  • cool, the majority of viewers r from russia

  • im hella high

  • Kid Cudi my buddy...

  • It's not depressing people. It's a message telling us that all the materialistic things of this world won't buy us happiness and that true happiness is found from within. So work on your soul and search for the truth, don't by into this materialistic system that's designed to make you a slave.

  • Really paints a picture on my life. Hapiness is within, and trying to find a next source of hapiness will only corrupt your True Happiness. Some deep shit. The video also shows that the world cant find their own happiness they have to buy it from somebody elses perspective (Product). Its to bad that most people will just think its a worthless cartoon, with no message.

  • wow

  • yeah cudi

  • Kid cudi sent me!

  • I saw this beautiful film quite a few years ago, on the happyproduct website. I recommend it to everyone I can. So creative and touching, and just a few minutes long. Unreal. Amazing how endless-budget gargantuan studios can spend so much money and impart nothing with two hours' opportunity to do so. This, in comparison, really shines, and none the lesser for its brevity. Wow.

  • thanks cudddddderr, you're the shit

  • @bluesandrockforever I dont agree

  • I love this short film, its so meaningful It make you think do we really live in a society that really focuses on us buying fake pleasures to make us happy and ,were forgetting that happiness is within the human

  • Amazing and beautiful. I'm in awe. <3

  • Perfection in every way. Thank you for this beautiful film. Keep up the good work, I'm still in awe.

  • simply amazing

  • im glad i got this through kidcudi site :D he is amazing and so are the people

    behind this short film .

  • "What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?" Matthew 16:26

  • Amazing

  • Applaud Kid Cudi!

  • this was awesome! i got sad when he lost all the like sparks and colors....thanx kid cudi for showing this inspirational film :) ♥

  • I don't see how anyone could realistically not like this short film. (139 thumbs down?!??) The message, and in a very real sense the warning, that this film displays is beautiful and haunting.

There have probably been about 10 other uploads of this film, that I have seen, and they all got taken down; presumably by YT and presumably bc of copyright issues. Hopefully this film, & this specific upload of it, will stay right here...

  • i kinda saw it as something that related to pharmaceutical drugs and other types of drugs, like the dude was dealing with depression and so he turned to drugs to escape the troubles of his daily life. However in doing the drugs he lost himself and realized that in the end not only were the drugs not really helping him but they were actually sucking him dry of his "one ness" if u want to call it that.

  • @alex549 what video was it called?

  • the main thing is, that in you personally, how awakens feelings and thoughts. I liked it. :)

  • Ειμαι εξαρτημα εγω στην μηχανη σαs κι ο γιοs μου το ανταλλακτικο....

  • The film conveys many Taoist principles (and even some of Jesus' teachings). Both philosophies instruct us to revert to our childish natures for when we are young everything in the world is new and exciting to us but as we grow up much of western culture taints our perception of the world with expectation and social values (fame, fortune, happiness from consumerism). Happiness and bliss do not come from object, it comes from actually being out in the world and enjoying as seen at the end.

  • Isolated in a self-serving fantasy

  • In my opinion the message is this video is,

your youth ends when you become part of the system

  • @OldSkoolStudio you already know what it means. You said so in your comment. I saw this when it was first aired on the sci-fi channel back in the day. you nailed it on the head because you get the same thing from it that the creators said they wanted people to get when it came out and they did an interview with them.

  • @MAXIMUS172 no I dont know, its just my opinion

  • can someone explain this one to me?

  • wonderful short film.. says so much I always have trouble finding words to say.. we all struggle for self-actualization, it is found within, don't sell your soul for fame and fortune, or a mere raise... stop the cycle of oppression, change the system don't adapt to it, .. Don't forget where you came from, don't step on the backs of those that got you where you are. I don't believe it is to make us feel bad but a calling to wake up and realize that Less is More!! ... so much more to say

  • @lionskeep yeah i agree entirely. its really thought provoking

  • amazing.

  • So meaningful. Greatest short film ever...

He wants to relive his childhood bliss so badly...so he emulates it through his new invention and changes the world. But instead of nirvana, he ends up becoming what he'd hated.

  • @D00medNinja yes...sold his dreams...and then some day he was empty...

  • this is the creepiest feelgood video ever

  • I've seen this video many many times and every time i see it i love it more! One of the best short films ever!

  • I first saw this film on Sci Fi's "Exposure" in 2000. I was 20 then and I was surprised how much this film has stuck with me over the years. Thank you Mark.

    Also, I loved Kung-Fu Panda.

  • incredible. Amazing. So beautiful, and true.

  • I dont get it.

  • what does that little diamond thing on the thing the kids are playing on represent? why is it not there at the start but there at the end? help i need this for school my stupid teacher thought it would be funny to make us watch a video thats 6 min long with no words as our video study. SHES MEAN

  • I think the whole meaning is just in the title. We always want more, and eventually, what we have ends up not being good enough cuz we always search for a higher and greater happiness. But all we need to remember is that the simplest things can be enough, like being a blissful child at a playground.

