@Sil3ntDz I own one. Due to it having a master volume and the 7 watt setting you can actually play this amp quieter and with more gain than the 5 watt version. Its a great amp. I payed £200 for the head and cab new
its awesome, ive had it for months and its plenty loud enough for practices with a loud band and drummer and probably some shows. its not, just mike it through the PA. it sounds great and takes pedals awesomely.
Many user demos of this amp makes the amp sound really spiky in the upper mids,I hate that sound...it sounds warmer here.
The amp seems to be constructed very well compared to other similar priced amps(dovetailed plywood instead of Fender/Vox MDF,,YUCK!,heavy double circuit traces,1 watt carbon film resistors, etc),I'd just put a some vintage iron or a Mercury Magnetics in there and a sag resistor.Voila,High end Vox normal channel tones with flexibility for short money.
@SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 Yes. At full roar, sound guys (and most everyone else) will yell at you and tell you to turn it the fuck down. 15 tube watts is obnoxiously fucking loud. Crank the head through a 4x12 and it is loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage.
@SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 well, I got a little giant, and a mate got a bugera a bit ago. I like A LOT more my little giant, bugera got not eq range compared with my little giant. Bugera got also a les vintage tune, but hey, I got a pretty tight modern rock sound with my little giant, and cranking it with a overdrive get you awesome tone. Those blackhearts are becoming a classics, get one now, they are increasing in prices (good signal, they are getting some popularity and demand.
I own one of these, and love it to death. Turn the level all the way up, and control the vol with the gain. It gets loud before it really breaks up, but it has one of the most amazing sounds ever.
@kane20seven yes you can get a lot of headroom with that combo, even with humbuckers.... but I don't know why Andy only plays the amp cranked in this video...
am i correct for thinking i want a blackheart little giant because i have less tubes to replace? because i never see anyone thinking like that. sorry for my stupidity.
i've been the proud owner of this amp for several months now and it's absolutely delicious. articulate, loud, rock-solid, good voicing and more than reasonably priced - a real best-buy. just controllable enough for bedroom use but meaty enough to gig a small club with.
oh, and it likes effects too, although i've been using them a lot less after getting the amp. ;)
A local would like to trade my Orange Tiny Terror for his Blackheart 112 combo, a classic vibe tele with warmoth neck w/ gfs fatboys pickups + a biyang fuzz pedal and a artec fuzztown pedal. I love the Orange TT but Have a Dual Terror already, any suggestions?
@Kristianeb They usually don't use any pedal except when specified. Maybe your pickups aren't as hot as the ones on his les paul ? I think the combo was cranked all the way up too, wich adds way more gain than low volume.
I had planned to buy a different type of amp, saw this review and checked out blackheart for the first time. These amps are incredible! If you want great blues overdrive as well as sparkling clean tones, I just don't think you can do better for the money. I picked up this same combo, and have never loved an amp, out of the box this much before. It's built for blues and classic rock, but the cleans are great as well.
I like its clean sound for strummin. Cool Chili's song btw. I had the tiny was a great amp. The vox night train has a nice jangle and the egnater is great from what i can hear. So many choices!
i ran this head version on a 6x12 old fender cab(JBL"S) and on 4 it was too loud for my other guitarist using one with 4x12 ..just use greenbacks oe any brittish type speaker cause fender clean speakers suck on this
@flipside1974 - You can get decent overdrive at a low level, but remember that since it's all tube it's always going to sound its best cranked up. Check their 5watt amp
how does this compare to a fender blues jr? seams overal more versitil with the volume switch and included distortion but all i care about is clean sound tone right now cuz i use pedals
i bought one of these and i absolutely LOVE it! I had them swap out the Chinese tubes for a set of JJ's at the store and this amp absolutely kicks. I can hear it over my drummer, it responds great to my Jekyll and Hyde distortion pedal, and it sound phenomenal mic'd. @grilguy I dunno dude. He often does that. Breaking the Girl was played on a strat or mustang, so he was probably just going for a good single coil sound to show the different sounds. I hope it can stay clean with my SG, because I just ordered one of these, and I need good cleans!! Fingers crossed
