  • Does anyone know who, or what the composition is called, for the audio track that accompanies this video from the 2:15 timestamp to the 4:22 timestamp?

It is primarily a sythesizer track, and I was curious as to who composed it or if there is a name for it.

Thanks for your assistance fellow "Alien" fans.

    Best wishes,

    trollcrusher242

    ;-)

  • @trollcrusher242 I should know this because I added the tracks to the clips... but I no longer has this video in my files, so I can't remember which soundtrack numbers I added. Also, at 3:54 it ends and a new track begins: it sounds to me like it is track 3 from OST: New's horror.

  • @magicalangel0

Thank you so very much for the soundtrack info.

I shall do a search here for .mp3 versions of the Alien / Aliens / Alien 3 / Alien 4 original soundtracks then.

Much obliged to you for your kind response.

    Thank you.

    ;-)

  • @trollcrusher242 you're welcome. The sounds I used on my alien videos were from Alien 1 and Alien 2 movie soundtracks. I remember that much (: take care

  • @magicalangel0

    Thank you once again.

    ;-)

  • This is why I love practical effects. Seriously, how did they DO that?

  • creepy to watch

  • Thank you Stan Winston! No one can ever bring the creatures from our worst nightmares to life quite like you do! You earned that damn Oscar!

  • Dear Santa....

  • She's beautiful! ^.^

  • ahh back when creativity was wanted in hollywood

  • Movies just don't have the same kind of dedication that they used to.

  • stan winston, you were too cool for this earth. rest in peace

  • this is awsome but i think the arms move to much :)

  • There is a time and place for CGI, but nowadays Hollywood is way way way too dependent on it. I miss movies like Aliens.

  • sounds like micheal bay lol maybe thats where bay got his attitude :P

  • cool i always loved the alien movies. btw i saw the video creator and i'm like..wait..i didnt make that video! then i saw the whole name :P

  • I agree with some of you about CGI V.S. puppets, however...

When you use a physical puppet, you have to use strings, poles and wires etc. that will be visible in the movie no matter how much you try to hide them.

Look at the aliens tail as it rises from the water to snatch Newt.

Look at the aliens back as it's heading to Ripley right after she

shoots the alien egg about to attack Newt.

There are MANY times it happens :(

Seeing the wires RUINED the movie for me.

  • @4cellar2door0 what are you talking about I saw the movie recently and I didnt see any wires and strings. You put the footage in a computer and edit it to remove that stuff from the scenes.

  • haha he said dick

  • "And dick lower your arm."

  • george lucas is remaking aliens the way he thought it should be, this is just one of the scenes.

  • movie magic

  • this is so cool.. in those day's CGI was aweful.

  • i guess even playing with this model was EFFIN scary

  • beast! :D

  • The only REALLY good CGI I've seen in films is in Jurassic Park and Avatar. Over all, puppets are superior in making something appear "organic".

  • @codzilla12 Peter Jackson's King Kong beg to differ. Kong not only looks organic, it looks emotional no less.

  • @codzilla12

Oh damn! I forgot about Kong! Yes, Peter Jackson's King Kong movie also had brilliant CGI, as well as The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

  • awesome!

  • I don't remember this scene in the movie

  • @ Interessante100, they are not practicing for a particular scene, they are just testing the model.

  • @magicalangel0 looks like a prototype.. would have loved to been there!

  • wouldn't we have all :)

  • @Interessante100 its not a scene in the movie its in the making of the ending part theres a green screen behind it

  • I agree with the comparison of CGI and animatronics. The Queen Alien had a tangible presence that CGI hasn't really ever duplicated. I think it's the best monster design ever.

  • agreed

  • true, but I do think Meg Mucklebones from Legend comes close!

  • that was not badass like the movies

  • looked cooler in the movies

  • I agree that there is something truly special about puppets and animatronics that CGI just fails to capture.

  • MY opinion you don't need CGI, just makes their jobs easier

  • @Kujapirate342 There are many ticks that make it differ from the theoretical real thing. But honestly, I've never had more or less problems watching shitty cgi as I've had watching shitty miniatyres and puppets. (I can't even laugh anymore when I see a miniature moving with lesser framerate, or exploding into styrofoam)

+You have to consider that the overall quality of cinematography has gotten worse. Bad, unthought lightning, hyperactive editing and color correction is way too usual.

  • The classic "garbage bag test" of the Alien queen.

  • The greatest pupper ever created? I damn well think so! They just don't make films like this any more.

  • Wow, this is from 1985 or 1986. I assume the guy speaking in the background is James Cameron.

  • Great insider views! I would guess that not many people realize the amount of design and test work that goes into each short scene in a major movie. Thanks for the show :-)

  • Thanks for your feedback!

  • The work that USED to go into movies like this. Nowadays people rely on computer graphics. Nothing inherently wrong with that, but there's no hard work going into animatronic pieces like this anymore.

