  • they gotta smoooke that cigarette!

  • "Everybody wants to be a cat, cause a cats the only cat, who knows how to hack!"

  • Yea. That's coffee mama. Yea.

  • What year was this? 1971?

  • You can sneak a lot past the censors if you're clever. The line in this song where he's getting hot and heavy with his girl on Lover's Lane and she says, "I need a filter on that" -- meaning a condom.

  • I'm surprised they were able to get away with the little hand action at 1:23. Pretty risque for back then. Actually , pretty risque for prime time even now.

  • @karinablacktie HAHA! After I read your comment, I suddenly realized that the joke was a double entendre! Silly me!

  • @karinablacktie Not that risque. They used to squeeze all kinds of double entendres into their stuff. Lousy story since I can't remember the participants, but a comic, probably Milton Berle, and an actress, Marilyn, Diana Dors, Jane Mansfield? had this interchange: He: You want to play television? She: Sure, how do you play? He: I play with your knobs and you watch my antenna go up. This was an old joke in the 50's. No problem with censors since the shows were LIVE.

  • Let's see here, I think I'll make a comment, right after I have another cigarette!!.

  • Early Rap!

  • @stalzz Haha that's what I was thinking, too.

  • TWO amazing men!!!

  • 4:16-4:26 is the coolest

  • Today this would be rated R.

  • Wow! Hats off to Phil for doin' "Smoke Smoke Smoke" LIVE without missing a beat or lyric.

    Harris was the original rapper!

  • @Lampshade51 mannnn, you are so right on. he was the cat`s meow.....

  • Phil was my Godfather. What a great guy!

  • Good singer; and a GREAT PERFORMER!!!!

  • can someone please send me his greatest hits cd? I want his music, but I cant afford to buy at the moment, and I want them for my ipod :(

  • There are only two famous people I have always wanted to meet but never will be able to due to the fact that they passed away before I was born: John Wayne, and Phil Harris.

  • @na13b5spd , they appear together in the movie The High and the Mighty.

  • This guy was the "definition of "cool" ....nobody was ever better than Phil Harris! Only person who could even "remotely" come close in the "cool" division was Dean Martin.

  • @Kenny12554 I think that among the Cool cats Dean Martin and Phil Harris, we can add Cab Calloway

  • I'm 31 years old and I have a very special place in my heart for Mr. Phil Harris. I'm glad I found this video. He was truly a class act. --Johnny Cash, a legend as well:)

  • Come on now bushel britches.....

  • What year was this?

  • @kryptonianpowers This was a summer replacement show Johnny Cash had on ABC. This particular show aired on September 27, 1969.

  • NOICE thanks for the link MS FOXXXY

  • I wish people would still talk like that nowadays...

  • Phil Harris and Alice Faye had a radio program that was funny tunny funny. You can hear them at OTR. Truust me you will enjoy it. It was a take off from Jack Benny.

  • So that's the face of the voice. I always wondered what he looked like. It' s going to be fun finding out about him. Excellent guy. Ger

  • I love "The Darktown Poker Club" by Phil Harris-I first heard it on Radio 2's Alan Dell Big Band show here in the UK in the 1970s, and finally got a copy of it last year!

  • Phil Harris.

Exquisite talent and widely known in his time, even now.

I saw him hunting with Curt Gowdy and Bing Crosby on ABC's "The American Sportsman" and I never stopped to ponder how cool that was until now. Try getting a show devoted to hunting on Network TV today.

Though at the time I hadn't known Phil for his crooning, I knew him for being the substantial talent that propelled Baloo the Bear. My Mom told me so.

Raising a glass to Phil, Bing & Curt.

    Gentlemen all.

  • Phil Harris sounds like Bob Barker.

  • How about he sounds like John Wayne? I thought Baloo was voiced by JW when I was a kid.

  • Cigarettes? Nah, I'm going to stick to my pipe! LOL!

  • Baloooooooooooooo:X

  • LOL. Somehow I just can't imagine the Jungle Book going:

Mowgli: "Whatcha got there, Papa Bear?"

Baloo: "Take a drag of this, Man Cub."

  • ROFLMAO!

  • Phil was born just down the street from where i live!!

  • phucking awesome!

  • thanks phil...now I want a cigarette...lol brb hahah

  • "now when she say's good night, her hand shake isn't as firm." ha ha ha I love old country artists...they had a great sense of humor.

  • Phil Harris was one of the most multi-talented entertainers of the last century, but NEVER got the recognition he deserved.

  • VERY true!

  • So Great! A real Star.. Bigger than life, and always such class.

  • 2 big voices right there

  • Woah, Baloo can really bust rhymes.

  • I LOVE Phil!! So classy and funny.

  • whoa johnny cash is hot..
