  • Does anyone know the author and title of picture in 4:45?

  • Wolves in the Throne Room played at a bar half an hour away 2 weeks ago but i couldn't go cause it wasn't an all ages show and i'm only 16 years old

  • plz post the lyrics...

  • Spiritual, phenomenal.

    Hail thee, Fen.

  • I love The post- rock/punk drums. :3

  • It's like Agalloch and Drudkh had a love -child.

  • Seriously.. Who hit dislike on this? I normally listen to DnB and/or less instrumental based stuff and I like this a lot. I guess whoever that was simply doesn't like music period.

  • @BarakaObama2012 Or, you know, just simply has a taste that differs from yours.

  • @BurglaryoftheSenses Yea or not.

  • I like the hollow primal nature of the drum sound too. Works for me... :)

  • takes me back to painfull times, many times society don't include us like one of them, but here we are left behind in the cold, just waiting for the final call, here we live in this era of racism, wars, hate, desolation, broken, fuck, how can fucking humanity be as ignorant as it is, but i guess this is just the real life, FTW,FTS,FUT,FUA, it goes on and on "live",sdrawkcab

  • @fforced C'est la Vie!

  • the drums are excellent. Its called post-metal, get used to it, its the future.

  • Snare sound is a bit out of place, but I love the song anyway!

  • I think the drums are actually lovely

  • awsome

  • great atmosphere!

  • the drum sounds ruins it for me. that hollow sound, like hitting a tin drum

  • I quite liked that actually. Sounds different, mysterious, much like the rest of the song and indeed the genre.

  • Agreed. Agalloch's Ashes Against the Grain had this problem for me too. Fantastic 5 star album regardless, but man if only the drums had reverb!

  • Maybe voices sounds like Agalloch, but i think there is a big difference between these bands... Agalloch are way better I think.

  • I like this a lot kinda reminds me of agalloch.

  • You re pretty right! Me too and got a fav! :D Didn't knew the band just started hearing to it! :P

  • agalloch are actually killer

  • its all good dude, yea we don't get many good bands my way either

  • Why is everybody so much talking about post-rock influences in Black Metal, while just can't find those influences. It's bit more rocky, I agree. But post-rock is so much more different, I can't here the dynamics and progression, nor the melodies to be found in post-rock, in none of those bands, that claim to play post-rock influenced Black Metal.

  • Because of the style of the clean vocals, and because some sections do sound like post-rock, although i agree with your observations.

I think the band that sounds the most post-rock influnced is alcest, specially Souvenirs d'un autre monde

  • Clean vocals has nothing to do with post-rock, probably 90 percent of those bands don't even have vocals. What do you see as post-rock actually?

  • That's true, but alcest's vocals remind me a little of the ones in sigur ross, just lower pitched, but it's a personal appreciation anyway.

I know fen, for example, doesn't sound much like GSY!BE or explosions in the sky, but their music recreates that feeling of in immensity and the emphasis on calm atmospheres listened for the first time in post rock composition - so i think that's the reason of the comparison.

But we must admit that even the term "postrock" isn't all that clear

  • Epic. I listened to them when they released their EP but I have already forgotten about them until now

  • this is amazing. but to me, this song individually, isnt very atmospheric, most of their music is. just this song, the drums makes it almost melodic. somthing you would wanna sing along to. just my ears and opinion though ;)

  • brilliant!

  • saw them live at Agalloch

    Fukin brilliant

  • Fen/Agalloch...thats a fucking great combination dude...gonna see them live with "Dornenreich" soon :)

  • ahh....fail...where did you get to see those 3? two of my favorite artists, and a third (fen) whom is very good as well!! Living in the state of Washington USA sucks.....no black metal over here....

  • Check out Wolves In The Throne Room if you have not heard of them already...excellent Black Metal from Washington USA. Three full lengths out and i highly recommend them all!

  • I heard of them! Thanks, friend! You have driven me to try and see them live sometime.

  • you misunderstood, i will see fen as dornenreichs support. fen/agalloch WOULD be a good combo :)

fen together with wolves in the throne room would also be an eargasmic overload ^^

  • Much agreed to all, but I am still confused as to what you mean by "dornenreichs support." I understand that you mean that you did not actually see dornenreich live?

  • not yet...on 17th september i will :)

  • Alright then. Very nice! I hope you enjoy yourself!!

  • well what about ash pool or rigor sardonicous, they're american??

  • thanks for the recommendations. I will dig in. though they are american, neither they nor any other black metal bands have come around my little part of washington... Mayhem came awhile back which was nice. But the presence of a single band only leaves one hungry for more. *grumble*

  • I'm so glad that a lot of black metal is moving in the direction that Fen is taking. It's an amazing thing that they're doing with the genre.

  • I believe that more than fen, the originators of this movement were bands like shining in the begining with their IV release, and then much strongly band like lifelover or amesoeurs and alcest

  • Masterpiece !!! ,the whole album.

    Absolutely amazing stuff !

  • Wow, simply AMAZING!

  • :oooooooo fucking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fen is amazing

  • Black metal + Post-rock!! <3

  • yeaahhh... this is awesome.. fen rules!!

  • awesome new band!

it would be nice to see them live with agalloch

  • Ha, I am seeing them live with agalloch in March!!

  • Holy shit.. : D

  • @Kasparow Imagine a New Wave of Black Metal Tour, featuring Agalloch, Fen, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Cobalt. I would traverse a thousand barren frozen tundra's to be in attendance.

  • i cant stop listening xD

    amazing band :)

  • I love Fen! This is such a beautiful song.
