  • Jaki God..

  • prefer live to studio....amazing!

    TX!!

  • I know everyone says this, but - those drums *are* amazing

  • The rhythm section is brilliant.

  • thanks!!

  • maybe more convincing than studio version, if possible.

  • i am very happy to have knowed, after much searching, The Can. I was born in brazil, i am 17 yo and my felling is that the world is becoming like orwell has written in 1984: without memory, I am not a Marxist but in these hours I can understand why he lamented the phenomenon of the generations. Well, I still survive...

  • QUE BOM QUE NASCI EM 1960

QUE RUIM QUE NASCI NO BRASIL

  • the album version is a lot better imo.

  • Also, these are just my opinions.

I shan't treat them as facts.

It just gets me flamed when other people get flamed over opinions in music.

I could be just as ignorant as the last troll, but I digress..

  • @Godscarmachine

"as the last troll" listen to myself. I sound as if I'm calling myself a Troll

I mean by that "I could be just as ignorant as your typical troll"

For all I know I could be.

I am rather spamming this page. But I don't like deleting comments, and you can't edit them on youtube.

    OI!

As I said before, let's just listen to CAN!

  • LETS JUST LISTEN TO CAN

    Or not.

  • It's a pretty fearsome grove for a bunch of white kids from Germany...Damo comes on like some kind of Siberian shaman. Pity the sound isn't a bit better, but boy they blow the ass clean out of this number. Can rule!

  • dude sounds like 3 drummers in one.. amazing!!

  • o° D

  • Seriously good for your health :-)

  • "searching for my brothel , yes I am!"...

    ...

  • Happy Mondays made an entire career copying this one song.

  • @FWFWFWF

    how fucking true!!!!!

  • alot of this band from 70's were underrated, this band had great musicians capable of much more

  • can someone upload this with better quality please

  • @ma5t1ka Yeah Im sure there are just high quality video of Can lying all over the place lol

  • love it

  • nasty fucking drummer.. crazy choppy groove he's laying down

  • Liebezeit = groove

  • Blillant!

  • Damo briefly channels Little Richard just after 5:19. :))

  • Comment removed

  • Jaki is a fucking octopus on drums. Watch 2:11 and on. The way he moves is crazy. Perfect.

  • Happy Mondays

  • best krautrock song ever ....

  • Wow.... Whatever some people aren't ready for this.. That beat is impossible.. It's so difficult to keep in metronomic time like Jaki does. This definitely isn't the best version of halleluhwah but it's interesting to see how Jaki makes up for the layered drums in the original studio recording.

  • wow, you've done an excellent job of proving your stupidity to everyone who watches this video.

  • @Iamcola65 i mean spell hallelujah right

i realise the irony so please dont point it out

  • @Iamcola65 looked at your blog and really can't decide if you're being ironic or if you really the complete and utter dick you come across as. Don't think you're clever enough for irony so I;m going for the latter option.

  • I hope you're mom gets deported haha.

  • Says the guy who likes Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, and Foo Fighters. *rolls eyes and sighs*

  • @Brekky57 atleast I don't enjoy illegal immigrants! you too should be deported for this

  • @Iamcola65 For listening to music?

  • It's not just music, it's glorification of un-americanism

  • @Iamcola65 They are a German band. Why would they glorify another country? And I don't see them glorifying or unglorifying any country, for that matter.

  • @Iamcola65

Hey lammy, your brain is an immigrant and your body wants it deported.

Eject your brain, you have no need for it!

  • @Iamcola65 that's the funniest sentence I've read in ages, all though it is barely a sentence...

  • @cottageorgan "allthough its blablabla" YOU THINK UR FUCKING SMART

  • @Iamcola65 temper, temper. Don't blow a gasket. Deep breath, count to ten and you'll feel a lot better.

  • @Iamcola65 Just for the record, I looked at your channel. Seeing as you are such a big Foo Fighters fan, Dave Grohl never played bass for Nirvana. He was the guy at the back, on the drums, which makes him a drummer, oh yeah, and also, you're a nasty xenophobic racist little piece of shit, the kind of person your big hero Dave Grohl wouldn't piss on if they were on fire, send him a link to see what he thinks about your jew hating homophobia. Get a life you sad prick!!!

  • @cottageorgan I never said I hated jews! Not homophobia either but I guess that is explained by me hating this shit gay band HA!

  • @Iamcola65

There are valid opinions, then there is disrespect.

I HATE Ke$ha, but her muisc is a valid art form, and should still be considered music. I don't go around saying "Her music is gay, and dumb" despite my utter hatred of it, many MANY other people like it, and I know some that do , and they are good people. So it must not be completely horrible. Then there are people in violent defense of the ones you dislike. *looking at cottageorgan*. That kind of retaliation is ignorant as well.

  • @Iamcola65 I had a look at your sad excuse for a Channel and you can't even spell 'Sabbath'. Most of the musicians you idolise would pity you for your xenophobia.

  • @markhadman fuk u foggot wat do u kno

  • Damo is the sh1t! and CAN is a toilet! lol

  • I can't believe I never heard of these guys till 2 years ago.

