  • did marilyn ever see her mom after marilyn became famous?

  • @tigersclaw99 She did in the beginning.. She sended her mother money. The sum of the money rose as Marilyn earned more.

  • Any Child that has to go through this form of neglect will be mental unstabil and ensecure. She was raped of her own self from the beginning, by people that pretended they wanted to parent her, which means with love and care, and it seems she didnt get much love and care. Only people that was in it for the money - as it is still to this day.

  • so sad i feel bad for her i have a mental illness and lost several children and they are split up in foster care i feel so sad at times

  • @Dawnmariegrasso

She was not mentally ill, she was a programmed and abused mind control victim with a purposely compartmentalized brain. Read "The Control of Candy Jones" by Donald Bain.

  • where's the rest of this?

  • This definitely helps us see her as a real person & not some pretty face. TY for the upload. Increases my desire 2 adopt children rather than birthing. There r so many children who look through the window of their orphanage or foster home and wish they had someone permanent that would not be a fair weather companion. Well I think its within everyone's right to have children, I would hope everyone considers adoption first. Though the process is hard. I know those I know who have say its worth it.

  • Thanks for uploading!

  • I love her voice when she is not playing dumb cutie, but when she is herself.

    She sounds so intelligent.

  • ohhh where is the rest of interview?

  • One of the really sad things in her life was that she wanted to have a child so badly. She had several miscarriages and was unable for some reason to carry a baby to fullterm. There was so much sadness in her life but I do not think she took her own life. There were many unsavory characters who all wanted a piece of her, some of them not to be trusted. I just hope she rests in peace, probably one of the most beautfiul women ever.

  • Every child deserves more than this.

I don't know why most of us can't see that.

  • she looked like her mother, amazing! If so, maybe the mental illness was also inherited, yuo never know, it is still a shame she died though

  • I don't think Marilyn had a mental illness at all. Those close to her have spoken of her anxiety issues and being fearful of going crazy is a classic anxiety symptom.

  • @MsMonroe03 true but she did try 2 kill herself more than once

  • She talked a lot about hearing voices and much of the reason she drank so much was to "quiet the voice" and being paranoid that the FBI was following her (and they did have files on her but they weren't following her). She was diagnosed schizophrenic by her last doctor.

  • i read marilyn visited her mum in the mental home later when she was a big star but her mum didnt really know who it was.

  • that's sad :(

  • Charlie Chaplin's Mother was also mentally ill and he got her out of the famous Cane Hill Asylum in London and brought her to the US after he became rich and famous. Its a shame M M was never adopted into a family.

  • Anyone who got to meet her was truly blessed,

  • poor marilyn,

i feel like god blessed her so much later in life because of everything she did suffer, it was a very sad childhood and life, i wonder if she was ever really happy, or if the pain stayed with her all trough her life, but marilyn monroe is a legend even 50 years after her death nobody even comes close to what shes achieved so i feel like life took alot away from her but it also gave her alot.

  • Excellent post thanks for posting this

    Sandra X

  • This is an amazing video, thanks! People always try to make up lies about Norma Jeane, I knew I was right.

  • geez i should'v found this when i had my defense for my research of her life story... aaww. :[

  • did she had kids?

  • No, Marilyn never had any children.

  • thanks msmonroe03

    how did you know that

  • It is a well known fact that Marilyn never had a baby. Although she did become pregnant but miscarried, she never gave birth. This haunted her because she really wanted to have children. There are rumors that she was thinking of adopting a baby from Mexico before she passed away. Although there is no solid proof of this.

  • ok thank you

  • You're very welcome :)

  • She was soo Cute..

  • I think it's amazing how someone with that kind of sad, dark past would grow to become this huge, beautiful icon.

    R.I.P. Marilyn

  • I've never seen so many pictures of Norma Jean as a child. She looks so much like my mom in old black/white pictures from the 50's. Weird!

  • all the little sweets kids who dont have anyone to love them, that is all i can think of.

  • jack~ like you, I think of that a lot. So many amazing people come from broken backgrounds and strife. I definitely want to be a good adoptive parent some day and give a kid like her a loving home and a big loving family.

  • its della not stella

  • Interesting that Grandmother Stella Monroe went ballistic at the foster parents home trying to get Norma Jean.

Speaking of family trees a distant Monroe cousin said on a recent interview that the Monroes were descented from President Monroe.

Could be interesting , never know.

He also claimed that Grace Goddard's Aunt Anna is buried there.

  • Marilyn's Grandmother's name was Della Mae Hogan Monroe.

  • Sorry, I thought the foster mother said Stella.

  • Interesting to note that James Monroe only had one son that could have carried the Monroe name. And he never had children.

Elizabeth Courtwright Monroe was a distant cousin of mine, but her (and James') daughters could not have carried the Monroe name forward either.

Still- it is possible she was indirectly to James Monroe. Funny thing- Marilyn Monroe is also a distant cousin of mine from her father's side.

Who knows? The overwhelming number on Monroes are Americans of African descent.