  • Hey man, I love this. Best short film I've ever seen besides la maison en petit cubes. Very good

  • Elegia from Joy Division is the music that accompanies the court metrage.

  • @Nakimi New Order, not Joy Division

  • ...2 thumBs up.. ^^, 4 me.. this shOrt movie tells us that..

being cOntented w/ sumthing is enaf 2 be happy..

but when you asked 4 "MOre'.. then thats the time when u cnt find thelimit of happiness..

unlike being a child..ur contented and happy w/ little things.. nOt dreamin and askin 4 more..

    ..^^,

  • wow. just came across this by accident but wow... why dose this not have more views!!!????????? that was so great! gota show pple lol

  • the shot at 4:27 where he has become the boss is fantastic. i also love the soundtrack! what's the song called?

  • Amazing

can fine me the sound track of this film?

    pleeeeeeeeeeeeez

  • Why must you vomit so much hand-me-down meaning over this beautiful thing. Just interpret it and be HAPPY.

  • Comment removed

  • maybe the happiness refers to drugs...I like every opinion I have read so far but the nice thing about this video is that every person can see it with a different way!amazing

  • Money does not bring you happines! we need to open our eyes and our heart to ourselfs

  • Oh my god. This is the most incredible film I've seen...

  • @Salmonboy145

you should try lsd, research it its really not as bad as ii first thought it was,

    im serious

  • splendid

  • The video is very good but your all wrong

  • We worship false idols like power and money thinking they will get us back to the happy state we had when we were not old and bitter and we are wrong.

  • Remarkable.

  • When we are children we are pure and guided by our souls. as we grow we fall out of step with our souls until they no longer guide us. they no longer help us see the world for what it truly is. instead we see what others want us to see and believe. we all become machines of the system. maybe if we all took the time to look within ourselves and find our own souls...maybe the world would be just a little more colorful.

  • This video touches so many people :(

  • This video makes me wonder if progress and contentment are contradictory. I mean, why invent new things and improve standards of living if you're already content? It also makes me wonder if synthetic happiness (drugs, materialism, and egoism) can ever be stable. People have this funny idea that their minds' are changeless, that their PERSPECTIVES cannot change to view their current situations as pleasant. Instead, they change their external environment as a means of happiness. Does it work?

  • It's the mindset the society has created, by turning him into consumer of products to try to make himself happy. Rather than remembering what truly made him happy was childlike innocence and companionship.

  • So he creates this artificial "happiness/bliss" only to realize that it has turned him into what he hated. All the fame and power has still left him alone and worse so passionless. In the end he is distracted by something shiny and our focus is turned to the kids playing and and being happy. But after crossing the line into materialism he doesn't even focus on the kids anymore. All he notices is the shiny object and need to want MORE materialistic things to fill in the emptiness within him.

  • If you are from some other culture you can usually see the difference between American way and the "old country" way. There is more emphasis on family/friends relations rather than the race to make more money or acquire more materialistic things. You see him in the deadend job trying to put together parts to what suppose to make people happy, yet he he is unhappy. He has passion/fire within him to create something that he thinks would make him happy.

  • I keep coming back to this movie over and over again. Before I talk about what I thing the meaning is I just wanted to say that this movie is brilliant and i give lot of credit to the director, producers, and the designers. The thing that is missing from his childhood to his current state is that he doesn't have companionship. Human are social creatures and we need to socialize and find connection to be happy.

  • Woah, this was pretty good.

  • :"(

i know none of you know but might as well ask, whats the song?

  • @sklzmstr Good new, I know, its called Elegia by New Order

  • @BenIsTheIceman i....love...you

  • GOD I LOVE YER FILM!

  • mind boggling

  • Loved it,very thought provoking, 5 stars *****

  • the red fire in hes stomatch is hes childhood, hes memories and hes pureness. everyone has it in themselfs. its what makes u good person. when u lose it, u get the world we got today. struggle to survive. hes "invention" is todays technology, making ppl close themselfs in a imagination world, not seeing the truth. with it, u get even more sucked into system. system= hate and emptiness. the theme is ur traped and there is not escape. correct me if im wrong.

  • @punkchaos187 Your not completely right, when he uses his insides (respresenting his true self and pureness) in the machine, he see the world for what it really is. Since most people see it as that grey world, but when you open your eyes, you can finaly escape the corrupt system of (The New World).

  • @punkchaos187 ...punk/chaos...- that's me...so hi there soul bro...like-minded...

...you said it right as i would...i just would add...if that's the most people's truth (and it is) thats also their reality...so you could...i could change my reality and truth...YOU could change your reality...and your truth...

...it depends on just on you and your resolution...

    A/O

  • @punkchaos187: The theme of what you just said pretty much nails it right on the head but, you desperately need to work on your English spelling, English grammar, and English comprehension!!

