and to all you rice burner fanboys out there that swear they can dump a couple thousand dollars into there civic, crx, s2k, and beat a GTO they are out of there minds. I have a 5.7 lightly modded Goat, nothing crazy and I have yet to lose to either. If anything they avoid me or cowar down when I roll up or even better they dip in and out of traffic to avoid a straight line one on one. For some reason I have rolled up on a few STI's and they didn't want it either go figure.

Engine swap perhaps, ported heads, intake, headers, exhaust, ignition, cam, Big HKS Turbo pushing out 20+ Psi ,HKS blow off valve, gutted interior, short shifter, racing clutch and flywheel, harmonic pulley?? You probably put 6X the amount in mods than what you actually paid for the hatch right?

No matter "non 6.0" GTO, how much more displacemnt first that car have over both the "rice burners" ? I had an SRT4 with just a stage 1 and TBE and smoked a stock 6.0 3x's back to back to back. GTI's are tooo heavy. And it takes a lil modification in our little 4 bangers to make up 4 more cylinders V8's have. STI FTW

@Crossfit559 well congrats you beat a stock gto?? with ur modded skittle. i had a 2008 cobalt ss was tuned (22psi) stock exhaust, cats/muffler removed with a cutout installed and a intake and i lost too a gto with full exhaust, intake and tune. if he was stock i woulda killed it but with even mods i lost its dumb to race cars stock vs modded.

The GTO is a heavy car and my guess is that is the 04 with the LS1. I can take those without much effort in my 02 T/A because of that. They were heavy as they are and before they got the LS2 they weren't anything worthwhile racing.

@ian02se rule 1. just cuz a engine revs to 9k rpms doesn't make it good. cuz that just means you have more range of having NO POWER!!!.

2. most hp per liter only because making a 4cyl is completely stupid nowadays.

3. a good engine is a balanced one. example-5.0 412 hp and 390 tq, with tq pushing all the way from 1.5k prms to redline, and nothing but pull after 3.5k rpms. unlike the s2ks engine which has no tq.

4. s2ks changed to 8k redlines cuz its better. but of course you knew that right?

The redline was lowered to 8 not cause its "better" as you say, lol, its because the bore and stroke were changed from a 2.0l to a 2.2l. The piston speed of the 2.2l could not reliably go to 9k. And yes, your right, I own a s2k, its becuase im sooo scared of torque! It doesnt have any, I know, but you really should do your research on that engine, you are not educated enough...

@ian02se me sayin they changed their redlines to 8k because its better was a wrong statement? i did not have the space to go into details, but the "2.2" or 2.15 had the same bore as the 2.0. just a longer stroke. but you knew that, i know you didn't mean to say "the bore and stroke were changed" cuz ur such an expert. and the redline was lowered because it is better...they made an engine that keep the same power yet get to the power band quicker. why goto 9k rpms when you can get the same at 8k

From what I could see (which wasn't much) the GTO beat the s2000 by enough that it wouldn't have made a difference.

The GTO would get its ass handed to it by the S2000 on the twisties.

At 3,700lbs the GTO is big and heavy.

On that note, when taping from inside a car, set the focus to infinity otherwise it will home in on the car's class.
