it looks miniature because when you take a close up shot with a macro lens only the center is sharp and the rest is blurry with a tilt shift you control the location and angle of the focal plane making just the center sharp you can do it easily in photoshop with blur
If you can change lenses on your yes. If not I used software that ads this effect. If you search for tilt shift software you can find it for free download.
@ahick I was thinking almost the same thing , I just came to know about Tilt Shift Lenses , but what I saw in the Outcome , looks like can be easily achieved using a Software (Heck Even using Picasa :P )
So Whats the uses of this lense apart from focusing on center and blurring out the rest (Soft Focus)
if you just took a normal picture everything in front of you is in a focal plane perpendicular to the viewfinder
with the tilt-shift lenses its not perpendicular...it also distorts relative sizes of world objects around/near the focal point/plane that you cant normally achieve with a basic lenses without going in some fancy pancy closeup shot...this sh*t f*cks with your brain man
@LilGunner030 lol Thanks , Yeah It is tricky for others , When I posted the comment Didn't knew , but Later saw some Freaking Images on flickr , understood what its capable of :D
You can just do this in photoshop. Add a blur and feather it out from the focal point

I find the excessive blur nothing but nauseating. Sorry, but there is little to learn from this film.

Nice pics. I could have done without all the ken burns effects so I could actually see the image though.

Getting software that just blurs the top and bottom of the picture isn't tilt-shift, but you probably know that now, 2 years later :p

It works the best when the things that are in focus are equal distance to the camera. Those came out nice! The others kinda break the illusion.

Awesome pictures, I hope you don't mind me asking, but what is Tilt Shift Photography and how does it work?
