  • If your wondering, not only is this the 14th season, the late 80s had all the good cast members on this show like Dana carvey or Jon Lovits or Kevin Nealon, Dennis Miller and Nora Dunn. this aired on live on November 5th 1988 around 1158pm. it was the political episode right before the elcetion

  • Like this song, but what is up with Edie's weird stance?

I can't be the only one to notice this!!!!

  • big influence on alanis maybe

  • I remember in 1988 seeing them at the Roxy in Hollywood. Great jam band.

  • When you look at this you see the worst excesses of the mid-and-late-80's melting away - this is good 90's music before the 80's had ended.

  • Great band, all the drama aside. Sorry they didn't do more, I know they tried but still.....

  • I remember this like yesterday. Ahaaa good times baby. Happy galore-est....eddie. Love you more than fries.

  • eddie bricklayer

  • Best band to ever come from Dallas.....Yes, I know about SRV but these guys beat his band.

  • This is 1990 they didn't start getting really popular till 1989 so they would not have been on SNL till then.

  • @nat00ben06 see wikipedia-->  /wiki/Saturday_Night_Live_(season_14)#Episodes

  • One of the best bands no one ever remembers

  • edie lives forever in my heart....cant believe i was in junior high when she came on the scene....how time just goes...

  • a new video has been released showing the begging of this song and starts with the begging of Little miss s., end shows the ending of that too! it is called, "What I Am Live Performance", so as "Little Miss S. Live Performance".

  • Erster Liebeskummer - Apfelkorn und das Lied rauf und runter ;0)

  • Paul Simon also appeared on the 12/8/1990 broadcast of SNL, so I think that's when they actually met, not during this one two years earlier.

Oh, well, whichever way it happened, this is still a great performance. Love them!

  • She is pure happiness.

  • at 3.15 in the clip she forgets her lines and keeps repeating what i am meaning she met [[Paul Simon]]

  • at 3.15 in the clip she forgets her lines and keeps repeating what i am meaning she met paul simon

  • does anyone have the other appences of the show

  • @darrenhenderson3 there is no other show. Her wikipedia entry is wrong . This is the show where she met Paul Simon. At 1.39 marker she forgets her lines as she sees him for the first time behind the camera.

They are both still married and have 3 children together. I am a huge Paul Simon fan and am becoming a huge Edie Brickell fan. Any friend of Pauls is a friend of mine. She is very pretty and very talented obviously.

  • @MrJim12341121 do you have the 1990 preformance on SNL i'm so dying ti see it

  • She is still performing - appeared this weekend at Jazz Fest in New Orleans - May 6, 2011

  • I love this band! Brings back so many memories. This song was a huge hit when I was a senior in high school. Matt Chamberlain --- best drummer ever!

  • I'm 41 years old and remember the date of this SNL broadcast....it was November 1988 and I saw it on TV that very night.

  • @mays30 Original air date was Saturday November 5, 1988. Thank you.

  • @consommenteur this dosent have good quality but the one on on the suggestion box has good reception not to be mean

  • @consommenteur I did too. I'm 35 now... so why was I up that late? ;) That was one of the first cd's I ever owned. I still know the words of every song on it by heart.

  • @alphapythia76 i know every word by heart too

  • @mays30 she says it's where she fell in love with Paul Simon who she's been happily married to since

  • @mays30 and she says it was when she met Paul...he made her smile and mess up she says. perfect couple I think

  • her wikipedia biog says that it was when she was on SNL in december 1990, (not 1988 which this vid is apparently from) that the Paul Simon meeting happened. OMG- making pedantic comments on YouTube. Do I have too much time on my hands or what....?

  • @1970datsun510 I think this would be another instance where wikipedia is wrong, this song was near or at the top of the charts in 88. I don't think snl would have had her sing this 2 years later. Just a guess.

  • Edie Brickell est une de mes chanteuses préférées. Je l'écoute régulièrement depuis plus de vingt ans. Sa voix est magnifique. Je regrette que son groupe n'ait pas enregistré plus d'albums.

  • YouTube 'The Heavy Circles' the band she's in with Sean Lennon.

  • @linkwray22 It's actually with Harper Simon (Paul Simon's son with his first wife Peggy)

  • Her popularity didn't die. She's singing this song facing Paul Simon, who met her on this show and they got married. She's been raising their kids and was growing tired of the ratrace crap from being "famous". She's now putting out other albums and doesn't really care if she's popular or not. A great lady with a great voice and a solid sense of what matters to her.

  • Edie is a great vocalist. It's too bad her popularity died, soon after this.

  • @sweiland75 Well put. A great vocalist indeed.
