That explains why one should wait 30 minutes AFTER a thunderstorm has passed by before heading back outside. You never know when a "bolt from the blue" will come out from the storm and strike an area where it's sunny out...or at least where there's no rain.

@Dac719 If you are talking about the 30/30 rule, the National Weather Service no longer recommends that.
