  • i had the same problem after putting close to 3 grand into my dsm i stopped killing kidding myself i went and bought myself an 91 e30 coupe 3.2L v6 i still have my 98 dsm but its more of a show car now

  • you don't really need to spend to much money on your DSM to make it faster i will bit that m3 with my car and i haven't put that much money on my engine best time at 1/4 mile i did 12.92 a stock M3 will run 13.31/4 Mile ET: 13.340

    1/4 Mile MPH: 102.500

    1/8 Mile ET: 8.611

    1/8 Mile MPH: 81.930

    0-60 Foot ET: 1.944

  • @oddy730 Very true and if all you care about is acceleration bang for your buck then the M3 is a waste of money. It serves as my DD and fun car, has awesome looks, fit, comfort etc and out of the box good power and reliable. I've always said you get what you pay for, it always holds true.

    I would never buy a BMW brand new though, buy one a few years old after it depreciates.

  • A stock '05 M3 runs high 12s/low 13s. With your mods, mid 12s? A stock GSX runs high 14s/low 15s. An M3 makes 333 hp and weighs 3,400 lbs. A GSX makes 215 and weighs around 3,200. An AWD DSM with an Evo III 16g and supporting mods should be running at least sub 12.5s and making 350-400 whp. Even from a roll it's hard to see how the DSM couldn't keep up. So yeah there's something wrong with this DSM, unless the turbo isn't supported well or it's untuned.

  • wow dude in GST/X sucks ass for one 30 roll in a GST/GSX is 1st gear, (or it is in my car) and a 45 roll is 2nd you gave the gst/x the raw end of the rolls go from a dig with a good driver or just let gst/x pick his own gear and re-run

  • i have driven both of this and curruently have a gst ... if u wanna go to the track and run11s go wit the gst gsx .just make sure u put 6-8 grand on the engine .. an m3 is just a little bit of everything luxury fast sport and u pretty much get respect no matter were u go.

  • @98eclipsegst1 thats not 100% ture dude i dropped only $800 in mods in my previous GST and it would keep pase with a beamer. Its not the price of the mods its how you get them and if you got the right ones. My current DSM i payed $800 for the whole car and with maybe 1k in mods it will blow the doors off a bmw because of previous owners work. its just how lucky you get sometimes lol

  • with the 2g eclipses, can u just swap the turbo for a bigger one and the one you put in will run at the same psi as the last with no tuning?? and if u have to tune how do you do it?? planning on getting a 95 gst

  • there is a great big price diff in these two cars, but all those rolling pulls would have been a lot quicker without the extra 500lbs from the AWD conversion...just saying

  • @silverstreak328 pick the right dsm and you can get a little more than your money's worth, I spent 4k over book value on mine and I still firmly believe that I got what I payed for.

  • Either that DSM didn't have an Evo III 16g, or he was in desperate need of a tune. A well tuned DSM with an EVO III 16g is capable of running 11's.

  • my buddy has a 2005 m3 with an intake and exhuast... raced a gsx AWD with a FP green turbo, bigger injectors, big ass frontmount, 3500 spool automatic. we raced from the dig and we ripped it off the line! RWD and everything!!!

    With that large intercooler it can over heat b/c it blocks all primary contact with air to the radiator, this is common knowledge in the dsm world. A slimmer intercooler is more efficient for street driving. In other cases such as drag racing, where it is only a short distance traveled, a large intercooler is fine and in large turbo cases, necessary.

    Seen a few large FMIC installs that ran cooler than my dsm with its crappy smic.. I think it has something to do with the ducting, have to create high and low pressure zones to keep the air actually moving and not slowing down.. i know theres increased heat and its harder to get air to the radiator, but if the pressure zones are done right it should work ine

  • @itachi20007 all those mods ? are u serious ? they only listed it a ported evo 3, a 6 bolt head and a awd swap.......if this is all he has he has no supporting mods for the turbo he should have useda 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt block smh ur supposed to port the 7 bolt head so its like the 6 bolt head...and if you are just gonn race from a roll u should have left it fwd awd just added more weight
