I remember going to London for the first time to visit Madame Tussaud Museum. I got so disappointed as no Kate Bush statue to be seen. How come? She's an England treasure. There are so many crap people already represented with a statue @ Madame Tussaud and even got their LADY and SIR title. It's quite amazing Kate hasn't yet been nominated a Lady. Wake up Queen of England!.
i totall agree with you smoott69. i was stationed in england in the early 70's when i learned of KB. i have loved her music and style every since. she was ahead of her time when it came to videos. michael is only 2nd to her in creativity. and her voice is so interesting, strange, clean, and operatic at the same time. she will always be awesome. i wish she created an american hit to show the pop stars what entertainment and visual art is really about.
i just listend to wuthering heights and then this, it really shows how her voice has grown, like theres such a huge difference. i always wondered how wuthering heights sounded if she sang like this. i love her 70's and 80's stuff thoug, who couldnt? makes me sad being a 16yrold american knowing that there will never be anyone as genious as she. i suppose its up to me to get into the music industry and remind them what music used to be. i hate what it has turned into.
@vineviz Actually, I'd forgotten that this "new vocals" version also appeared on "The Whole Story" greatest hits album. That would be easier to find, if you wanted to hear it.
@TheStickynoodle Then, may your dreams hold firm and true in the stormy seas of media banality. May you never grow old and jaded through disillusionment and disappointment. May your aim be true and may you find many a like mind to strenghthen your voice. In other words, best wishes, good luck. : )
@sharmilka I consider both Lady GaGa and Kate Bush as amazing artists for their contexts, but this song (and Album aswell) is amazing. If Only so many other artists could achieve what she did.
I love both Kate and Tori. They are each their own obviously, but they each are so far outside the box when it comes to tying them down to a genre, which is what I love about them,
I was at this video shoot too, as I was in the fan club! Bumped into Kate before the end of the shoot, and she had a head-ache, so maybe that lead to the throwing up?! Also met the wonderful Stewart Avon Arnold (one of Kates dancers). Busy but fun day at Elstree studios.
I remember that who-ever was holding the giraffes couldn't keep them straight (in the direction they were supposed to be) so they kept doing re-takes.
I am an American Indian and I really do enjoy her music! Kate is really a true artist and STILL one great looking woman! I am waiting for her new album next month! For me it was first seeing her "Love and Anger" video and I was hooked since! My favorites so far is a three way tie between, "Love and Anger", The Man With The Child In His Eyss", and "The Big Sky"!
Whats amazing to me is how much I listened to her, I never saw a single video or performance over all those years. Was it my fault? Was this stuff available easy? I have all the vinyl. But man, these videos are *nooothing* like what I had going around inside my head.
I was a 14 y/o metal head long hair punk who became an instant KB junkie around 82. I spent the next several years feeling like a rejected orphan of hers. No one I knew listened to her. She never toured the states (that I was aware of at the time). Like so many things in life, around the 90s, I stopped. Sad. Well, the future is here. I was amazed to find her so prevalent again. Let them have their mainstream. We have her.
@MobileSpies Great post and the same with me. I have always been a bit diverse in my musical tastes, but I too was a metalhead back in the 80's who also loved listening to Kate Bush. I'd be listening to Wendy O. Williams and then put on some Kate Bush if the mood suited me, lol. People thought I was crazy but it seems I wasn't alone, great to hear another out there who appreciated art. Another of my faves was Laurie Anderson. I'd listen to her alongside Doro, Kiss, GnR, Judas Priest, etc.
Maybe they already have and I am not aware but how cool would a Tori Amos/ Kate Bush piece of work be? Have loved Kate Bush for 25 years and always will.
Big Sound - Big Fun! OK, it's cheesy & campy, but I wish I had been invited. So much of Kate's material is bittersweet & poignant, elegant & somewhat sophisticated. She pulls, prods & pokes multidirectionally. I love her for that. Here, it's boom boom cha cha infectious foot tapping booty grooving party time. Hell yeah!
@hharlequina You realize this album came out in 1985... One would think that Gaga sounds like Kate. ...strike that .. Gaga wishes she sounded like Kate.

I am filming a bush gaga rant video now. check out my channel in about an hour. if your truly a bush fan you will love it. (warning there will be and i promise will be bad words.)
@Smoott69 It's really silly, cause that Gaga (calling her 'lady' makes me laugh) is the current, mainstream icon of pop, so everyone who gets close to a microphone is imediately compared to her.
And Kate- can we really COMPARE her to anyone? There was no katebush before her and still I can't see anyone like her now, but I wish there was another KB... Gaga and popstars is all fun-colourful but disposable. Great, but Kate is like art, her songs are poetry and her videos are drama-plays.
@Sharmilka I am so sick of reading this fucking Gaga-name everywhere. If she were such a giant artist why is it necessary to mention her on every other artist's video? Kate Bush, Queen, David Bowie just to mention a few artists of the past were HUGELY talented artists and musicians. Gaga is just a boring little attention whore who is just copying everything which was invented by those artists long time before. Her fans can write their stupid comments on HER music clips.
@goodtimetone I LOVE the way she is dancing in this, it is SO cute. She's so fun, it's hard to imagine she was sick for this. Or maybe it was the lights and the foil jumpsuit, etc. Thanks for sharing your experience.

She is one of Britain's finest imports to the U.S.! Masterful singer and writer. With the rebirth of the 80's here in the U.S. I expect her music to find its way back into the hearts of my countrymen. She is with question one of the best female singers in the world!
Kate has been my all time favorite female artist ever since I first saw Wuthering Heights video as an18y/o . An amazing, beautiful and talented individual. I have all her albums, my only regret so far I have never seen her in concert......I really hope I get the chance one day...........
This is a brilliant song because it taps into and celebrates the British obsession with the weather, which is a bit of a national past time. Listen to the extended mix of this song which is amazing!
That's Superman at 2.44! That just goes to show how confidently brilliant Kate Bush is. She allowed Superman and dancers (Army Dreamers?) to pull off the most funky moves in such a fun track on a masterpiece of an album that conveys many different moods. Oh yes and there are giraffes in the background in last 30 seconds- of course there are. It's Kate Bush. What an amazing song/video/album/career. Absolute genius.
I love Kate Bush. But she is quite quite mad...!

Kate has been my all time favorite female artist ever since I first saw Wuthering Heights video as an18y/o . An amazing, beautiful and talented individual. I have all her albums, my only regret so far I have never seen her in concert......I really hope I get the chance one day...........

Bush's vocals contains elements of British, Anglo-Irish and most prominently (southern) English accents

This stuff was way ahead of its time.
And, even nearly 25 years later, it still is. No one has ever come close.
Worship her!
