Not enough superlatives to describe this song by Dolly. So much better than Emmie Lou Harris' rendition later, not that Harris is bad, but this is off the charts good. Hope "Let There Be Country," is still on WFUV in New York. That's the only place I ever heard this song until tonight on youtube.
@TomFromJersey i know. i just prefer Volbeat's version. they manage to give it a southern sound, while still retaining their own metal sound. it's just my personal taste.
Her voice is different but it is because at the age she performed this song ,her chest had not developed to her adult proportions that gave Dolly's voice the resonance we know and love.
The album featured one side with Dolly singing Kitty Wells' hits, and the other side featuring some other long-forgotten singer doing the hits of Patsy Cline.
