  • im 17 going on 18, and all but the family part, This song describes me perfectly. i've been searching for a job for a while now, but it seems that no-one can afford to hire me, and my social security checks wont last much longer.

  • @jhowe67 I feel you man, I'm the same age, IM lucky to have a job and my dad just recently passed away, on the 18th.. so i feel ya buddy.

  • I am near twenty six years old, a carpentor, mechanic, welder, what ever puts the food in my childrens and wifes stomach and shoes on thier feet. I work two full time construction jobs and make about 500 a week. Im trying as hard as I can in life, seams that tight ends never stop. This song describes so many people. Im trying so hard, rough times but there people who need help more than I do. Stand up U.S. and help the ones who need the help. Keep work here in the U.S

  • this song discribes so many people who are willing to work their ass off and still barely get by.. yet there are people out there who dont want to do anything, but sit around and do drugs and collect welfare.. we need to worry about the people out there who are willing, and who want to support their families. anyone who doesnt want to help themselves shouldnt be able to get help.

  • Saw his concert in Jackpot Nv. 7/24, He gave 1000%

  • :') Thanks, Ronnie.

  • song is amazing! Nice work, this right here will hit home to millions of people. Sometimes you gotta sit back and thank God that ya have a job and not having to deal with this issue...

  • incredible song...lots of meaning to me and my lil sis!!!!

  • The 4 people that disliked this are not normal people.

  • @LilithNick10 I agree 100%

  • Great song

  • My family has been going through a rough time these past five years and recently its gotten worse. Our house was foreclosed on. My mom just pawned all her jewlery including her wedding ring just to pay a few bills and get the light turned back on. We have no food at the house and for my little sisters birthday all we could afford to get her was a couple of balloons. I was washing the dishes this morning when I heard this song come on the radio. I started crying and just had to listen to it again

  • The 4 people that disliked this will be on the welfare system until the day they drop dead. Like if you agree.

  • who cares who rote it, its a good song period....

  • This is not a song about Ronnie Dunns life it is about Good year closing in Union City Tennessee and hundreds of men and women going without jobs. Ronnie Dunn wrote it as a dedication.

  • @lacedodd Really? I found it more about the service men and women who go jobless after they're done with the military.

  • this song hits you straight in the mouth. Semper Fi to all. stay strong America

  • 4 people think our economy is doing fine.

  • i cant stop listening to this song. basic training next summer with the US army helps me relate to as i sit here filling out job apps.

  • my wife used to work at the factory in this song. Goodyear in union city,tn.

  • Awesome...

  • The new national anthem.

  • I'm sorry YouTube, but can you fix the play button. I must have broke it from playing it nonstop.

  • LOL 4 people don't have a job and are lazy worthless pieces of shit :)

  • How can there be dislikes for this song?! Even if you don't like country music, THIS is the story of just about every American in this country! Aren't we all in this boat??

  • I heard the last half of this on the radio and had to find it to listen to the whole song, took a while, so thanks for uploading it. :D Love this song.

  • the four that dislike this video and song, u dont have to tell me what kind of person u are. we all know, and probably have a strong idea what u stand for. thumbs down to those four!!!

  • I heard him in an interview not too long ago talking about this song, and how when he presented it to the record company, they told him that by the time that it hit the radios, his then-lyrics "two dollars and change" would be long gone, the recession would be over and everything would be back to normal. Man, were they wrong

  • NOW WHY NIGGAS CANT MAKE SHIT LIKE THIS ABOUT SOME REAL REAL SHIT...

?? HE SNAPPED...I LIKES... I HAVE TO LISTEN TO COUNTRY MUSIC ALL DAY AT WORK SOME TIMES AND IT KILLS ME, BUT THIS SONG DEF CAUGHT MY ATTENTION 100 THUMBS ABOUT TO THIS GUY!!

  • This song describes us right now:( dad just lost his job at the Union City Goodyear plant.....which is what the actually video is about. Glad we have people feeling for the many who lost their jobs like us:[

  • One of the most relevant songs I've heard in a while, such moving lyrics and music. Postively brilliant piece of music. Thank you Ronnie Dunn!

  • Too many people in power and not enough brains between them, that's the problem.

  • this makes me real sad its just like my fuckin life jus like it

  • Ronnie Dunn has the best voice I have ever heard.

  • Songs amazing.

  • I hope that one day this economy will be okay but I know that this economy has made my family stronger than ever

  • this song is legit, makes me appreciate i got a good paying job for my age and changes the way you see work

  • Like this if this song made you tear up.

  • Whoever disliked this must be people in other countries who don't know how bad it is here.

