  • So dont let them lie to you Sarkazz11, these money hungry politicians try to put permits & license on everything to let people pay for something they naturally have.

Pretty soon they'll be saying you need to have a license to tak a shit or a permit fuck your man or wife, OH! that already exist THE MARRIAGE LICENSE.

  • common law marriage is natural law marriage. If you marry by license you are excepting benefits from the gov and giving up more rights. states that dont except it are de-facto and work under the color of law. If you were sovereign still, common law marriage is the only marriage you could have. this says it all.

  • Common Law marriage is not defacto. Legal marriage in a church or register office is defacto, not lawfull.

A common law marriage can not be legal, they are lawful. A civil marriage is about contracting with the church and state.

    It's just about the money!

Check out the difference between legal & lawfull. They are so far apart & never the twain shall meet.

    Stay free eh!

  • honestly, i could care less what they call it, as long as i have the same rights as a str8 married couple does.

  • i hear ya!

  • To me marriages are a joke no one takes there vows serious no more husbands cheating on wives, wives cheating on husbands its literally a piece of paper now.

  • Yes. Hell, I'm in a common law marriage right now.

  • oh...ok...

  • I think what also amazes me is that many think oh it's just a piece of paper but when it comes down to 25 years of marriage and your spouse dies and their family comes in no longer recognizing your marriage you will have wished that you had some type of paper, weather it be a will, a marriage certificate etc. What some of us fail to realize is that we don't get the same benefits and rights that heterosexuals do.....yeah it may be a piece of paper but for me it is pretty important.....my 2cents

  • and I also agree @ "you will have wished that you had some type of paper, weather it be a will, a marriage certificate etc."

  • This is a very good question. I do believe that we as gay men and women we should have the right as everyone else to marry whom we want with out all of the extras. But I do believe that if there was 't such a hoopla about it.....many of us wouldn't be rushing to the alter. I say this because when those of us in California had the right you would have thought that a hight percentage of GLBT community would have rushed to city hall. Personally I want it regardless of the legalities......

  • "But I do believe that if there was 't such a hoopla about it.....many of us wouldn't be rushing to the alter." i agree

  • for real.. i want to be married but i think marriage is just writing on a piece of paper anyway. i mean I want that right to be there so that if i decided to change my mind I could sign the papers and get all the same rights that straight couples have because those benefits are quite important but at the same time i do like the idea of common law marriage. that's just me.

  • "those benefits are quite important but at the same time i do like the idea of common law marriage. " I think ...my opinion..that the fight is for those right WHICH YES I DO BELIEVE are IMPORTANT...yet if all were EQUAL, I believe MARRIAGE would not be pressing...just my opinion

  • true, i agree. what I meant was as long as others are still ignorant to gay marriage a common law marriage would be ok for me for now. this wouldnt be america if we didnt have to fight for it though. i think justice is coming.

  • I think its coming to @ justice!
