Obviously, God was angry with somebody. Maybe He was pissed off at Rev. Riley, because eyewitnesses reported that a huge hand came out of the sky and pointed at the church steeple just prior to the lightning strike.

just a quiestion in the name of god, wouldn't it have been much more christian to have spent those millions helping the poor and the less fortunate, than appeasing those who could have easily worshiped at one of the many other chruches in the area? i find with the diminishing catholic numbers in the boston area, the money should have been spent in the name of christ, not in the name of real estate.
Perhaps they might have used it to support the other parishes. I understand their sentiment but I sometimes wonder if the consolidation could continue and have fewer, but stronger and more vibrant, parishes.

It was heartbreaking to see the church I grew up in burn down. Now it will be heartwarming to see it back again! God is good!
