I've seen pretty convincing evidence that she was captured and killed by the japs. What incentive would they have to cover that up? We've already had Pearl Harbor.
For the Smithsonian's & National Geo's take on Earhart, and info about Hilary Swank's upcoming movie "Amelia" see the Irene-Amelia website. The site also clarifies some odd 'misinformation' rumors pertaining to Amelia's 1937 disappearance, and it examines the recent forensic realization of three different people who used the same identity. (Smithsonian & National Geographic are aware of it, but have so far remained silent about it.) Amelia's is difficult 'unresolved' history to be sure.
I do hope that the Julia (reborn Amelia) will not dissapear out of my life suddenly this time ...;) Nice to see you, dear Julia in your past life! ;) love marianne
Through blinding fog in the North Atlantic, across the vast, dazzling expanse of the South Pacific, into the strange harbors and along the mountainous coast lives the memory of Amelia Earhart and her Lockheed Electra.
The irene-amelia website features new llinks that examine national geographic's and wikipedia's profiling of the Earhart disappearance case. It's true people have a hard time with new and controversial information they were never aware of, but it is at least worthy of consideration...
YES ! I was Amelia in my past life. Lots of facts support this.During my life I also saw many dreams regarding this.
Was Amelia ment to die according to some secret plan ?
On the front page of the website you will find the reason why Amelia dissapered.
Astonishing secrets are revealed. Through the my past life experiences, Amelia is able to describe the last minutes before her death, why she was lost, the exact location of the airplaine and also why it is incredibly difficult to find her.
Re: the Irene-Amelia website, it's understandable how the more romantic viewpoints wish to move on from having to consider the things Admiral Nimitz and Commander Pillsbury said long ago about non-public Earhart case documentation, but the site holds true to Amelia always having been a great and beautiful person who was not a spy at all, rather, a patriotic American hero who inadvertently became somewhat subjugated by pre-WWII politics. People should not fear this controversy.
This was a promotion Amelia did for Hudson to launch the new 1932 Essex Terraplane. She smashed a bottle ov aviation fuel on the grille to christen it. The first car off the assembly line was given to Orville Wright and then there was a mass dealer drive-a-way of 2000 '32 Essex Terraplanes through the streets of Detroit. "Terraplane" meant "earth bound flight." It's unclear whether Amelia owned one of these cars herself but she did it to raise money for setting her flying records.
In the early 30's my father was a PR man, and also an avid home movie taker (16mm). This clip is from his movies, which I am slowly converting to DV. tcomden

Thank you for sharing this footage. My daughter did a film about her and we were unable to find any footage of her on the internet. This is precious.

A little glimpse of the great aviator doing her "day job" - getting some publicity to fund her expensive flights.
