Another example is Canada, where stats say that crime is way higher since guns were banned, just like Australia. And if you compare in USA cities like D.C. where guns can't be carried at all and crime is the highest in nation with cities like Houston, where just a normal permit is required you will see that you are wrong. The ammo cannot be carried easily by the average home intruder, nor can the tube itself be carried around town without attracting the attention of local law enforcement. The range is also a problem, because the operator of the RPG will need to be a safe distance from where the grenade impacts. Interesting idea, but the reality is its not going to happen.

Thanks Bro, I thought about a 12 gauge, but I am also considering the Glock 27, so I can use it once I get my CCW. What I really want is a Short Barrel Shotgun but they're illegal unless you jump through a ton of government hoops. Nothing beats a short barrel shotgun for home defense. An AR-15 is a bad choice, you'd kill the bad guy and the bullet would go through him and into your neighbor's home.
