Mabey they could do an animated movie in style like Batman under the red hood and just have Weller voice act that he does not have to wear the suit but still see him as Robocop again.
Why should there be a remake of this great movie, it is perfect as it is. Remakes (not 'reboots' like batman) always suck balls, I cannot name one good remake to be honest, maybe you can help me with that. I can't imagine some one else playing Alex Murphy than Peter Weller.
@kraeckelium Like I said a decent sequel (not reboot) an I agree Welelr should still be robocop.
The sequel could be the shutdown of Robocop or something like that where he is shutted down or something like that, putting an end to the movie. (Sad Sequel I know but check on Weller age...)
Used to watch the 80's cartoon of this, and didn't actually get a chance to see the films till I was around 19. I just remember how friggin violent the first one was. Holy hell (and it was the unrated version too no less). I liked parts of the second one even though it felt like a missed oppportunity in storytelling. The third one was a giant waste of time. The minute he was flying around with a rocket pack I knew the franchise was dead at that point. The later TV series didn't help either
That's ok. I remember some boys in my class watched it when they were about 9/10/11 years old.
I used to borrow it from a pal when I was in my late teens. I'll never forget it when my local station ITV showed the full theatrical version in '99. I recorded it.
I watched it when I was 14 (little late, I know), but my cousins were slightly younger when they watched it with me (10 and 12). My brother told me to ffwd the bit where Murphy gets killed, as my sister and cousin sister would have complained if they saw that scene themselves.
I've got the Region 1 special edition. The picture is lighter, but clearer than R2 and you have interviews with the actors who played the villains. It's great stuff.
As RoboCop was made in 1986, it was set in either 1990 or 1991. That's what I've heard. If that's so, then looks like the filmmakers were wrong about how things would turn out in that particular era (lol).
But now, the film feels a lot more relevant than ever. Multinationals, big business, corruption, crimewaves, dwindling law enforcement, it's all here.
haha that would be bout right, lol saw the film years and years ago, wen i was bout 5 maybe 6 haha i know bit of a young age 2 watch stuff like that but oh well must watch it again sumtime
You're right. RoboCop was outlandish at the time, but corporate America wasn't as bad as it is today. But everything the film covered has come to pass.
i got the full uncut (director's cut) death of murhy... please subsribe me or visit my channel.. i am new here but it comes more videos.... and any videos you dint ever see it...

Why not? Arnie did it with the terminator ^^
(OK, the machine needed some extra oil, but it worked :P)

@devilspidey Weller would never do it, he was quoted to replying "hell no" to Robocop III due to the suit.

Don't consider 14 to be late- I first saw the entire trilogy when I was 17.

Making it well ahead of its time. It gave us a world that was full of chaos and greed. And it took one man/machine to put the order right. 8)

God damn Robocop rules. Here's hoping the Darren Aronofsky one in 2010 is half as cool as the originals.
