Yes, not enough knife but it will do. ; - ). I appreciate that you work with knives daily and I agree with having a big knife for all the reasons you mentioned. Yep I can understand entirely the gear collecting. Good tools for great memories.
That was my favorite bird as a child... IDK why... my father told me it was called a killdeer, because it supposedly sounds like it's saying that... never made that connection.
@swibo6 Hey Swibo6 first of all great video. I've really wanted to know what the knife at 3:15 is the fold able one with the holes along its handle or should I buy your current fold able knife as I really like both of them.
Always great to hear your philosophy on things swibo! Excellent scenery at the begining as well. Amazing area you have as was the last one(s) you shared in vids!
Can you explain more about the law regarding pistols? Is it a caliber-based law, or...? I've seen you out with a shotgun, which makes sense for bears, but do they really base your gun rights on grizzlies rather than humans? If you know what I mean... Wow, great vid man, very valid points....but that blew my mind...in Canada?!
Thanks for another great video! The philosophy side of bushcraft, to me at least, is as interesting and important as the hands on. Once out in the woods, next to your skills, what you have most of is time to think.
it's nice to see the more you know the less you need...I would love to see your ideas for a 10 piece kit for all weather for your area..i guess like here it depends on the season but you choose....later
What in the world did that Bear see at 1:23 to spook it ?......
oohh....nice...a Kabar. And a nice little Ruger .22 perfect for small game.
If you had kept going...you would have ended up with bulding supplies, solarpanels, wind generators, cable and finally....lightspeed internet service with computers....lol
Great video and very informative and assuring. I always try to have my "what I might needs," and room for my "what I want to haves" with me like books and such. It's great to be able to enjoy nature and just being out in it. Even it's just finding a sunny spot and reading a book. Sometimes I wonder, "Do I really need that in my pack?" But why not if I want too take it. Your video was wonderful and I really appreciate it : )
You are spot on about people going out to only practice their skills. The whole reason I go out and spend time in the woods is to just enjoy nature and the earth, all the survival stuff is the hobby to me. But a very important hobby none the less!
Great points. People need to consecrate on having a good time. I have acquired a lot of gear myself over the years some cheap and some expensive. I will not change my life style for a piece of gear though. That defeats the purpose. Some people take this to serious. You cannot enjoy life if your sitting around saving up for a piece of gear. Great video!
Sure you have a lot of gear, you probably wouldn't buy again, but you only know that because of the experience you've gained. Some of it you'll hang onto for redudancy or the what if scenario, but the hard part is selling off the things you know you don't need.
Also remember, if it's fun, it isn't survival, it's camping. So yes, water container, mora, firesteel and space blanket might be all you need to survive, but it's not all you'll want for an enjoyable weekend. Thanks for the video.
Good stuff :o) It all depends on where you're goin' and for how long, and what you're doin' when you get there. My pack changes constantly from trip to trip :o) I also wish we could take pistoli's to the bush but it's something all Canadians deal with!
good video. really made me think about my mountain of gear. its funny, but ive referred to others as "gear whores" when if id lay out all my stuff like you did, id need a whole room. my gear does cover multiple interests and all seasons, though. and i always buy at the low end of the price scale, and/or improvise and make my own if possible. i suddenly feel like selling it all and starting over.
Good to see youre putting out videos again! I wonder what my gear collection would look like in comparison to yours. Like you, i try to pick out my stuff very purposefully but im honestly a little scared to see what it amounts to.
nice gear. And it looks well used! I appreciate you bringing up the topic about not going into debt over stuff you dont really need. Many of us Americans have fallen way into the gotta ahve it now credit card trap. And we always want the newest and best gear that we are too busy to use. Because we are working to pay for it.
