How to Root 2.3.3 Official Droid X Gingerbread

hello i tried to do the root but it wont enter bootloader it only shows the little android logo wich is the little green robot and it just stays there can you help me out

The Stock FroYo Restore File is the wrong one. The one in the description box is for the Droid X2 and will not work with the Droid X.

into about 6 minutes you said that it wouldn't continue because there was some stuff still on the device. Then there was the pause. And no answer as to what needed to be done. Really appreciate you taking the time and effort to put up a video like this. But that just left me wondering.....do I want to do this following this guys path? I will just need to watch several and piece together the correct way. I just need to find someone who is articulate in their description of what they are doing.

WOW Thank you so much for making this video. I was able to root with minor setbacks. First, RDS Lite was recognizing my phone so I restarted my computer and opened RDS Lite. It saw my phone no problems. Second, to get into the bootloader, you need to press the camera+voulme down+power buttons not the home button. Hopefully my experience will hwlp out others.

Why are you so non specific about the first 4 things we need to download? No idea whether I dl them on my phone or upload from pc? And were exactly do I find them and specifically which ones/version?

It isn't working for me! When i turn off the phone at start after doing the RSD lite thing and turn it on with Power, volume down, and home button i hold them in and then the motorola thing pops up i keep holding in then suddenly a picture with the android thing and a yellow reclamation mark pops up and I have to take out the battery to make it turn on .... D:<

@SynikaI On some phones you actually need to Hold Camera Button, Vol Down, and Power. The Home button, Vol Down, and Power does the same thing to me as well.

@1domeso Im having the same issue. I upgraded the rsdlite to 5.6 also but noticed the sbf link you supplied was for 4g. So I probably need a different sbf file but I dont know where to find it. Any new links? Im not techy at all, I had to watch your video about 10 times before I felt comfortable to get to the resdlite stage...help?

did everything to the t, and was successful on rooting my DroidX...then it started freezing on the boot and was going to the boot menu, and a couple days later started freezing in the boot animation screen, now when i try to open boot loader, it says "Code Corrupt"...any ideas???

@PokemonDesigner z4 root v. 1.3.0 works fine on the included gingerbread .sbf. If it is just spinning around and around saying rooting pull the battery reboot and run z4 again

At 5:58 you say you have to clear all the stuff left on there by Gingerbread or it wont boot up, then it just cuts and your done. What did you do there. I dont want to brick my phone....please explain.

@00through09 go back into the bootloader (volume power home), open RSD Lite and restore back to the .sbf file again

@maddetox once you plug in your phone via usb the drivers will automatically install, then it should detect your device on RSD lite.