@rrippp Hope you do get them. I'm just not sure what I should buy, a vox, bugera or blackheart. I kinda got the feeling I could get suthern rock sounds from the blackheart.
got this amp a couple weeks ago, and for those wondering is it loud?, it is reaaaalllyyy loud, on a bedroom for example it will litterally make your ears cry haha, seriously, and btw, it does sound like that, sweet sounding amp
how does this amp respond to pedals? i played my mudhoney through a little fende champ and loved way they interacted. would this be similar? i guess the 12" speaker could take more of a hammering before the sweet break up, but a bit of tweaking could yeild a result
Does the combo version have a closed back? I would pick the stack version just to get the bass response from a closed back,, overall these are great sounding low priced tube amps.
@popomczowzow I've used this amp before with a number of pedals, and this bad boy LOVES pedals. You can get a pretty nice clean tone to base all of your pedals off of it and just tweak it. This thing is really awesome.
Amp outputs are rated at wattage before distortion. Since an amp is capable of making more power past the point where distortion is present in the signal, the wattage rating is on the conservative side (if you crank your amp past breakup). Also, tubes compress the signal as they get closer to breakup which adds a higher "perceived" loudness to the extra wattage.
Great demo! I was thinking about getting an orange tiny terror, but was turned off when I heard it doesn't stay clean at drummer levels. Think this might be a good alternative? (same tubes at TT, same 15w/7w switch, cheaper) Also, what does "Solid State Rectifier with tap for future mods" mean?
Yes, remember a 40 watt tube amp is equal to a 120 watt solid state amp. this would be equal to about 60 watts of solis state? Just to give you an idea how loud it is.
ya man 15 w of tube can get extremely loud. when compared to 15 watt of solid state amp, the tube is a lot louder. i have a fender blues jr at 15w and it Screams! my fender deville 4X10 at 60w is beond loud. i cant turn it past 4 before my ears bleed.
no marshalls are not there rock amps not metal amps when you use heavy distortion the sound becomes too choppy and its pretty much the same for mesa line 6 is better because there digital and there sound is clearer and more crisp and they can handle the most brutal distortion
First you say Line 6 are best because they have "good" effects. Then you say the fact that they are digital makes it more brutal and clear. Then you say Mesas can't handle metal because it too choppy. Then you reply to some people who know what they are talking about by saying "oh bullshit and static my ass."
I think we have an idiot or ignoramus. Either way, don't be stupid and act like you are the shit when you really don't know anything. This is a good amp. Better than any Line 6 Spider!!!
I think your getting beat on this one. Line6 is a great begging amp. But Marshall and Mesa can out do them in any genre. Now, that is solely an opinion, but i do think more than 75% of guitar players who have played on a Marshall, or a Mesa would agree.
Blackheart is one of the companies owned by LOUD Technologies. They also own Crate, Mackie, and some other name brands. I know what you mean, I was confused as to seeing the CRATE logo on the control panel of Blackheart amps, and, for me, Crate stuff never really floated my boat. However, Blackheart amps, every one I have tried, have been top notch equipment, tough as nails and putting out great sound. Definitely going to check out this Handsome Devil!
Is it okay for playing at home ? or is it too loud ?

ya man 15 w of tube can get extremely loud. when compared to 15 watt of solid state amp, the tube is a lot louder. i have a fender blues jr at 15w and it Screams! my fender deville 4X10 at 60w is beond loud. i cant turn it past 4 before my ears bleed.

these are really made to handle metal so if your wanting a metal kind of amp the best one to get is line6 there effects are really good

mesa boogie or marshall are better
feelee15 2 years ago
no marshalls are not there rock amps not metal amps when you use heavy distortion the sound becomes too choppy and its pretty much the same for mesa line 6 is better because there digital and there sound is clearer and more crisp and they can handle the most brutal distortion

line6 amps have no tone quality and with high gain sound like static
feelee15 2 years ago 11
oh bullshit and static my ass
cobraopts7 2 years ago

Is Blackheart a Crate series, or were they bought by Crate or something?
FloroSapien 2 years ago
Owned by crate, but not the same amps at all.
