Great..! Nice when these interviewers come ready with good questions, and love how he "stuck for his country" with asking for an apology... Didn't sound like a crybaby to me, pokerlady. Though he did open up the door for a jab by asking him to do it in Moe's voice, which I still think it's great!
Ahaha fair play to him but to be honest the simpsons use the stereotypes in jest unlike a major portion of america which believes leprechauns exist and we all live in thatch cottages playing our fiddle. So the simpsons is the least of our worries when it comes to stereotypes
I like that about the Irish. Not to paint too broad a stroke here, but, to me, they seem to possess a real ability to laugh about themselves and their 'shortcomings' and take things in stride. It seems that despite their tribulations the Irish sense of national or ethnic identity has remained strong enough and intact enough that it renders them much more impervious to silly stereotyping than many other cultures. IMHO.
okay well im irish! im not offended!! hank is fantastic in the simpsons!! i havent met anyone that does not like the simpsons or has complained about the "stereotyping" so all is good and well here!!=]
the irish are proud to be stereotyped, that means that at least their recognised.

I agree. We LOVE getting mentioned on the Simpsons!! I'm sure the interviewer was trying to be funny but he just ended up sounding like a cry baby.

So great to see a funny guy who's NOT "on" - doing a "schpiel" in an interview.

he was clearly joking.
in fact the irish are probably one of the nations that take themselves the least seriously and still achieve so much.

same with us aussies, we seem to laugh at ourselves, it's a pretty healthy thing to do, despite the fact the rest of the world doesn't get it!

Its true. no one here would ever get offended about this. I mean, we probably make the most fun out of ourselves.

How can such a funny man be so... dull in interviews?
derdriui 2 years ago
he;s not dull, he's what we call 'tongue in cheek', the humour IS there, he's just not being over the top
