How could it get better. A great singer singing songs that another great singer made famous. I am a great Jim Reeves fan and Faron does justice to the ones Jim did.
How well I remember the news of Jim's plane crash in 1964. These are very good covers of Jim's work. But Faron's life ended in a tragedy as well, at his own hand. And the sad thing is, there are just no artists of their calibre to take their place. After watching the ACM awards a few nights ago, I was left with a sick feeling about what has happened to the genre. And we are poorer because of it.
@joepilot48 Shame on you for mentioning that person in the company of giants, lol, jk You're not too old, I think I'm only a few months older than the abomination that is TS and there's no one I dislike more. Such a tragedy that legends like Faron Young are all but forgotten in the town they helped build and genre they helped make while Nashville's giving Entertainer of the Year awards to that nothing left and right. Nah it doesn't have anything to do with age, the girl sucks.
@joepilot48 I too remember when Jim's plane crash. It touched me as if I had lost a friend. I have always loved his singing and he was definitely a great singer and songwriter. I agree with you where are the great singers today. What has happened to good classic country today in the ones that are coming along. I feel music as we knew it is gone forever! Vivian
@joepilot48 So so true. When the CMA handed TS the Entertainer of the Year award in '09 I broke down and cried. I thought it was bad before, but now it's just horrific. The majority (imo) of the artists called Country over the last 30+ years have been Country flavored Pop at best, but there was always still a strong (real) Country base around (ie Alan Jackson, George Strait, Josh Turner, The Dixie Chicks, etc). Now there's next to nothing, and at least before the pop artists selling themselves
@riv4life618 Country had some degree of singing talent (ie Carrie, Shania, Faith, Keith Urban, Sugarland, Kenny Chesney, etc etc) even if they are about as Country as Jay Z. Now you got people like Swift who not only aren't Country at all, but also can't sing at all. A total joke. It kills me to see people like her stand on the Opry stage, and people like Rascal Flatts become members of the Opry. Hank Williams wasn't even reinstated in the Opry. No wonder Faron ended it the way he did = (
todays country misic is not country

@candw87 But we do have "Taylor Swift!" And I still don't understand. Guess I'm just too old.