Although we should never forget that no matter what it's like, it could always, ALWAYS get worse. So every once in a while, take a break to thank God for all the good things in your life, even if it's just the breaths you are still able to take.

  • @MNTwinsGirl12 I'm sorry, I served in the army, and have two iraq tours, and an afghanistan tour, and it amazes me how you think it is bad here, they don't have anything, we have it great here, some of us may be unemployed and homeless, but this is the United States of America, the greatest country on Earth.

  • @1500poundclub I can't imagine how bad it can be in other countries, and I did not intend to belittle that. I watch the news, I know it can be worse. I also know that our country is quickly going downhill. Soon, our country will not be the greatest country on Earth. But anyway, my original message is still the main thought I'd like to pass along: No matter how bad things are (wherever you are!), things can always get worse. Be thankful that they aren't.

I apologize if I offended you.

  • @1500poundclub Thanks for your service in the Army, I know its just words but I really am thankful.

  • This song speaks for the true American.. not country club johnson but for us who know what it is to work for what u need... not what you want... with all thats going on with our country right now sometimes you just need to slow down and really think and be happy for whatever it is you have.....

  • This hits home for a lot of us. Thumbs up if it hits home for you.

  • who ever dislikes this song must be on welfare and never worked and has had everything handed to them from the tax payers. free free FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! go get a job. micky 'd s is hiring right now. earn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dadychick81 our "micky d's" is closed for renovations:(

  • @1500poundclub who gives a fuck this is a great song u dislike it i dislike u

  • @bigdog9ize @1500poundclub had a point. And if he/she truly is a member of the US Army, I respect him/her. If you appreciate our freedom, I suggest that you support our troops as well.

And I agree, this really is a great song.

  • Was drvin in the truck on the way home from takin my man back ta his AT fer the Army an I was amazed w this song. Def. hits home w a lotta ppl. GREAT SONG!!! <3 it!!

  • Awwwww Ronnie Is Awesome!

  • 1 DISLIKE.... Thats one person that doesnt know how tough things are sometimes.

  • @azorinifp Nah...thats just the taliban

  • Very hard to listen to. This is the song for a lot of people right now, myself included, that are on tough times. I've been out of work since December, and it's looking grim. Here's to all of those in the same boat that we can get back to work soon for those depending on us.

  • @asheltonphoto Amen to that

  • 1 person is obviously not Livin'.

  • Heard this tonight for the first time on the way home in the truck... POWERFUL.

  • I have loved this song from the very first time i ever heard, it reminds me of my dad...i almost cried when i heard it! :)

  • It's songs like this that make people take pride in OUR country!

  • know what im even talking about, I do however. Its called we need to stand up for ourselves im sick of seeing our country being controlled by government officials who argue about not whats right for America but what to cut payment for. America's hurting Emergency responders, Education, Health Care, Everything that was created to help U.S Citizens in need is being drained of money by who? Mayors, City council members, School Superintendent, ect...Repost this to everything lets take back the U.S

  • Things wont change not unless "we the people" take back control of our country. The time has come the the average citizen end the corruption. Just recently the government we elected almost cut payment to our troops over seas. That same elected government is cuting payment to our sick, our old,our mentally handicaped, but did you once see a Republican Or Democrat offer to take a pay cut themselves. This next election i will be able to vote, but at age 17 many of you will think im just a kid i dont

  • fuck this is a good song ! its on the radio like 5 times a day at work, its great !!

  • I love this song! How can people not like it? When I first listened to this song I feel in LOVE with this!! I went home and I looked it up and I couldn't stop listening to it!!! I <3 IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Exactly no dis-likes.

You just can't not like this song

  • one of the best songs i have heard, so true.. hits home to so many! if your working these days your very blessed...

  • This song is the most relevant piece of writing that I've seen in a long, long time! I know there's still a few months to go in 2011, but if this doesn't win song of the year, people aren't listening to the lyrics!

  • The best song out, hands down!!

  • this country being steady??? HA! i'm sorry but America is in the dumps and it doesn't look like its gunna get better just worse.

  • @2USMCBoy it has to get worse before it can get better.

  • @InDusTrUcTuBle i realize that but i mean kids like me now they have to grow up in this stuff you know my family wasn't a rich family but we weren't poor always had food on the table but i mean its hard

  • this song is about the REAL AMERICAN!! the back bone of america is THE WORKIN CLASS i work 2 jobs 1 to buy gas to get to the other....... well done Ronnie & GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!!!!

