I am learning this etude for school this year and I am using your example for ideas and to have a good performance to refer to when I get stuck on practicing.
I disagree totally. There's a lot, yes, but not too much. I've certainly learned from watching this and will change the way i play it accordingly. Great performance! Thanks.
@6sp: Don't play every note the same. The first and top note of the arpeggios are the most important. You're probably playing the repeated note too loud. If you aren't doing that, it will disappear when you get the tempo up.
Try to practice it in moderatto time and paying attention to the natural accents in every four-note figure, remember the first and third notes have a natural accent in that figure. Avoid the temptation of playing triplets at all cost. That's the only way to play it without the feeling of hitting the notes twice. Good luck!
why is it random or stupid? i wanted people who actually wanted to read the comments to see when a bad player plays this piece so why is it random or stupid? how is it any more dumb than the person who said it took me four months to learn. Or i quote "(My crappy piano doesnt help)" that's irrelevant also so why did you comment on my comment???
It's probably random and stupid to say "I'm 15" because you are bragging. It's like, "Ooh look at me. I can play this piece and I'm only 15 years old. Give me praise!!!" Having the ability to play the piano at a very young age is not really all that special anymore. It has lost its impact. The Internet has brought out many young people for the world to see, and now it is not all that exciting like it once was. Now, when people say, "I'm 15" we all say, "Who cares?"
how am i bragging by saying "i'm 15", i didn't say anything like "i'm great because i can play this song" i'm not even good and i can recognize that. Youtube has brought out many young prodigies, i'm not one of them. Theres a kid who plays this when he's 10. "i wanted people who actually wanted to read the comments to see when a bad player plays this piece" how is this bragging?
You don't have to say "I'm great" in order for people to think you are bragging. When someone says "I'm 15" many people feel that you want everyone to be impressed. Nobody cares about age anymore because it is so common to see kids playing the piano. A person's age is not relevant. Why mention it at all? Everyone starts out playing badly no matter how old someone is. Determination, talent, and practice are important, not necessarily age. I'm sure you are good, too. Hope to see you play.
well sorry for the argument i'll try to upload a video of me playing soon but youtube is actually giving me some uploading problems. Unfortunately my teacher informed me that i wasn't playing this etude, i am however playing the winter wind etude which is another good one. sorry for the argument.
Hey jyodh, you don't have to apologize! I'm just learning this too, and I'm 44. Pompasduris, I don't think many people would react the way you suggest. And if a 15 year old feels that it's great that he can achieve something that might be impressive, that sounds like something the professionals do, it's just because it IS great. What happened to encouraging young people? I don't know your age, but I'm sure you're old enough to know better...
Isayiwill, your comment is better directed at blackgamma12's comment when he said that jyodh's comment was random and stupid. My comment is well deserving if jyodh's comment was meant as bragging. As I have stated, an accomplishment is good no matter what the age of the person. Young people need encouragement but they also need to learn to be humble. A person should never brag. A person should always leave the bragging to his admirers. These are words by which to live.
You're perfecly right. I'm sorry if my comment was misdirected. I confess that I hadn't been following the whole topic. That aside, I think jyodh did a great job defending himself, making it clear beyond doubt that mentioning his own age was not for bragging purposes. But I also think that if someone his age happens to be over-proud of himself/herself, it's forgivable. We have all been teenagers. YT dwells many arrogant grown-up full time braggers. It's far more rewarding to attack them!
I just learned this song, and it is not the easiest sont to play. I just played it in a recital, and it took me 4 months. How long did it take you? I cant play it nearly that well. (My crappy piano doesnt help) great work =)

GREAT GREAT GREAT! I have heard many versions of this Etude (some professional) and yours definitely beats them! You play the melody beautifully!
When I played this, I put in a retard at the end of the C-G (Major 5th-2:10) I also added more dynamics-but your playing is truly a piece of work!
