The funny thing is he seems to know quite a bit about twilight, including the authors first and last name as well as the visual description of the characters.

is it me or does every 2 to 5 video there is a comment abut justin bieber, lady gaga , various rap artists, or those twilight movies or books? i'm just wondering because for some reason these people bring them up even though they say they hate them. I'm sorry i don't hate them...i respect what they do because the music industry is not an easy field to succeed in. but, i don't feel like i have to bring them up all the time either.

Thats a great comment Amigaos4, you've really summed up the philosophy of the song very well. It is an open interpretation and thats what makes it so special. My own sense of the song leads me to feel that there is a distinct draw from past times gone by, times that we didn't quite appreciate in the moment, but savor reflectively in hindsight. Yet, whilst drawn to the past, i am also thrust in to the future with a sense of hope, freedom and ventures new.

This song is beautiful.

Does it really matter, to what it means to someone. What it means to you is the most important and how it relate's to every individual differently, is there opinion. The song is a song of loosing yourself and finding something new, not knowing about it before. That is my opinion, do to it as you wish.

@amigaos4 i think the song is more about growing up, overcoming, and learning from events in the past. i think the character is also asking for freedom from his mother; saying i'm going over the mountain and starting a new life, you can't always see over a mountain so you have to trust that i've learned from the past and i will be all right in the future...so may the sunrise bring hope where it once was forgotten.

I just love Iron and Wine. They are so powerful in lyrical content. They sing all of their songs like poetic masterpieces. And not to mention their backround music is always different, and has a new sound each time... unlike many other bands.
