I had a mother who was very much like Caroline Ingalls! We are a Christian family, and she put so much faith in God, as our father was traveling so much when I was little. She stood up to a very tall guy, he looked like a giant to me, and told him if he hurt any of us kids, that he would be a sorry man with God. And that man turned around and got in his car and took off. Needless to say, we never saw him again! We should all be that bold.

he should of started fiddling and made it into a song hehe..its funny how in this time of american history people knew what was really important to them..family ...the land.. neighbors etc but now weve come to worry about our cell phones cars and jobs in which were making osmeone else wealthy while we neglect whats important to us.. family our land and the people we live around... everything is ass backwards now and we have capitalism to blame.

Good points, and very true. And more than land and family, but how we make peace with people who are our neighbours on the land, even when our claims compete and we seem inscrutible to each other. True friends can be found in the most unlikely places, like that chief.

@rickhorror I wouldn't blame capitalism, I would blame culture. He didn't value neighbors, he moved from the big woods because he could hear and see neighbors. He must not have cared about family that much because he left them. And the land is important because that's how he made his living. Those are nice things, but life was really hard back then and I'm glad to live now. They almost died multiple times in pursuit of a better life.

@rickhorror Except that they had **much,much,much more** capitalism back then in America. Capitalism,approximately defined,is when people truly own their own property - as opposed to government bureaucrats. (Also,corporations have nothing to do with capitalism,from what I understand. Their getting all of that legal protection has nothing to do with true capitalism.)
