  • very nice, i miss my tenor :(

  • also, what kind of mic are you using?

  • what setup do you play? i'm dying to have a tone like yours!

  • @kjfld tone starts with the mouth, not the setup

  • please reply! what mouthpiece are you using???

  • ok, who is this very talented and highly skilled mystery man>? Sir, what is your name, and where can I find you?

  • not really a fan of the tone but great playing

  • Awesome

  • Gorgeous sound! :)

  • Why the gloves...

  • Very nice!

  • great playing .. i am just learning this tune on tenor and i hope i can get it under the same way you have !! great stuff !!

  • Very nice! I love the tone!

  • great vintage sound... almost like that warm fuzzy '40s coleman hawkins style. beautiful!

  • You just blew my mind *explosion*

    amazing playing!!!

p.s. (personal suggestion) try using more chromatic licks or at least maybe emphasizing some more

  • amazing sound!!!! what mouthpiece is that? thanks

  • very nice sounding sax!

  • po cara que som

  • Great job playing, but one thing, this is not a song for tenor sax, you should really try to learnit on alto

  • @MusicISLife9500

that's the dumbest thing i have ever heard of course it's a song for tenor sax, it's a tune for any instrument

  • i enjoy all your playing, fuck all those haters who are just trying to comfort their own insecurities

  • nice tone

  • may i ask what mouth peice do you use??? cuz this is dam great

  • @thagodfather007 thats an otto link mate.

  • Nice!

  • this is great

  • very nice...I love the soft warm tone.

  • is that a rovner, on otto link? or something else?

  • It looks like both your tenors and alto's are Yanagisawa, good choice but I would have recommended a Selmer Mark VI or a Conn. If you really want to replicate Bird's sound, play on a Conn, its what Bird played at some point in his career

  • @Jamieable the sax is only a minor part of the sound. Bird would sound like Bird no matter what he played. don't base your horn choice on what everyone else plays. if i did that, i'd be playing the same boring series II alto that every other music major at my school has.

  • @xXcRENzXx hey super 80's are nice though thats why theyr so popular.

  • @Jamieable Although that's kind of a BIG jump in price!

  • Great !

    But why the white globes?

  • nice sound. very mature

  • OMG, It makes me feel so happy when i see people "still" doing jazz music..

I think we have a new Charlie Parker here...

Who agrees with me just post it..

  • What are your alto and tenor setups? A lot of people are wondering so as a suggestion why don't you include it on the sidebar in your videos?

Great job man, keep it up.

  • Very "old" sound. Great!

  • CLEAN!!

  • Great Tenor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you are amazing!

  • Now i realise that making nice tone is very hard thing. especially on the tunes of Charlie Parker.

It has not to be warm or fancy.....

Your tone is nice. but it reminds me too much of Stan Getz on this tune.

  • Yes I agree but I like a brighter sound on a saxophone...

  • yea i like your tenor tone so much more than your alto tone. great job.

  • This is good. It's hard to dig out the interesting notes on this tune. Just been working on it man.

  • good but it would have been even better with your alto :-)

  • why do u wear gloves to play?

  • it's possibly a uniform thing, or just really kool lol. WOW he plays awesum.

  • it's a vintage sax he dont want to wear out the laquer with his oily hands

  • haha, I should do that with mine, I never thought to do that with my Conn

  • not sure but it doesnt look vintage.

for all we know he might be a germaphobic

  • @SaxophoneProductions he's stated in other vid's it's for comfort

  • Nice playing!! KEEP JAZZ ALIVE!!!

  • is your mouth piece standard or special order

  • Stop trolling, idiots.

He is playing every single note, and he is doing a damn good job.

  • good job man

  • i like this tone very much!

  • You have a nice airy sound. But, I would have to say your alto sound is better. It's hard to compare two different instrument sounds but I'm just not feelin' your tenor tone.

  • Awesome articulation! I like your tenor sound better than your alto sound, personally.

  • do transcription books actually help you with your own solos?

