  • The religious institutions that fight gay marriage are the same ones that fought against abolition, civil rights, proper school education, etcetera. Hopefully the United States doesn't take two hundred more years to give gay people their well deserved privilages. Dozens of philosophers, economists, and other great thinkers have always said that the fastest and most effective way to build a better society is to give women power. I have a strong inclination that the second best is power to gays.

  • "All persons born or naturalized in the United States [...] are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States..." _14th Amendment of U.S. Constitution. The right of "marriage" or civil union or what-not is guaranteed in the fourteenth amendment. The fact that anti gay people think they can quote mine terms like "right" is just rediculous.

  • deserves a lot more than 1, 019 hits good stuff

  • Very good ideas, friend, you are clever

  • so i feel very adventurous today any guys want to have an adventure

  • Same-sex parenting has been around, long before the United States came along. Look at African tribes. Yes even the ones where some of our black friends and families come from. They have gay members in these tribes who play a very important role; such as, caring for the children while the other adults tend to other issues for their community. So same-sex parenting as been around for a very long time. And in some communities around the world, it is priced and well respected.

  • We should just make "marriage" be only given by churches. Make everyone have only civil unions...including straights. If someone wants to get "married" then they can do that at a church. Just like the state doesnt give a Bar Mitzvah, for example.

  • Much like pro-lifers, anti-gay marriage groups don't care about the kids. If pro-lifers really gave a damn about children they would be adopting them and taking care of these adopted kids. Same with the Anti-gay bigots. If they actually did this i doubt they would have time to sit and complain about other peoples love lives. Although, it's probably better that they don't. The less children these bigots can brainwash during childhood the better. (and yes this is Bill Hick's viewpoint.)

  • I have a terrible time playing this video.

I've had no problem playing any other videos, but this one always stops loading past 35 seconds.

    This happens every time.

  • I love to listen to your voice!

Oh, and you are obviously very smart and you make great points.

  • Unless NOM's gathering storm video, You actually make Good Valid Points based of facts, and not scare tactics! Way to go!

  • I'm not against gay marriage for any of the reasons above...

I'm against gay marriage for the same reasons that I'm against straight marriage.

Because it's an evil institution that has no place in modern society.

  • Are gay couples taking kids away from straight couples? Nope. From single parents? nope.

    From orphanages? Yes.

Is it better to have no parents, or two loving parents?

The "for the kids" argument is completely stupid. Especially because it assumes that there would be something wrong if the kids were brought up to believe that being gay was okay.

  • You know, I do believe I'd have a little less contempt for these people if they were just honest about what they think and what they want rather than engaging in this emotionally manipualative drivel: "We think homosexuals are dirty and sinful because our religion demands it of us and we don't want them to exist, much less have the same rights as other human beings." At least then there'd be no muddying of the waters and those of us with half an ounce of critical capacity can simply say:...

  • ..."We don't give a shit what your beliefs proclaim or require. They have application for you and you alone. No one else should be forced to take responsibility for them."

  • What's the music? I like your taste in music.

  • Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No 7 in B flat major, performed by Wui-Ming Gan

  • I'd rather have two hot moms than the parents i got stuck with :)

  • I think the real issue is they honestly believe homosexuality is a choice and the more homosexuality becomes acceptable the greater the danger their children will 'choose' to become one.

To them, homonsexuality MUST be a choice because a god that creates homosexuals & heterosexuals but then tells the homosexuals THEIR 'urges' are immoral but the hetero urges are blessed is a cruel and unjust god. Thus the 'gays' MUST have choosen to sin against god in this fashion.

    Great vid ABC

  • I've been through classes about child abuse and child protection. Marriage has absolutely nothing to do with either subject.

If you want to protect kids, learn how to read the signs of children who are living in 'troubled' households. Attacking same-sex marriage is simply a vile thing to do, and it accomplishes nothing.

Thank you, ABC. Once more, as always, great material to remember for the ages.

  • Atheistblindchick , In your information box section 3 you are missing a G in DOGMA

    Very good vid and rebuttal!

  • DOMA: The Defense Of Marriage Act.

    Thanks!

  • Ooooooohhh...... *blushes stupidly* ooooopssss...

  • stupid me, again, typing stuff that will not go properly through your text to speech thing. So sorry!

Ok, it is officially too late, I don't read properly and I'm CLEARLY not thinking before typing.

    Good night madam!

  • LOL Don't worry!

  • Where did all this B.S. about marriage being between two people come from anyway?

Haven't these people ever heard of Polygamy or Polyandry?

    Great videos!

  • I agree freetaught. The origins of marriage are so ancient and culturally diversified that it is nebulous. But as far as we can go in the history of marriage taught by sociologists, linguists and archeologists, we always seem to go back to an exchange of merchandises, I give you my daughter and you give me something else in return. The marriage ring is now a metaphor of the wrist bands that chained the woman to the man who owned her. Basically, it was slavery.

  • Yeah, which is why I have never been in favour of marriage. However, these days marriage brings with it certain legal protections, which is what this fight is all about...

  • But the thing we can be sure of, marriage first came before any actual religions existed, and it has strongly evolved following cultures and therefore cultural values. Why should it stop evolving? Let's ask conservative why they are so against progress.

  • I don't think they ever have, unless they're mormon or muslim... As for polyandry, I don't think these people even realize this concept exists...

    Thanks babe!

  • Perfectly said Atheistblindchick. ★★★★★

    Katalyzt

  • Thanks!

  • children need protection from abusive parents not gay parents. this protection of children nonsense is just absurd.

  • Exactly!

  • children are tools to further political agendas. it's kind of ridiculous.

if you're against gay marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. it's really rather simple and it baffles me that some people just don't accept that. if you want the government to ban something, you had better have ACTUAL evidence of detrimental effects of that thing.

  • I couldn't agree more.

  • Well done.

  • I always felt it was creepy that the government can decide who can marry and who can't.

Even if gay marriage were wrong, why do people think this automatically makes it morally acceptable for government to intervene?

  • "Even if gay marriage were wrong, why do people think this automatically makes it morally acceptable for government to intervene?"

Exactly. The role of governments in consitution based democracies is to give as much freedom to the citizens as can be, which means that if my freedom doesn't directly threatens your own freedom, that there is no victim, then this freedom becomes a right and cannot be threatened by our governments.

  • Why do they keep going on the line of 'think of the kids!'?

Since when did couples have to be married to have kids? Kids have been raised by gay parents for a long time now. WTF does marriage have to do with the kids?

  • Kids are the ultimate tools in every types of propagandas. They're even used for selling tires.

  • What is the best way to scare people? To make them believe their kids are in danger...

  • The 'think of the kids' angle shits me to tears.

Is THAT all they've got? Even the bloody pro-life movement has better arguments than that (barely).

What's worst of all, is that there's thousands of people who will actually take this NOM commercial seriously
