  • I love this version!!

  • its xmas 2010

  • READ THIS ;) IF YOU'RE COOL, AND AWESOME.

IF YOU LIKE THIS SONG.. OR IF YOU DON'T... AND ARE FEELING RATHER BORED... OR RATHER CHRISTMASSY ..

ME AND MY GOOD FRIEND PAUL, SPENT SOME TIME IN HIS STUDIO AND RECORDED A FABULOUS COVER OF THIS SONG IN OUR OWN STYLE! AND <3 <3 <3 !!.. MADE A LITTLE FESTIVE HOMEMADEY MUSIC VIDEO! ;D

i KNOW THIS WILL PROBABLY BE BLANKED... BUT IF YOU'RE CURIOUS.. :) COME AND CHECK IT OUT ;D

I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT! THANKYOUUUUU

    &

    MERRY CHRISTMASSSSSS :D !

  • the first version is way better

  • Who ARE these people and what have they done to such a great song?

  • this is my fav version/band aid... in fact i thought this was the only version i didn't know about the original till i left highschool (2002)... i think the original is crap compared to this... idk why peeps r hating on this one and prefer the original :S... yes the original does have cool bands/singers in it but it sounds lame and boring... this one is catchy and fun to dance and sing to :P

  • Thanks so much for posting this. One of my all-time favorite Band-Aids...A real "period piece" of 80's pop stars.

  • I only recently heard about this version. I was around then and remember the first version coming out. Can't think why there's this gap in my memory where this song vanished into. It still doesn't ring a bell - not even a Christmas one. I recognise virtually all the artists and remember Band Aid 20 but this one's become a new experience for me, if only by default.

  • and the most charted girlband bananarama!!!

  • This is my favorite version

  • Bono's original part, is strenghtless in this version. Sing by a sissy boy. I really prefer the orignal version, or the 2004 version, but this version is just whrong.

  • I don't know why but to me, this song captures the late 80s-early 90s vibe hence the poppy sound whereas the original is pure 80s.

  • this is a good version, but my favorite is still the original. the vocals sound amazing in that version.

  • Vocally, the best Band Aid. Lisa Stansfield was the original Cheryl Cole!

Band Aid 20 and Band Aid are both good tracks for a good cause.

This isn't technically a band aid track like the others but a SAW cover version- but for the same good cause!

And there won't be eggs in Africa this easter time etc etc.

Remember JC and the loaves and fishes. There's enough food for everyone, noone too fat, noone starves. Learn to share- the music business should!

love life love music love SAW :)

  • YEAH! Nice Glasses!

  • Jason Donovan

  • @ShakaloPL That´s Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet

  • @Chutki74 Thanks ;)

  • no snow in africa, really, ders something i didnt know

  • u disgusting individual! u need to grow up!!

  • best version!!! SIR CLIFF makes the record!!

  • Band Aid 1 and 2 are a MILLION times better than Band Aid 20 which was diabolical

  • Ok I like recognize one maybe two singers, did they get the others off the street? Way to ruin a great christmas song with a disco beat.

  • Wow first time I have seen this version. Not anywear close to the first and doesnt hold a candle to band aid 20 version!

The different vocals throughout the song ruin it..the first sounds very christmasy this one is just terrible no way i would play it at christmas time! And slaveboy is right bannanarama is hot in the first!!!

  • @cookmydinner band aid20 was awfull- the rapper part totally ruined it and plenty of people thought the same...its sales relfected that.

  • I agree.....Band Aid 20 was a shambles

  • love this version feel good while helping others BRILLIANT

  • Worst thing I have ever heard..Not one of them can sing....

  • erm I think Sir Cliff can thank you.

  • the first one is so much better

  • No this one is because the greatest singer in the world is in this one .... Sir Cliff Richard!!!

  • at 0:17 the greatest singer in the world appears. Matt Goss. it does not get cooler than that man

  • WTH! The sucking music kills the wonderful song, man!:_(

  • original was 10 times better

  • but the singers are good

  • Not as good as the original!!

  • Oh my god this is truly terrible, didn't even know it existed O.O

  • i love this versioin, it's so much better then band aid 20

  • bueno nose como se dice en español sera asle saber que llego la navidad pero mas me gusta de la orginal de los verdadero rockeros jajja 80 jajja

  • How's they get David Koresh to sing this/??

  • usually the originals are hard to beat, but this second version is superior, and all others after this one are lacking in everything that made this one and the original such great songs.

  • does anyone knows who directed this video?

  • bono <3

  • whos the ginger woman in this ?

