Whether the Cape was inhabited or not is irrelevant because the criteria for being indigenous is whether one's culture & identity was shaped there. This is true for the Boers. Just as few would deny the Zulus are indigenous to south eastern South Africa despite arriving on & displacing the aboriginal Khoisan people who were there. The Boers HAD self determination from 1852 until almost 1903 & never regained it again as they were displaced by the Afrikaner which prevented Boer self determination.

This is a most complicated question because of how much the answer cuts across racial lines. First of all the Boers have had historically strong alliances with the Zulus. Andries Pretorius was in an open alliance with King Mpande of the Zulus & this is how the Natalia Republic was established. Then in 1840 the Boers & Zulus exchanged rocks of peace on the anniversary of the battle of Dec 16 at Ncome River in a spirit of reconciliation.

By the way safrica isn't rich - all that wealth was spent in the 50s,60s and 70s building the infrastructure which is now falling apart. If you still live there and hate it why don't you do what 2.5 milion white people have already done and leave.
