As "Butterfly Boy" (love that title) mused over afterwards, either Yomi wanted to die and not to hurt Kagura so she suppressed the powers of the Death Stone or the Death Stone granted her earlier wish that her desire was to protect Kagura from all miseries, even if the source was Yomi herself.

I ,for one, cried at the ending, it's sad - sure, but that doesn't make it bad - it had it's intended empathic effect to an extreme effect,

I knew from the beginning that they'll fight and Yomi will die, i would rather have an ending which Kagura and Yomi live together and they dont have to fight each other like this. @lanky5678 Kagura and Yomi definitely love each other in a sisterly way however, some (including me) could see their relationship as yuri because of how both of them care about each other to the point of dying for each other. Basically, it's really your opinion to decide whether or not that "I love you" is considered sisterly or yuri.

Poor, poor li'l Kagura :( Her final moments with Yomi and those mooks was one of the most anguished scenes I've seen for any anime character.

She is quite a strong person after all if she manages to "keep her heart" after all this, as the manga seems to indicate.
