ive been playing socom since part 2, i dont know wth yall talkin about but i just grabed this game tonight and after 20mins of playing it im hooked, great TACTIC GAME!! u people must be playing your video games with a standard tv or something cause it looks amazing.
Well Ive never played SOCOM, and this was gonna be my first Socom purchase since I just got a PS3, but people keep saying this one sucks.. It doesnt look so bad from the video here. I guess Ill have to rent it or something.

This game is awesome. But it isn't like the classic SOCOM. The only way I can make it like classic Socom is to change the control sceme to classic that will seriously change evrything

Socom 4 is pretty fun. But, its nothing like the classic Socom. Classic socom was about tactical team play where you select your team's weapons and complicated team commands (stealth to zulu/breach, etc) like in reality. Now, I can only send my team as far as I can "point" and if I want to stealth attack, its up to myself bc my team doesn't understand the motto "one shot, one kill." Socom was legendary and unique; now it just blends in more with the crowd with little uniqueness. I blame Sony...
I'm just looking for a fun to play 3rd person shooter on the ps3 and I've heard mixed reviews about this game. I haven't played any of the other SOCOM games so I don't really care if this isn't exactly like the other games in the series. I just want to know if someone who likes games like GRAW2, Gears of War, and other 3rd person shooters will like this game.

@009jorge1 tactical has nothing to do with realistic. final fantasy is not at all realistic but it takes tactics. wow allthough gay takes tactics and is far from realistic, many games are tactical but the farthest thing from tactics. you cant honestly say that cod has no tactics. try thiso a cod lobby and just run straight through the middle of the map with marathon and use a sniper rifle or 3 burst. then go across the flanks and take cover when neccecary and think your moves over.

Somehow the SOCOM series has gotten worse and worse with each new game. And with SOCOM 4, I think it's finally hit rock bottom. Somehow Zipper lost sight of EVERYTHING that made the series unique. Hopefully they'll just drop it now, and salvage what's left of their reputation. Also, this review sucks. It praises the game for being as generic as possible.

I bought confrontation and have never looked back Some 4 is plop and a terrible attempt to achive a socom status. Me as many other gamers across the world stay on confrontation as it is a much more fun game to play even tho we deal with cheaters every day we carry on playing confrontation because it is much better than socom 4 ' Zippers attempt to create a socom game has failed in my books

the friendly AI are useless without instructions... the cover system and aiming in it is just annoying. i've shot at things i never had my crosshair on, it was like the gun was set to fire 45 degrees away from the crosshair at times.
@AudioCorps If you can find a better cover system in any game, pls tell me. But otherwise thi game has a great cover system. Plus its a 3rd person shooter, you have to mak sure your gun is around the wall before you shoot...this isn't COD.

I havent played this game yet but imo...socom 2 is the best online game of all times because of these reasons.
1. 16 member Clans made it very unique and you basically had to tryout for the best clans which was the best part imo
2. NO RESPAWN!! best of 7 rounds win.
3. Choose your team in lobby(not random teams)
4.Hold button to talk ( one at a time)...none of that "you all speak at once bullshi#"
5. Gameplay and movement was the most realistic of any game today.

I bought confrontation and have never looked back Some 4 is plop and a terrible attempt to achive a socom status. Me as many other gamers across the world stay on confrontation as it is a much more fun game to play even tho we deal with cheaters every day we carry on playing confrontation because it is much better than socom 4 ' Zippers attempt to create a socom game has failed in my books

@SERGIO8213 NO The cover system completely slows down gameplay and the multiplayer is full of campers. It make for a slow and boring game. Buy it used or rent it first.

the friendly AI are useless without instructions... the cover system and aiming in it is just annoying. i've shot at things i never had my crosshair on, it was like the gun was set to fire 45 degrees away from the crosshair at times.

@AudioCorps If you can find a better cover system in any game, pls tell me. But otherwise thi game has a great cover system. Plus its a 3rd person shooter, you have to mak sure your gun is around the wall before you shoot...this isn't COD.

Yes they released an online game before they went live lol and i was like a fuckin kid on christmas when the servers came up! Ya im fuckin hardcore socom junkie and im happy to see this one kicks ass!!! The first one since 2 imo.though i did enjoy combined assaults co-op

SOCOM on the ps2: stealth..team oriented..penalized for running nd gunning..tactical
SOCOM on he ps3: gears of war..completely changed the game up..sold themselves out to appeal to more gamers

That it. I'm never watching an IGN review again. I've compared about 10 Gamespot and IGN reviews of the same game, and theres just no contest. Gamespot analyzes the game like experts, IGN analyzes the game like 13 year old cod fans.

I'm a socom fan at heart. I really want to hop on that Co op online but I don't have 4 friends on psn lol. Everyone has 360. Still. I think I'm gonna get this game. Looks fun as hell. Its kinda not like the old ps2 socom games but hey maybe change is good
