I am a HUGE, HUGE fan of Mark Knopfler, but what has happened to his technical finesse. Marks playing, for about the last 8 to 10 years, seems sub-par. He was a huge influence on me and my very small musical contribution to the world and it's sad to hear is older compositions played with out the passion that used to drive him. he doesn't seem to play with any conviction, he just seems to only go through the motions . I love all his music, his talent as a composer is beyond question.