  • Alguien puede decirme quien es el segundo en aparecer en éste sensacional video (totalmente pelón a rapa) -aparece varias veces mas durante el video- GRACIAS

  • the first version was way better, bananarama looked so much better in the first one too.

  • I think i would have liked this version better if it had Pete Burns and Rick Astley in it.

  • amen!

  • rick astley left stock aitken waterman before it was recorded

  • all the guys have womens voices

  • chris rea, jimmy sommerville, jason danovan, kylie minogue, bros, wet wet wet, cliff rishards, bananarama, Lisa stansfield, couldnt remember the rest... I loved this version

  • It is Sir Cliff Richard!

  • thanks for spell check lol

  • such a jolly version of the song! everybody's so happy, smily and chuffed to be singing a song that's dedicated to.....starving children in Africa! each to their own.

  • @weekendoff What have you done to solve the problem then? Remind me again please..

  • @gigantojim - remind you? do I know you at all? well, as you've asked I've been out with the Summer team with mission Africa - and once my doctorite is finished am hoping to take a break to go out to Nigeria as a medical worker like my brother has done.

  • @MrWeekendoff Maybe you do. I think you are a bullshitter. Get a wash.

  • Comment removed

  • @gigantojim - your thoughts mean nothing to me. More like you realised that I have done something when you presumed I hadn't done anything. And to save face, you become the biggest man in the world - 'someone who argues over the internet'. Please shut up, dont reply and not respond to any message I post ever again. I cant be bothered with you. cheers.

  • @MrWeekendoff Yes I did indeed realise you have done something, post a video on you Youtube. Big claps. Well done. Get yourself a goldfish. Next mission for yourself is to try tying you own shoelaces.

  • The best version.

  • Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!! There is no one version better than the original from 1984. Band Aid 4 ever!!!!

  • Merry christmas from England :) P.S Ho, ho, ho I'm a bad mofo!! :)

  • Just as good as the 1st.

Merry Christmas and a happy 2009....

  • who are any of these people? lmao

(yeah cliff richard, and kylie manogue, who else?)

  • Big Fun 0.13

    The pasedenas 2.05

    lol

  • boy George, George Michael, Elton john, Duran Duran }that is just a few famous people, but also everybody also in the British music chart and others.

  • where's boy geaorge and elton john?

  • boy george was in the original

  • yeah i know, he's not in this one

  • I prefer the original, then band aid 20 then this one... its good... just different...

  • who's the first singer?

  • chris rea

  • I like this 1 much better!!!!!!!

  • hahah

    are you bein sarcastic?

  • Nothing will ever beat the orginal..period! But to it's credit, this is the only other version I will listen to. It's not half bad, IMO.

  • This version is terrible, feel free to thumbs down me but the origional and the 2004 ones own this shit.

  • i agree 100%

  • Christmas spirit FTW!

  • So what if it did hardly any1 remembers it! They ony rememeber the original and band aid 20! Band aid 2 sucks!

  • this is awesome, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

  • I am so confussed.

what is the difference. how many of this song are there? I thought there was one and then it was resung like 20 years later? am i wrong?

  • There was band aid (original) song in 1984 then this one 'band aid 2' song in 1989 then in 2004 they released band aid 20 which as you said was 20 years after the original, its the same basic tune and words just updated e.g. in 2004 they use alot of Rap. It also is a chance to include singers from 1984, 1989 and 2004 to apeal from a wide audionce and to get younger people intrested as they will listen if they reconise people. so there was 3.

  • This is good

All Star version is good too (for those who do not know.)

  • This is just rubbish :P

  • Omg this is rubbish! It well tacky

  • you go and do a better one then that raises over $150 millon and is best selling song of the year. Can you? Obviacly not.

  • At least this version had no stupid rap in the middle. Lets at least be thankful for that!!

  • oi dizzee rascal owned it.

  • The State of them, the state of the song, the only person I know there is Kylie, like the instruments used must have cost like 2 euro. Oh ye & the state of your mans glasses

  • never heard of Cliff Richard?

  • you've never heard of Cliff Richard? :) lol

  • only one herd of is kylie lol

so uve never herd of cliff richard hahahaha

  • or Bros.

    or Jason Donavan

    or Jimmy Somerville

    or Lisa Stansfield

    or Wet Wet Wet

    or... etc.

  • the first one will never be beat

    never ever ever.