  • ya. jamey abrersold makes many of them and just books to learn to make solos

  • man blow a bit more air through that horn. tenor is a different discipline to alto. btw, your alto solo on Donna Lee is the best solo I've heard after Bird himself.

  • Obviously u can see he is an alto player... his high notes can tell it... Try working on your sound a little bit, make the sound more visible and full...

  • A little fuzzy and pinced in the upper egister. Don't listen to the people who say you aent playing; I play tenor and you are playing every note. Work on your upper register a little bit

  • man this is jazz, don´t bother with sound, he must give more air to high notes, and that´s it

  • Nice old school tone!

  • nice sound man!

  • I love this, but can you post a video of the same song on alto?

  • certainly very good! i had doubts about whether you were playing when i saw you did not have a neck strap but otherwise keep up the great playing!

  • You are just jealous bud, who would this be? How can you say he is a fake when his mouth and fingers line up? Im a jazz performance major so im pullin stuff out of my ass, its legit. Oh good job by the way, not really a fan of all the subtone, but if you are a lovano fan go for it.

  • his fingers line up dumbass

  • are you retarded?

  • smooth bop sound:)

    which horn do you use?

  • Just so you know there is a mint sharlie barker omnibook in b flat - i play tenor as well :))

  • yeah its dubbed, but the gloves are to keep fingerprints off such as during long performances

  • Wow... are you jelous or what? The sax can be on a stand (hence the lack of neck strap) and the audio can be recorded with a different equipment than the camera. It's not even that hard to do.

    Keep it up netjazz

  • You, my friend, are an idiot.

    There, that was simple enough.

  • You can record image with camera and sound with mic, then merge the two. It's not hard to do at all. Certain people don't want to mess up their instruments with fingerprints and oil from their hands. I have a good friend who plays trumpet that does the same thing. Contrary to popular belief, the sound does not come out of the neck strap. Astonishing, I know. You do not needa neck strap to play.

  • how long did it take you to learn this song?? its really good by the way!

  • isn't this cool blues?

  • it´s not a blues at all -.-

  • nvr heard sax other thn in jazz nvr a solo

  • You got a Brancher mouthpiece?

  • WHere coud i get this sheet music? i also play tenor.

  • U play tenor you rock I also play it! U ROCK

  • charle parker omni book(b flat), big ass red shit =P

  • hi man !

you sounds good ;nice playing ..

can you tel me from wich record are this version?

is a little diferrent at the ending , charlie does some soloing at the end of th e 1 . and 2.

i ve got the same version from the aebersold play-along .

  • It's the version from the real book

  • Nice playing... warm tone... articulate... even liked the gloves... Michael Jackson touch? Good to see the young guys playing the traditional tunes... Would like to watch you with camera panned out... performance is part auditory... part visual... like to watch the player... kind of adds to the overall impact of the performance journey... keep up the good work... one sax player to another...

  • dude what's your set up? liken the sound!

  • beautiful sound....you have a real sense of jazz...well done

  • Nice well executed... I like how you filled in the spaces with your own stuff that was pretty cool.

  • Great classic sound.

  • i can't tell if i like your alto sound better or your tenor sound! great job!

  • great ideas!

  • Great tone and intonation, as well as articualtion. Very impressive.

  • Ouuuuuuuuuuuaaaaouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh SUPER

  • Nice tone,but...why are you wearing gloves dude??afraid of screw the sax??

  • Amazing. How long have you been playing? How old are you? How often do you practice per day?

Just curious, I'm a sax player too, just not as good as you, lol.

  • ya nice tone man

  • Think I like it. Play like your life depended on it.

  • Your tone is a lot like Coleman Hawkins'. Good stuff.

  • is that a selmer mouthpiece?

  • Very classic jazz tone.

  • your good on tenor, but i much prefer you on alto, your still a legend though ;)

  • request-blue for alice in alto :D

  • request-blue for alice in alto :p

  • nicely done! you should consider widening the shot a bit so your face isn't cut off.