  • A big problem with the cost of living and the loss of jobs is the loss of domestic spending, we NEED those jobs to come back to the US or the only people with enough to live on will be the CEO's of those companies. =(

  • @metallicafan53 Did you know often (not all and not defending those who don't work) Military families qualify for food stamps? Folks who work but took pay cuts just to keep their jobs also qualify for assistance? Maybe you should look into something before taking a broad stance on a belief if you don't have all the facts. I also know at LEAST 10 senior citizens who receive social security AND have a job..and I don't know THAT many old folks. Just sayin (and no, I am not on assistance)

  • @angelique715 Sorry bout my missing wording. The point i was trying to make is that there is A LOT od people in America who are recieving assistance (food stamps, social security, etc.) that do not even need it, or they are simply just too lazy to work. I live in eastern KY and if you knew exactly how lazy and pathetic some of the people are around here, you would understand my anger. Assistance programs were created for people that could no longer work or were down on their luck.

  • @metallicafan53 my dad's 55, he got laid off in 2008 when his job moved over seas, and he never moved outta town for jobs because he didn't wanna disrupt mine and my younger brothers lives like that, he got a temp job but they didn't wanna hire him, even tho hes a college grad, and real smart. Problem is hes gettin old and over weight and because of how much he was paid, no one wants to hire him anymore, it broke his heart to have to ask the state for help, he prefers to be workin for this money

  • @Hellkiller74 It's hard for people to look at the whole picture. I was okay, but the cost of living is going up, and we were refused a raise...even though we were already below poverty. I am an officer...our city hall secretary takes home after taxes and insurance, 1k a week, and somehow convinced the mayor we should not make more than 20k a year. Imagine that. Looking for new job, and yes, must take assistance till I get it. Tell your dad hang in there, he is not alone.

  • @angelique715 Everyday i see healthy men and women using their food stamp cards and drawing their checks because they are simply to lazy to work. All they are worried about is their next pill to snort or next cigarette to smoke. I know guys that have recieved their Social Security check at 28 and have barely work a day in their life. People wonder why the US is in so much debt??? Well when you give $500 dollars to 30% of america every month for their laziness it adds up real quick.

  • @metallicafan53 What about the folks who worked hard all their lives and depend on Social Security to get by from month to month? Do they make you sick too, you insensitive a-hole?

  • @MrJdfromtn I'll remove the comment, and no i am no insensitive ASSHOLE! The point of my comment was that there are A LOT of people in the US that chose to make Social Security and food stamps their life. These people refuse to work and are content letting the government keep them up all their lives. Its funny people cant understand why the US is in such debt, Well when you "Assist" almost 40% of the country then you will egt in debt. Plus half of the people are illegal immagrants gettin stamps!

  • @MrJdfromtn Police, school teachers, and any other tax funded job salaries are paid by tax payers money, right? Well ever wonder why these people "police and teachers) are so under paid? Because all of our tax money, that hard working Americans pay into, goes to so called "assistance". Well that fine and well, but when im paying for someone's food and other stuff because they are simply to lazy to work....well it kinda makes me angry! After all you probably are part of the lazy group!

  • @metallicafan53 My father taught me to never argue with an idiot. So, bye-bye!

  • @metallicafan53 You couldn't have said it any better.

  • Brings me to tears every time I hear it.

  • I was driving in my truck caught the 2nd half the song soon as i got home looked it up. It hits home for alot of people!

  • I heard this on my way home from work and was amazed that someone finally made a song about this ronnie dunn is going to be a country legend for this... rename the song the average american in 2011

    Amazing song

  • @blessedubitch sang it good but his gardener wrote the song

  • @misanthroposy no he didn't. dunn wasn't rich his whole life.

  • @juicy1366 Said so on CMT and that ronni wasn't taking the credit,

  • @misanthroposy I just read an article saying he wrote it three years ago and even had to change the lyrics to 3 dollar and change at the pump because it used to be 2 dollars and change

  • @misanthroposy

Actually it was mainly written by Lou Toomey, his lead guitarist.

  • @wjelliott598 no it was written by Ronnie and Phillip Coleman

  • @misanthroposy

his garderner didnt write it. one of his his friends did. saw it on the news.

  • @blessedubitch he was already a country legend

  • @blessedubitch

You are right about the song, but Ronnie is already a country legend!! Just from his run with Brooks & Dunn

  • @wjelliott598 Damn right he is

  • @blessedubitch Isnt Ronnie Dunn already going to be a legend from all his duets?

  • @blessedubitch ronnie dunn is already a country legend....

  • great song and great video! thanks for sharing/posting!

  • <3 love it.

  • Amazing song. Thats 107.1 for playing it so I could look it up when I got home from work :)