  • i dunno this one is good really similar to the first one latest one was fukin awful.

som dodgy vocalists on first one like paul young has no voice and he was given first line to sing shocker mate

  • at least 20 had dido...love her

wht do u mean embarassing rap? lol

  • this is weird, who r these ppl?

original was fabulous, i didnt knw there were so many versions wow

no good wihtout boy george tho

  • annie lennox is in here shes good but i still like the original

  • The original is much better.. its more catchy, and the vocals are spot on aswell.. this just sounds like a randon pop track

  • no they sing the words at the wrong time and make it sound different, well apart from kylie.

  • *Rap not wrap sorry, I must have wrapping presents on my mind!

  • lilymu1234, theres one problem with your theory. I'm 20 and the original version is the ONLY tolerable one to day. It was a bunch of rock icons getting together to do something original for the season. The only way this should've been redone is now, with some great vocalists, such as: Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge), Bono, Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace) and Benjamin Burnley (Breaking Benjamin)

  • I agree the original version is best and I was only just born when it was out. This version is better than the Band Aid 20 one though, at least it doesn't have that embressing wrap in the middle *shudder*

  • how fit are bros x x x

  • Hahaha! Of course, this version is unsurprisingly favored by those who were in their heydays during the '90s. The original version is favored by those who were in their heydays in the '80s. The 20 version will be favored by those whose heyday is this current decade. Bottomline, each of our favorites will depend on which generation or decade one belongs to.

  • lisa stansfield best vocal in this song. this is my favourite version to listen to even though the original was no 1 when i was born xx

  • good things: no rap in this one, Bob let some women sing solos (Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet should have had solos or a duo on the first one), Cliff Richard.

but it still sucks, just not as bad as Band Aid 20.

  • why aint chris cornell in there?

  • this versions only saving fact is cliff richard

  • PrincessKazzi,

I think you're right, only his voice suits the song, the others sound out of place, i don't like the intonation the others have given their lines.

  • yep the mighty Sir Cliff!

  • The original band aid was so much better however this doesn't suck as much as the band aid 20 version.

  • this is not the best tune ever and not the best version (not the worst either) but it's not for YOU to like but the people 20 years ago... And they liked it and bought it and a lot of children didn't die of hunger I guess.

there was only one goal: MONEY

  • This version is AWFUL! The 1984 version is so much better. There are so many songs that should never be redone and this is one.

  • Bloody awful I know It was all for good causes but aside that it was a combination of all what bad about the late 80's...The 2004 version was bad as well but that is a different story.

  • this is the worst one by miles

  • Facts (wiki):

1984 Geldof's one criterion for selection was how famous they were, in order to maximise sales of the record.

1989 On 1st December, Bob Geldof called Pete Waterman to ask if he would consider producing a new version of the song. With just two days' notice, on Sunday 3rd December, recording took place.

All money went to the cause, no contributor got a penny.

  • horrible

  • Not as good as the 1984 version I must amit, but loads better than the one they brought out a few years ago. At least the singers on this one are in tune with each other.

  • This is THE best bloody version!!! Bring it back god damn it!!!!!!!!!!

  • who the fuck are they ? first version is best and this is shit ...even if it is for children in Africa.

  • this is kinda.... daft..

  • god this is terrible, plus the new one is rapping cmon its terrible original is the best and should never be remade : )

  • It should never be remade? Tell this the children in Africa...

  • Dude they dont probably even know about this goverment is fucking tight they probably took theyre fair share, you know they dont have to do band aid, it's called being a musician and writing a new one.

    fucck

  • i dont like this version at all, it doesnt sound right =/

  • love it

  • this version is.. i don't have the right word to explain it.. i don't like it.. the only artists that make it worth listen to are Cliff Richard, Wet Wet Wet, Lisa Stansfield and The Pasadenas.

  • Yep Sir Cliff makes it listenable i agree!

  • this song aint that as great at the original

  • the stock and waterman attempt :)

must i say loads of these artist i love...

  • this is the best Band Aid version, because it has the legend Matt Goss singing on it. no surprise he was given the best line to sing

  • maybe it is becouse i am old but i only reconized one person that was cliff richards lol it was nice.not the first one but nice.

  • band aid 1984 fuck a lot much better

  • The Rapper in the new Band Aid is the worst musical decision ever made, had the song not been for such a worthy cause, it would have been slated and shelved. It was terrible.Matt Goss, Kylie, Jimmy Sommerville definitely rocked that version, the original is great with Phil Collins on drums, I hear Midge Ure's contribution was tea making and rumour hs it he pressed a button somewhere along the line.

  • I agree Dizzy Rascal rapping on the newest Band Aid was a farce. Only highlighted what was already a crap version of the song.

Quite like this second one. Its a pop song sung with few cheesy pop stars. Thats all its meant to be. The new version was painfully crap.