  • typo: 'I spelled James Monroe's wife's name incorrectly. It was Kortwright, not Courtwright.'

Also- I meant that Marilyn could have been indirectly 'related' to James Monroe, like great uncle or distant cousin.

You know- if you follow Marilyn's fathers lineage by constantly following the name 'Gifford', you will find she (and I) was a direct descendent of King Charlemagne of the Franks, and Holy Roman Emperor called the "Father of Europe".

  • That stuff on her fathers family line is actually true. Fat lot of good it did her in the end though. JFK had good taste in women ;P

  • @p101James Monroe is a name that Hollywood gave her. It wasnt her real surname.

  • @werobanks Monroe was her mother's maiden name.

  • @MsMonroe03 Yes, you are correct, my mistake. It was the name "Marilyn" that someone in Hollywood thought up for her.

  • i love marilyn

  • mariah carey bough the piano

  • Prior to Mr. Baker, there was Charles S. Gifford, Marilyn's true father, and Mr. Mortensen who died at the young age of 29.

Of Pearl Monroe's previuos children, I can only say they were either Mortensen's, and, or Gifford's.

Anyone know? How about her half-sister Inez?

  • Mr. Mortensen and Mr. Gifford came into Gladys' life AFTER Mr. Baker.

Mr. Mortensen did not die at the age of 29. He passed away in 1981, with Norma Jeane's birth certificate among his belongings.

Gladys Pearl Monroe is Norma Jeane's mother and her previous children (Robert Kermit "Jackie" Baker & Berniece Inez Gladys Baker) were the children of Jasper "Jap" Newton Baker.

Gladys baptised Norma Jeane with the last name Baker so that all of her children would carry the same last name.

  • but Mr Gifford is her biological father? Norma Jeane's the youngest then?

    Mr Mortensen adopted Norma Jeane?

  • Yes, it is believed that Mr. Gifford is Norma Jeane's biological father and she is also the youngest of Gladys' 3 children.

  • I see. :) then is Baker the maiden name of Gladys? I don't quite understand why Norma Jeane's surname is Baker. Was Glady's married only to Baker? How come Mortensen had Norma Jeane's birth certificate? :)

  • Gladys' maiden name is Monroe.

Norma Jeane's surname was Baker because Gladys baptised her with that name. It is the last name of her previous husband and their two children. She wanted all of her children to have the same last name.

Gladys was married to Baker, then Mortenson, had a relationship with Gifford but did not marry him and her last marriage was to John Eley.

  • Mortensen did not adopt Norma Jeane. He was only listed as her birth father.

  • Wrong. Mr. Mortensen and Charles S. Gifford was married to Pearl Monroe 'before' Mr. Baker (in that order).

I might be wrong as to when Mr. Mortensen died (unless you're wrong).

Pearl gave Marilyn, Mortensen's last name on the birth certificate, knowing he was not the father. She carried Norma Jeane, as Gifford's child when Pearl married Mr. Jasper Baker.

The rest sounds right though. She was a Baker throughout her childhood and early adult life.

Jackie and Inez Baker were half siblings.

  • Gladys was married to Baker when she had her two children Berniece and 'Jackie'. He was her FIRST husband. He left with the children to Kentucky. Gladys tried to work in Kentucky to get enough money to take her children back to California but she was unsuccessful. She moved back to California alone and met Mortenson. They wed and Gladys prefered the single life of going out dancing and mingling. She and Gifford worked at RKO Studios and she became pregnant with Norma Jeane.

  • Gladys broke the news of her pregnancy to Gifford and his family during the holidays and Gifford wanted nothing to do with her any longer. Norma Jeane was given the Mortenson's last name but changed the spelling slightly (Mortensen). She was later baptized as Baker so that all 3 of her children would share the same last name. I'm not sure where you got your facts, but all legitimate MM biographies state the order of Gladys' husbands/lovers. Norma Jeane was not born before Gladys married Baker.

  • MsMonroe03- That makes a lot more sense the way you expain it now. This explainns why Jackie and Berniece were Jasper Baker's children.

It also puts everything else in order, and was certainly more detailed than the information than I had.

One thing though. My recollection from one of her family trees lists Mr. Baker as Gladys' 'last' husband (or so I thought). Is it at all possible Gladys married Jasper Baker twice?

Ans was it Mr. Mortensen who was the aviation mechanic 'and' electrician?

  • Thank you for posting this, it be very nice to see the rest of it.

  • She looks so much like me when i was a kid, I LOVE u Marilyn, u migth life forever in our hearts dear, dont care about the pain uve been trougth

  • she had such a sweet voice, i love hearing her

  • people should raise children if they decided to do and let them feel they belong to them .

  • I agree. However, Marilyns mother, Gladys, tried her best to care for her but couldnt afford to. She paid friends and foster parents to take care of Norma Jeane until she had enough money saved to have a house of their own, and they did until Gladys had a mental breakdown and Norma Jeane was placed in a orphanage.

  • how very sad for NJ Mortenson AKA MM

  • RIP Norma Jeane =[
