@CONNOR9623 Good luck with your mods. You can view the entire build, as well as several others on RCGroupsDOTcom. Just search for "Building the Low-wing Super Cub".
thank you for sharing your supercub modification. i just did the same thing to my sclp..a few changes i made was to put carbon spars in the wings taking out some of the dihedral. havnt decided yet about landing gear ,waiting for the motor..i was tired of flying a brick, so i hope that these mods along with the 450 sport motor and 1800 mah lipo do the trick...
harder to control? are low wings usually harder ? i dont have money to join the AMA but i think i seen an expansive field of mown grass yesterday to fly in- ill look into it further ---sweet flight!
It is more difficult for two reasons: 1. The original configuration had the wing too far forward making it 'tail heavy'. It needs to be neutral or slightly 'nose heavy'.
2. The cg shifted from below the wing to above the wing. Weight sitting above the balance point is harder to control than when it is hanging from the lift point. Just balance a high wing on our finger tips, then balance a low-wing on them. You'll see the difference immediately.
The video is a non-professional production. Its intent is to demonstrate a MAJOR modification of a high-wing trainer to a low-wing. It flies well in spite of the increased difficulty.
Does it glide?

@frantic121
Thanks for posting. I'm in the process of rebuilding mine, using CF rod in the wing, installing a new battery box and gear mount.
There is a build thread on RCPGROUPS if you'd like to post your mods. Just search for: Low-wing Super Cub.