Midge Ure took Geldof's lyrics, and created the melody and backing track for the record. Geldof gets all the credit for everything , oh well .......atleast we know who to blame for his talentless bint of a daughter!!!

    :)

  • i dont care whether it souded better or worse

the singers in that song sang because of the pictures bob geldoff showed them saying he wants them to do a new band aid or band aid 20

dizzy rascal was there becuase he wanted to be a part of thr charity of that made te song

  • I think u will find that many celebs do "charity work" for a variety of reasons. Some of those being their own.

The single as a fund raiser is fantastic though ofcourse . The money it has raised throughout the years has been phenomonal.

But my point is this version was utter shite. Lacking the cheesy up beat quality of those before it.

Dizzy Rascals rap was out of place , didnt suit the song and will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

  • ill admit it as out of place and didnt suit the sog

but its still just proof of charity work

  • V true, it is charity work, but they also want to be remembered for doing that 'Band Aid' song. Plus, theses charity events are breeding grounds for new projects helps the artists mingle with each other. It's all PR at the end of the day and I salute those who have committed their time to a worthy cause.

That said, I still think the Dizzy Rascal rap was a complete joke, was out of tone, didn't sound good and that's what it will be remembered for. Hopefully something was learned by this mistake

  • the rapper was actualy a good decsion

  • No it wasn't, it was just a sad attempt to make the song "modern", and it failed.

  • Matt Goss, Kylie, Jimmy, Cliff and Cyndi really make this sound good!

  • I personally agree that the rapper did kind of screw over the newer BandAid, but I think it shows that no matter your clolour, creed, ethnic background, choice of music etc. you can still care about things

  • I can't understand people who criticise Stock Aitken Waterman. They made great sounding pop songs. They deliberately weren't trying to be avant-garde, they just wanted music to make music people could sing along to.

  • This version was the best ....the newest one is totally shit- somebody shoot that raper please !

  • You're mad

  • I think its double p

  • i like this version

  • awful.

  • The original and this version are the best. The band aid 20 one is shameful!!!! Matt Goss is a legend!! Phwoarrr! x

  • I agree ... The original is forever a classic. I like the energy of this one, Bandaid 2. The 3rd one, BandAid 20 was forgetable.

  • but this is not the original...the first song of band aid was the version with bono, phil collins, george micheal, duran duran....

  • stock aitken and waterman were shit

  • How many band aid's are there? Three?

  • There are 3 versions of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in total. The original 1984 version, Band Aid 2's version from 1989 & Band Aid 20's version from 2004.

  • Eindelijk gevonden. Als fan van Cliff mag deze niet ontbreken.

  • Bananarama was the only banh who was in the 1st version & this one too, I think. Amazing

  • Besides the original, this is the only version of this song I care for.

  • Same here, I only like the original & this one, as I thought Band Aid 20 was absolutely awful! It was too self-indulgent, tuneless (especially Dizzie Rascal's appalling rap in the middle bit!) & a real waste of time! Shame this version seems to be forgotten about though...

  • yeah the rapper totally killed it - god knows why thy put that in the song.

  • It's not Band Aid without BANANARAMA!

  • this is my fave version

  • The first version was great because it was the first & is seen as a classic.

The third version was dire & should never be heard again.

However the second version was the best as it was more up to date, done nicley & had some great talent.

Matt Goss is an incredible singer & Luke was a great drummer too, not to forget Kylie too who is a definite star in her own right.

  • the two woman between 1:40 to 2:005 r good

  • Sonia and Lisa Stansfield, Kyle

  • Thats Sonia & Lisa Stansfield. Sonia represented the UK in the Eurovision in 93 and came 2nd.

  • nice newer version

  • Still makes me shiver and get all emotional when I listen to the lyrics.

  • wel heres wot i think. i think this is the best 1 done by far. it got a gud few faces that r still goin strong 2day. an i think that wen they did this song it helped raise alot of awareness about there way of life. it might look sad and depressin. but at the end of the day most of ppl in the uk an other countries live sad an depressin lifes. its fact.

  • PETE WATERMAN!!!!!

  • what we conclude is:

1- the first was the BIG great version

2- the second was pure pop fun for a good cause

3- the last took too long to be done and it was too serious...depressive by the way...like that old Aids commercials

4- they should have done a 1995 version...who would be in it?

plz leave a msg and comment

  • Who were big stars in 1995? Take That MN8 Backstreet Boys Deuce Peter Andre East 17 Whigfield Robson & Jerome Boyzone PJ & Duncan Strike It would have been good I think.
