this thing is also native to venezuela, another name for it is the amazonian giant centipede, this thing can kill pets and small children and can grow up to a foot and a half long, fortunately these creatures do have their own predators such as large birds ,reptiles and even coyotes ,this is literally the biggest centipede in the world,

We have these in Puerto Rico too.And yes they are very dangerous..One killed my 4 year old dobermen,my dobermen was asleep and one of those things crawled up on her and when she woke up it stung her in the leg :'( and the vet said that she would make it but.....she died the next day :'( and My friend was stung by one and nearly died...So yes for those people who say that these things are not dangerous I don't care how smart you are..These thing are very dangerous!!!..R.I.P Gordy the Dobermen

They really arent dangerous. Unless you have severe allergic reactions to their venom or if you are unhealthy/old/very very young, you will die from its bite. Other than that, there has been no reports of healthy, young people with no allergies to their venom dying. These animals are seriously misunderstood by many people, along with scorpions and Tarantulas. But of course, certain scorpions, like the LQ and AA can kill humans, even healthy ones, although its rare.

I'm not an expert on bugs, but i understand it enough to stomp it without thinking twice about it. Why? They go into places they shouldn't and toward u while ur minding ur own business and next thing ya know, ur "bit" and are gonna be in pain and swollen, not to mention the headache, racing pulse, nausea and vomiting. I think that would constitute danger for most pple hehe. Besides, they r very abundant, so it's not like a few less crawlers r gonna make a difference. Just my 2 cents.

@handom85 Firstly, they do not know where and where not they should venture to. They dont have complex brains like humans and they wander where they think is safe from predators/find food. Second, centipedes dont seek us out to kill us. In fact, humans are more likely to kill them. Like you said, " i understand it enough to stomp it without thinking twice about it". And 3rd, they are not as abundant as u think. Pedes are poached to sell to hobbyist. Like certain tarantulas, some are endangered.