  • That was crazy, you tube is the shit!!!

  • Jaki is not a Drummer. Jaki is a Metronom. Fantastic

  • Jaki love time

  • tago mago blew my mind when I first heard it and Jaki Liebiezeit is the greatest drummer ever!

  • yeah, I'm addicted to CAN too, envolving straight ahead sound

  • hahaha damn niceee performance :D

  • Comment removed

  • Could'nt help listening to it about 50 times since a week

    Addicted

  • Yeah, where's it all from? Any links?

  • It's from a 2006 WDR broadcast. It was a 10 hour Krautrock special including lots of rare footage. The 6 DVDs are on mininova (search for "Krautrock Nacht").

  • Thanks a bunch! I am going to check that out.

  • Where did you get all this Can footage?

  • This shit kicks ass!

  • Es lebe der Can! "Liebeszeit" = "Loves keeping time"! Jaki is not just a metronome, he's a "hypnonome"...

  • And time he kept in every way. And yes, he is the hyptnotic human-beyondmachine!

  • Leibziet is one of my favorite drummers. Hours and hours later, I'm still working on getting this beat Leibziet-solid!

Check out his newer albums with Burnt Friedman called "Secret Rhythms" - very, very cool and unusual beats on those albums.

  • this shows that jaki liebezeit and a metronome, is in fact, the same thing.

the drumming is awesome and so precise! Funk me up!

  • Long live to CAN!

  • Worship the drums, a tribal funk masterpiece.

  • guardare questo video ti spalla già di suo, poi se ci metti un po' di roba buona sballa ancora di piu'

  • thats some fucking drumming skill!

  • Liebzeit is one of my favorite drumers ever, what a beat!

  • This is just an INCREDIBLE, INFECTIOUS groove on the "Tago Mago" album from 1971. ALL 18 MINUTES OF IT!

  • Cheers Humpty! Didnt know, gonna go. Live in Mcr.

  • I like this track, the singer Damo Suzuki will play at Night & Day cafè in Machester on April 2nd...

  • Massive influence on Happy Mondays.

  • Thanks jenshalen for uploading this rare gem!

  • a great german band

  • circle makes kind of interesting music but can in their prime were way more potent and daring than circle has ever been

that being said, different strokes for different folks. just realize that can's definitive music comes out of the early 70s; circle's first album was 1994.

  • SEARCHING FOR MY BROTHER YES I AM!

  • And then:

    SEARCHING FOR MY BROTHER

LET HIM, LET HIM, LET HIM UP!

    Brilliant! :D

  • is that what hes saying? wow i never could tell lol

  • excellent groupe...

  • can or circle ? huh, i couldn't pick.

  • Can? they were a great band, the best track they did according to my folk was the can can.

I almost gave Damo and his entourage (2005) a lift from the airport, but my car wasnt big enuff.

despite the Can Can, i love every other track, nice it was in the film Morvern Caller

  • I gace Damo a lift to the Post Office once, he was going to pay his electricity bill. He was farting the entire journey.

  • the entirety of circle's career isn't as good as the fucking drums in this song

  • I see the original post now -- that guy's insane, Circle doesn't do krautrock at all

  • circle are alright but can shit on them, let's be frank

  • Love this song, thanks for posting.

  • great western deutschland rundfunk the true supporters of music.

  • This is quite, quite brilliant. Blows everything around today into the weeds. Awesome.

  • circle does krautrock a little bit better, but can is awesome

  • which amounts to saying Oasis do Brit rock better than The Beatles, but whatever really

  • these are entirely different types of music, and each band has different characteristics far unworthy of a stupid oasis/beatles comparison.

  • I agree that it's stupid -- Gainsbourg/Stereolab analogy might have served the purpose better, perhaps -- but not nearly so as your initial comment. best of all is the "a little bit better" bit, signifying probably that you've got the exact proportions of talent figured out mathematically

I have a lot of respect for Circle and hope to see them live one day, but you can't beat Can at their game

  • Uh, are you serious? Have you listened to the other albums up to and including Soon Over Babaluma? Dang, dude. You're not too bright.

  • Can and Circle are two different animals that have been put into the same mold. There aren't many bands that can genre bend on an album to album basis like circle. Can made music very organically, whereas circle does everything intentionally, where there is no room for accident. Can was notorious for splicing tape loops of improv to make a song, while circle would jam a song into creation, record the rythm live, record the rythm section live, then overdub the rest. completely different.

  • Damo's hair is awesome

  • cazzo fratelli questi Can sono proprio stratosferici, cioè....ehm...una gran storia...

  • CAN=Couldn't Ask for Nothing better! thanks for the vid!

  • Nice video add, appreciated. Been a Can fan for a while. This is the first non Tago Mago Halleluhwah I've heard. A very influential ensemble are Can. Tago Mago is a great album.

  • ..."Simple", but extremely EXPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!... that's what is all about.

  • This video was what made me go and buy Tago mago and made me a Can fan simply amazing, what a groove.

  • you can easily say this is THE greatset krautrock band ever

  • masterpiece.however i prefer studio version.