And I'm not trying to imply people don't work hard on computer graphics either, but you don't have to think as creatively as these guys.

  • The use of CGI takes he "organic" quality out of the creatures in movies these days

  • Yeah it's pretty cool that something as insane-sounding as a giant marionette actually worked so well.

  • I agree with you

Yeah, back then it was very limited. Have to use those props to make it look realistic. Some directors today still doing that with mix of little bit cg. Directors need some 3D for impossible things.

  • Ahhh, the nostalgia..I still remember seeing the first Alien-Movie in my teens, and i was scared shitless ;) Camerons film is a masterpiece of suspense, guns-blazing action AND featured interesting characters. The following Alien/AvP movies could never again reach this level.

IMHO it's not about CGI or modelling, it's about the story and believable and interesting characters...

  • Oh definitely. The effects in the later movies weren't particularly bad, they just were written and/or directed in a very interesting way.

  • Most all films today are just whiz bang effects (*cough Star Trek cough*). Who needs a good script, compelling characters and competent acting when you can just bombard people with flash? Fun while it lasts but utterly forgettable once out of the theatre. NOT like Aliens.

I really wish I could've seen Aliens in its theatrical release. We're probably never going to see such a great movie again.

CGI has ruined the Sci-Fi genre. It should complement the story, not the other way around.

  • I didn't see Aliens in its theatrical release for an obvious reason. But I watch it at least once a year, every year and I love it everytime! I don't love a movie as much as I love this one. Aliens has everything that a good movie should have and it's too bad that it's not recognized by many people.

    Thanks for your comments rekunta!

  • me too, I watch this movie really often and I love it really much ! :)

  • the days of True dedication and film makeing is over it's all crap these days

  • One of the best designs I've ever seen... anywhere.

  • Yeah I mean I loved Tom and Alec's work (they were the only ones I gave any credit to in Ressurection and Requiem besides Weaver of course) and CGI can come out good, but I think there was something far better about the Alien queen without it. The way she moves is slower, but it's more horrifying and suspensful and calls for more work. Well it's all fun stuff. But the Aliens looked amazing in this movie.

  • its oil based clay that never drys. if thats what you mean.

  • why are "her" legs so small

  • its a test so they can see if it'll work. then they build the real model/rig/costume

  • Seriously, those guys put in more work, time and dedication on just this monster, then some film makers do with their whole movies...

I say to hell with CGI!

  • yep, that's why the Queen looked so awesome!! :D

  • You cant have such amazing slime on an alien without actually having real slime on a real alien costume or puppet!

  • Fuck thayt, cgi can be just as good, if not better. I say, use whichever looks more realistic (if realism's what you're going for).

Sorry to say, but cgi simply offers superior fluidity and range of movement.

  • oh go fuck yourself hipo

  • whatever.

  • lol, u two are funny.

  • Trust me CGI is no less complicated than old-fashion but still useful puppets.

  • @Crovaxx2

If you get your may, my dreams are over..

  • very nice

  • OH OK SORRY

  • what did u make it out of

  • NO NO NO BIG MISTAKE. I did NOT make this. This clip is from the DVD "Aliens" Special Edition.

  • I watched this film on the late show in the early nineties, and as well as many people has commented i was so scared that i had to change over the channel all the time, what´s more, i don´t remember to have seen the whole film that time. I guess this left a heavy mark in my mind in a positive way, n´ today i still like this movie( cult film, indeed for me!!!)

  • Alien was scary to me, but Aliens kind of wasn't! I love all the action in it!! it kicks ass!! The marines were awesome!!

  • Thats a huge bitch!

  • Aliens is best seen in Directors Cut. With all that extra dialogue, you feel like you're inside the movie, like one of the gang or something... it's hard to explain, you have to see it to understand!

  • I found the SE scenes unnecessary, the movie is a whole without them and you feel like a part of it anyway.

  • what do they use the paint brushes for?????

  • Aliens SE was the first I saw of the series when I was a kid.....haunted me since then. Top film!!!! As for Alien that's a whole other story...amazing!!!!

  • That scared me when i was alittle kid in the 80's LOL...OMG I"M SO OLD :(

  • All I remember is when I first saw the film, I was like "omgmgmgmg this is awesome" I think "Alien" was scary! Today, it is still a great thriller! "Aliens" was exciting to me. But after seeing the movies so many times, I started to notice their techniques and visual effects. This is what still makes me admire these films to this day!

  • did you ever wonder where the queen came from in the movie? since it lays all the facehuggers?

which came first the facehugger or the queen?

  • I think the Queen was on Lv426 in the first place. They disturbed her nest.

  • ive made tht question too and i know the answer. the people in alliens 1 on tht planet found a ship. perhaps either the humans in made the alliens or the aliens existed in other planets produced by something else

  • The queen is from the facehugger that attached itself to Newt's father. All xenomorph's have the ability to create eggs, and molt into queens. It just takes much longer.
