  • They sound A LOT like its other but the fender deluxe is way warmer, less muddy and the pedal is a bit treblier... Great pedal, great work in reproducing such an iconic sound...

  • @LFWOL I would think because if you had a tweed, why would you be playing the pedal through it? Most people buy pedals like these because they DON'T have a tweed amp and want theirs to sound like one.

  • eww neither

  • Andy has a face?

  • I couldn't tell the difference. Which is a good thing seeing as I have this pedal and have been GASing for a Tweed Deluxe.

  • andy watching your face when you talk is weird, I'm used to the disembodied voice with an occasional hand reaching in

  • TWICEEEE ASS HARDDD

  • yeah i knew that it was A on the first run around. tweed is meatier and has less sustain than the pedal. easier that a couple of the other ones!!

  • the fender sounds les messy- thats why ive never liked pedals ive got a hot rod deluxe with a omega amp dumble mod so thats all i need hahaha

  • The only man to defeat Chuck Norris....ANDY.

Great demo, as always. I would love to see a who's who between the Les Luis and the Formula No 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to decide between the two.

  • yea! A, i knew it was the fender

  • What was cool about this smackdown is that it proved to me that the Les Lius really does sound similar to an actual Deluxe. I bet if I ran it into my Twin Reverb it would sound awesome...now if only I could find one!

  • Proguitarshop sells em.

  • The fender was less compressed so it was a bit obvious, still nice pedal though.

  • I kind of like the way the Les Luis sounds on the Marshall. It's a little darker.

  • Yup I was right. A just sounded more open and bright to me. The Les Luis still sounds like one hell of a pedal though. I wouldn't mind owning one.

  • Oops! I forgot all about this smackdown...but I see that I chose wisely (hehehe). My ears haven't failed me yet. That's some pretty nice tone you got out of the pedal though. :-)

  • Twice as Hard :)

  • I liked the pedal better...maybe I should get me one of those

  • yeh I love that classic rock tone of the pedal, t'is nice :D

  • Pretty typical. Marshalls naturally accentuate the higher frequencies and sound brighter, Fenders tend to be more between the middle and the bass. Tone is fairly identical except the Marshall sounds like its gone from some sort of Treble Booster as well.

  • neil young? hell yeah.

  • The Fender handles chords better....but on some of the single notes the Lovepedal is great.....uh I'd say Lovepedal is great for some solo stuff but stick to the Fender for rhythms....

  • Whats that tune he plays at 0:41 (reply)

  • Neil Young - Southern Man

  • the sound of both is amazing but i like the real deal more. pls tell me what type of les paul this is exactly i love this guitar.......great video

  • Nice Pedal ;) What's the name of the song at 0:41 ?

  • Neil Young - Southern Man

  • i liked the A contender better but the B sounded really close especially with single coils. I guess nothing beats tube saturation but pedals are really getting close that the average audience member won't know!

  • Haha, I bet most audience members wouldn't tell (or for that matter, care about) the difference between a tube amp distortion and a Zoom 505..

  • i want both please! and throw in the '52 tele!

  • the deluxe wins.

i got an original '57, they are kick ass.

  • Hmmm interesting...my choice the deluxe easily.

  • B has slightly less overdrive

  • the pedal sounds better than the real deal

  • NOOO Andy doesn't mak mistakes haha!

    what are you doing PGS!

  • Go black crows

  • Aha! Just as I suspected!

  • Southern man fukk yah

  • Nice to hear some Neil man, good choice :-)

  • it would be sacrilege to play a les paul into a tweed deluxe and NOT play neil young! haha

  • The pedal sounds a little to dirty for me

  • Yep, me as well.

  • I've nailed it , the main Difference is that the pedal+the marshall have more Growl than the tweed itself . But they sound alike

  • yay I was right

  • Just as I thought! :)

Can't hide that Marshall low-end! :) Great, great video PGS!

  • YES!!! LOVE to hear that Neil Young!!!

  • It seems I'm in everyone else's boat as well - I thought A was the pedal and B was the amp. I'm still amazed that the pedal sounded better! I dig the Tweed Deluxe amp, but maybe it isn't as good through the Alnico Blues.

And the "Twice As Hard" tone with the Tweed was spot on!

  • the sound of the pedal in my head is more fenderish than the real fender...

both are nice and if i have one i´ll be satisfied

  • HAHA at least that was entertaining. I will now go and kill myself for having been wrong LOL Guess I'd have to check that pedal now, I like lovepedal usually.

  • I have to say that at this video the difference is quite less. Which means nice pedal.

  • Wow, I was wrong! The pedal sounds so much fuller and amp-like.....than the amp! haha

  • i called that rea my comment on the other vid....a is better

  • Or you could make a video? ; )

  • whats up neil young?

  • Yeah! I think I got it right. I like the pedal and the Marshall head better because there seemed to be a little more spice and sustain with single notes. In case nobody mentioned it, Black Crowes, Twice as Hard with the Tele.

  • I knew it! The pedal is way better.

  • wow, that pedal is sweet!

  • Damn, I needs to gets me that pedal.

  • i like them both, but i think that the pedal wins

  • there is a small problem with this test, they also have the speaker as an added variable. The les lius and marshall seem to be running through the vox cab, and if I'm correct, uses a pair of celestion alnico blues. I would think that speaker would sound better than whatever is in the tweed, they need to use the same speaker for A and B to make it balanced.

  • Wrong. Both amps are running through the Vox cab. Thus the Radial VT head switcher.

  • oh interesting, i thought it was just a standard a/b box run before the amp. good idea

  • Andy, you know I think this is what bothers me about the test is that by removing the speakers from the equation. part of the expected tone is lost. Thus the pedal sounded more like what you expected from a plexi or fender than the real thing. I suggest running the amp per the norm (ie Marshall through a marshall cab, and fender through its cab) and then utilizing the same speaker to for the contender. Its the same control without removing part of the signature sound.

  • Cool story bro.

  • +1000

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos LOL @ cs,b

  • @babyslapmafro The speaker in the tweed would sound better because it's the speaker in the tweed.

  • I think the pedal had a tighter sound with more high end, so I would have picked it over the amp. I think both sounds were a bit too muddy to be honest

  • yay i was right

  • What song is the one he plays at 0:41?

  • Neil Young: Southern man.

  • I'm definitely digging on the pedal more than the amp.

  • Pedal definitely sounds better

  • wow, i was wrong! So the amp is better!

  • I got it righttttt

I thought the Fender was better

  • I was surprised at how good the les lius sounds. I'd thought that A (Fender Tweed) sounded a tad better, but damn they were close!

  • Woot! I got it right!

  • I got it right but they do sound pretty similar.

  • Wow! The pedal was better!

  • I agree!

  • By the way, that chick at the beginning is hot as hell. I gotta get me some of that

  • Great video
