i do remember getting a black screen while exporting for the first time...though I don't remember how I got over it....my guess is I added a layer with background color as the bottom layer...will try over the weekend and will let you know....
there's another way...I first saved it as SWF format...I installed "moyea swf to video converter" freeware. This allowed me to convert from SWF to FLV format....I then uploaded the FLV format onto youtube...hope this helps...
im thinking of using pencil to animate, im an artist but i find photoshop and flash 8 far to comolicated, could anyone tell me if pencil is a smpler alternative? i'd really appreciate some insight, thanks
Pencil is not that complicated and can be used for traditional animation...if you want something professional than you should be using Flash....the best thing is that Pencil is free.....

I exported to SWF format...you will get lot of freeware programs to convert from swf to avi to upload
