Black people who lived in the hood and made it out, know whats up. There are decent people just trying to make it, but honestly there is more disfunction than anything else. Everybody knows this...we need to get out of denial and get to work. Denial has us frozen. Its nothing to be ashamed of, we have to change it.
Wow...I went looking for where I used to live when I was young to show my wife. And what do you know. you have my exact building in the video I remember the coca cola sign and that wall because we used to wait staring at that wall waiting on the "watermelon man" to come around the corner - watermelon man is just what we used to call him but he had just about anything you could think of on that truck. By the way I'm not a crack head nor is any of my family. We were just going through life.
Grady Homes was a nasty shit hole full of people that didn't even have jobs. They would squeeze by on government funds and cheapo rent at these places. I know lots of decent black people this has nothing to do with skin color. Grady Homes was torn down for a reason. Nothing but crackheads there. I walked through there plenty of times back in the day nothing ever happened to me just lots of bums with a sad story asking for change.
@northbound100 Used to live here and by the way I'm not a crackhead nor is any of my family. We were just going through tough times in life. I admit there was a lot of negative things there but to me all I remember is the good times I had with my family trying to make the best of what we had. Now my people are living in a 4 bed/2bath home on nearly 3 acres of land in a neighborhood that has a couple of million dollar homes. - SO KILL YOSELF WITH THE NEGATIVE STRING OF THOUGHT!!!
Wow to some of these comments. I am from ATL, but I never resided in Grady Homes......but for some of the ignorant comments.....how can someone judge or stereotype a specific type of people, when there are cleary no people even shown in the video. Hmmm.....is it hear-say, or do you know from experience? I doubt it.
@aRealJawjaPeach I get tired of the negative comments too....some times I wonder how they even come across my videos.. This is strictly for Atlanta folks.
I grew up in Grady Homes gradyated from Howard High In 1970. good time's and good peaple too. I then went to and graduate from Dekalb Teach. I have my own homw now and look back and say that I made it. anyone from Howard HIgh online?. contact me and lets get togeather and talk.
To Jdr770, Not all people that lived in this place were "RETARDS" & "CRACKHEADS". Who are you to criticize where people lived? It is not where you live stupid ass, but how you live. For some families, Grady Homes or any other housing project was all they could afford. You are an ignorant ass person to put people down & you don't even know the half of the story. I would have loved to see your pussy ass in "this shit hole". I can guarantee that your punk ass would never have made it out.
@terminuszone1 I apologize for using such harsh words, but this person really got under my skin. I am a product of Grady Homes (born and raised) & I am by far a retard or a crackhead. I have two HIGHLY INTELLIGENT sons who makes me proud just to be their mother. Not a day goes by that I regret living in Grady Homes. It made me the woman I am today. I am a HIGHLY educated black woman who made it out the hood, but I will never forget where I came from. Can Jdr770 say the same?
@trayonthomas Oh you're good. I don't like ignorant folks and I don't like racial slurs....there are so many negative comments on youtube and folks are always talking shit it gets annoying so usually I will just delete the comments. I've seen jdr770 leave bullshit on other threads too