Your like a retard who can see ghosts; your enlightened but, you're infinitely stupid too!

  • @SpookeyR when u learn 4 langs to write, spell and talk, let me know.

  • @punkchaos187: LOL!!

Soo, you suck at the English language bc so much of your brain power is busy with other languages!?? And like anyone here is really supposed to believe that...

    Whatever, you troll!

  • Highly imaginative commendation on alienation. 5 stars m8

  • no more dreams in him?? or what?

  • no more happines??

  • Amazing.. Ive never seen anything like it.. Its touching...... I Agree with soitalwaysbeen

  • love the music to it. very nice take on separating from mainstream society. almost seemed like if Tim Burton did a version of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" very nice

  • @Sabreeshuh I thought the same thing!! I'm like woah this reminds me of "The Wall"!! :D very cool short

  • any other vids like this ?

  • absolutely brilliant very glad i watched this it really shows the how the system can destroy one's soul if allowed.

  • This is beautiful .

  • We`ve watched this in class and everyone was confused. The teacher didn't help so can someone please explain this to me?

  • @fakecheese1

I dont know wut your studying. it depends, but as an opinion this could be representation of a monopolistic society, although I don't that is what the film is trying to portray, im sure your teacher would commend you on giving that opinion.

  • @scm867 we watched it 4 creative riting and he said write wat u think i tis and i hav not mush of an opinion im just reely confused.

  • where can i get the backround music from the clip?

  • @Anonymus889 It's by New Order.

  • Thank You:)

  • wow

  • perfect

  • I'ts all in perspective

  • muito lindo!

  • One of the most powerful things I have EVER seen; it definitely makes you think.

  • Wow.

  • so amazing. I loved it. Loved it so much. thanks for posting/making such great art.

  • Beautiful music, folks! Spirituality and chain of losing it in our artificial set of doings.

  • Amazing, a masterpiece

  • I see this all around me all the time. I purchase things all day so we can sell one thing. Other people purchase my stuff and other things so they can sell what they create to me, and others. We're all locked into this giant web man. Just pushing paperwork endlessly, essentially hoping to widen someone else's profit margins while we don't see an extra dime. Capitalism does nothing to ease the sorrows of this world, or lift up its participants from the class they were born into.

  • You have the option of not participating in capitalism. See if you have that type of freedom in any other system the world has yet seen. Capitalism never promised to fulfill you spiritually or emotionally; but it has raised your living standards and options high enough so we can have these type of conversations in the comport of our homes without government oversight or intervention.

  • Oh, but there IS government oversight AND intervention. We are all living in a PERFECT slavery sistem, were you can be "free"... but this means to be so lonely and rejected by the others, that makes you wish to go back and be a slave again, so this way, you may at least have some acception, but are not really free at all.

  • Comment removed

  • @alexcarcito Lol. Would you prefer anarchy? What's your alternative? So they only reason you continue to be a "slave" is because it'd be lonely and you'd feel rejected. It seems to me that you're enslaving yourself with such thought. That's like saying "the only reason I get voluntarily sodomized and impoverished is because it'd be lonely if I were'nt".

  • @alexcarcito

thumbs up, however, one must adress that we have never been free, not since the dawn of our existance. For we must eat, sleep & reproduce. Those are our true steel cages, not so much the gov, or anything else for that matter, although I may except the debate of love and/or hate being another handcuff. The we as a society unite to try to enhance this persuit of freedom. In the end tho, the majority of us are just going through the motions, like this film, in hopes to "see" freedom.

  • And your alternative would be......?

  • And your alternative would be......?

  • That video says a lot to me. I think the fire in his stomach represents happiness. That vid is so drab, and anything happy is colorful. And he sought so hard to free himself from the almost prison like conditions of his workplace when all he did was trap others into it. Like in visioneers where the company creates all the stress in the production of its stress relief products. All it does is try to solve a problem that it creates.

  • The Theme is Ignorance is Bliss im sure. it shows how if you ignore the world around you, everything seems perfectly fine.

  • I suppose that is one way to look at it.

  • Very powerful...

  • I was the production designer on this. Thanks for all of the thoughtful comments. We tried to make a film open to interpretation but I'm constantly amazed at the depth of the analysis that MORE inspires.

  • Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself. ~Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

  • amazing

  • it has got deeper meanings than why the autor created it

  • I like how this short film was spliced into the movie "Phase 3 19/20" the light within. It is spliced in a way that it is very uplifting and inspiring

  • I'm not quite sure I understand what happened...

  • @moviemaker933 its pretty obvious! He found that he was empty and all the power and money could not make him happy.

  • пиздец ребята(((

  • All you guys I know mark in person and his daughter madison was in my class for coulple years so heeeheeeheee

  • @PKing5azet nice use of words, if we could get it in english format it would be nice!

  • Finally I found it. I watched this on Ghost Girl when I was a kid. I thought it was so intreguing.
