  • he u killin me when u say your gonna tthrow tose babby plants throwem this way lol

  • really awesome video... tnx very much for sharing. Btw, your reservoir should be jet black if possible, reason being no light should ever get to the water otherwise algae is certain to appear.

  • @falinx101 I just use Physan 20 in my water and don't get algae in the first place.

  • @falinx101 PS: Algae is ugly, but won't hurt the plant.

  • Thank you for the upload!

  • Great video, thanks so much! I had no clue what wick watering was and now I do :)

  • was size av is that? how long can it live in that pot too? thanks

  • @kidneys3 --It's a miniature, it will always be in that size pot.

  • Great explanation. Thank you for teaching others.

  • thank you very much for this information. much appreciated.

  • soap decreases surface tension of water. It's less likely to form beads and will soak into the wick better.

  • Can you use anything else besides mason line and acrylic yarn?

  • @Incredibleisaac2 Anything synthetic. Anything like cotton or silk will rot.

  • Thank you for this video. I put all my african violets wick watering and they looks happy. I have a question, why the wick or the water( not sure) smell some strong after few days they are water. I wash the container and rinse the piece of the wick tha comes out of the pot every time I put new water. Thanks. Luisa.

  • Isnt it bad to leave stagnant water.....you said you that you change water like 3 weeks

  • @muslimsahibtorun Not really sure what you mean.. I didn't say I change the water, I just refill it (ie: top it off). The plant absorbs it, so it needs to get refilled. :-)

  • @m3rma1d yup i know wat you mean by the plants absorbs it...im doing sub irrigation for my african violet...wat im concern about is, since the water stays stagnant as it waits for the plant to aborbs it. Will there be side effects? As we know stagnant water will result in things like bateria, fungial or even alge growth which could lead to diesease that attack the african violet roots. Sorry im very new to all these. I jus got my african violet last week...lol...1st plant 1st time planter... :)

  • @muslimsahibtorun Algae can form but it really doesn't hurt anything, just doesn't look pretty.

  • my question is one drop of dish detergent to HOW MUCH water? Just what's in the cup?

  • @cja0071 yep.

  • Hi, This video is just what I was looking for. I've always bought an african violet that looked good at the garden center and watered, let it dry out , and die. I had no idea about this wicking technique. I've never seen a varigated leaf one. I'll give it a try. Thanks

  • @tmc200527 Glad you found it helpful! Check the blog for lots more African violet videos and tips!
