  • love the shot at 2:49

  • Brilliant.

  • Great Video man, the Music really justifies the footage and the amount of tonnage being hauled. Keep up the good work :-)

  • I liked this video. And I loved the last comment at the end. Well done

  • 0:22 O_O.

I've been watching trains here on and off for the last 16 years, and I've never seen a train with that many lead units!

  • any chance of uploading this in real good quality now youtubes max file size is 1gb? :)

  • I loved this, i work at loco control and they are goin to love this, i can hear them now trying to guess which loco & where top work marty

    Regards

    Marty

  • Marty, my 2-year old is obsessed with "Thunder In The Hills" and all of your videos; must visit NZ from New York soon...

  • Good to hear it keeps him entertained. Heading into Summer now so great time to visit.

    Thanks so much.

    Regards

    Marty

  • Excellent !!

  • This is obviously just a promo. Where do we see the full video where we see and HEAR the trains for more than 5 seconds at a time?

  • New Zealand

  • what country is this

  • kick ass!!i must check out nz soon!!

  • Now I am going to have to go to New Zealand. You have removed another exscuse.........LOL

  • Once again, nice video! Geographically speaking, I'm glad we can't call this video "Thunder from Down Under"! What mountain range is at 2:12? It looks very surreal in a good way! :)

  • Its part of the Southern Alps range at a place called Jackson in the South Island of New Zealand. Glad you liked it.

    Thanks

    Marty

  • I hope this runs a while longer. I still get a kick out of it

  • Me two.

    Thanks

  • Top marks that man, very nicely done.

    More!

  • Stunning production Marty. What software are you using?

    Anthony

  • I used an older copy of Final Cut Pro on a Mac. Thanks

  • WONDERFUL!! I love N.Z., never been there, but I think I'd trade Colo. in a second!

  • F***en BRILLIANT! You obviously have some great footage of NZ trains! Any plans to produce a DVD of them? I want MORE!!!!!!

  • very good indeed, thanks

  • What make are those locos???

  • Most of the loco's are either GE or GM, some 30 odd years old, but have been rebuilt several times in the Railway workshops, to be of the highest standard possible with out the expensive investment of new machinery.

  • GE or GM?? Thought they looked familiar. Ok thanks.

  • Wow aren't we a clever boy! Peter Jackson move over!!!

  • wow this is 1 of the best train vids i seen on youtube and ive watched train vids from all over the world great job well done and verry good sound to go with it

  • Absolutely Brilliant. Truly remarkable work. Am sure that took some time to get right as well

  • Thank You, and yes I re-did the entire project 3 times to get it how I wanted it.

  • Great job on the video. I liked the music through out the video. What is the name of the song?

  • The song is Molossus. It is the sound track from the Batman movie.

  • Brilliant!

  • Excellent work Marty - loved every shot. I appreciate the effort you've put into this - chasing, waiting, the expense of travelling, waiting, more waiting etc. etc.

  • Thanks mate, I was surprised myself at how much footage it took. I had to install a second hard drive just to cope with all of my train stuff. Waiting is right, sitting for hours for 20 seconds of video, some would call me crazey (my wife) but it was fun.

    Marty

  • Hi,

    Great videos, excellent mixing! :-)

However, I think I would have enjoyed some actual thunder from the locos instead of this music throughout the video. As a title music it would have been fine, but for the whole 5 minutes it's pretty hard to endure... ;-)

    Greetings,

    Roni

  • Brilliant. I would love to see this on a big screen.

    KenB

  • Me to, have managed to put it on a DVD and run it through a TV but still trying to perfect that at the mo.

    Thanks.

    Marty

  • I saw your shadow! Very well made, thank you.

  • That was my guest apperance, I had the camera on one tripod and an old large format camera on the other and hadn't relized that my shadow was now apart of the scene.. Thanks. Marty
