I was there and the catch by Leinart happened right in front of me. Great call by Norm Chow who was at the height of his powers back then. Too bad Pete forced him out after the 2004 season because he didn't like that Chow got so much credit (rightly so) for the success of the SC offense. SC probably wins 2-3 more NCs between 2005 and 2008 had Chow stayed on.Poor guy is now stuck with Slick Rick Neuheisel who like Carroll, likes to meddle with the playcalling.

I think there was more to it. I think Norm was mad that he couldn't get a head coaching job in college. If it was just a Pete thing I think he would have taken another college job but he ended up bolting to the NFL before returning to college and almost took the OC job at USC this year before that knucklehead Kiffin decided that he was going to call plays.

The Oakland Raiders did try him as a Tight End, but he has zero blocking skills and he drops a lot of passes. He is strong, but not strong enough to out-muscle linebackers and he is too overweight and slow to be a good receiving threat as a TE. He has no work ethic and showed up to his latest team's (Jaguars) training camp at a rumored 270 lbs. That is too big even for a TE most of the time. He became a worthless player because he got too big headed about himself.

I was talking about the WR, but I was wrong on the new team. It was the Titans, not the Jaguars. And he did show up to camp at about 270 lbs. and he is currently listed at 242. A 270 pound TE is huge and most TEs don't get that big, at least not receiving TEs. But he can't be a blocking TE, because he sucks at blocking. Even at 242, he is overweight for his body build and he doesn't run very well at that weight. He should be about 220 to be at his best.

Two words: Barry Sanders. Your lions messed it up long before Millen. Not only did you guys have the perfect season but managed to botch 3 picks at wide receiver until Calvin Johnson fell on your lap. I am going to watch and laugh because Calvin Johnson is going to play for a team who has been rebuilding since Barry Sanders left. And nothing is going to change. Hopefully after 2 seasons he's gone from Detroit and you guys continue to stink up the league, barring a miracle.

truly epic. USC 02-05=one of the very best dynasty's in college football history. 06-08 have been solid, but nothing memorable. 11 wins ever year still puts USC as the #1 team of the decade. But, '09 is the start of another amazing streak by USC, guaranteed! USC over florida is the january 2010 rose bowl.

Well Kiffin called some the plays but Sark is the one with the complex offensive system. He's the one who really did all the work with the quarterbacks and running backs. Kiffin was mainly a wide receiver and Tight end coach.

God isn't that the truth. Too bad Pete Carroll's massive ego couldn't allow for Chow to get credit for the offense and he ran him out of town. The he lets Kiffin and Sark, 2 inexperienced cordinators, run the offense along with Pete putting his own fingers into the mix. Now the offense looks like your typical boring predictable NFL offense. Thanks Pete for killing what could have been college football's greatest dynasty. Wake up and fire some of those yes men you have on staff now.
