  • So much detail for a prop on a map that not many people even notice. Love your dedication to detail.

  • Tesselation rocks !

  • Tesselation is the greatest invention in the history of mankind

  • @TerrorBlack i agree

  • all this dx11 is cool enough, but how wont it take to make a game with those grapichs? :P like 5 years.

(ps. this was a joke, i know what im talking bout' ^^)

  • so many subdivisions O_O

  • so is unigin a game engine? you can make games or what?

  • I like how the FPS drops to almost 1/3 or 1/4 of what it is without tesselation.

Five of these crabs on the beach and you're viewing a slideshow!

  • @SkedgySky Even 1 crab can bring gpu to its knees if its made of Billion polygons, even an eye of that crab can stop PC from runnng. The point is that crabs dont need that polycount, here we see just a tech demo. I think this crab would look the same even if it was 100 times less detailed and that definitely won't get you a slideshow. Also check NVDIA's GTC 2010 demo. 1.3 Billion polys are rendered realtime using tessellation and Fps is decent.

  • so whats tesselation mean

  • GIANT ENEMY CRAB.

  • giant enemy crab

  • GTX 400 series is like Win Vista to Microsoft :D

  • You've got a big bag of crabs there, and i'm gonna put 'em in my mouth, OH YES!

  • ATI's HD cards is the best from any other cards like nvidia cards.

and directX 11 only can be use Vista SP2 and 7 or better only.

  • craaaaaaab people

  • @halvora LOL

  • That's what I'm talking about for about 2 years, and no one seems to listen....ATI cards have built-in hardware acceleration for tesselation since the radeon 9000 series.

Now microsoft incorporated it in DirecX 11...

  • ATI's Tessellation isn't as advanced as DX11's. DX11's has many more features that make it worth while for developers. Not to mention by incorporating it in DX11, it becomes cross hardware compatible. So developers don't need to say "Oh well tessellation is only going to work on ATI cards, so It's not worth implementing". But we still need to wait for the widespread adoption of DX11 cards, which will take a good 2 years to grow a good user base.

  • Radeon 8500 supports TrueForm as well.

  • @raonipaes 480 GTX will do tessellation better than the 5870.

  • @ATLMember you sir are naive.

  • @project785 How so?

  • @raonipaes tessilation has only been around since dx10.1. i dont know if the 9000 series is or not. but you can find tessilation demos done with 10.1 on nvidia and ati cards that are about 2 years old. i have never seen tessilation on anything lower than 10.1

  • @KingOfSand100 DirectX 10.1 came out February 4, 2008, OpenGL 2.1 came out July 2, 2006. Tessellation has been around since then.

  • @GodofGrunts i have never ssen any tessilation demos before 10.1. im not saying you are wrong i just never seen any tessilation in OpenGL 2.1.

  • @raonipaes Yep, You're thinking of Truform and according to Wiki its was introduced with the 8500! and it was definitely tessellation. It may have just be around the edges of rounded objects I don't really know. I'll have to research it! :)

  • @raonipaes

are you saying that the r350 supported tesselation?

  • What is the performance difference? (Max and without)

  • not much i think, maybe something about 10 to 20 FPS of difference... but honestly i hope that there is no much than that...

  • Yeah, that IS pretty amazing!

  • Omg that is rediculous!
