they are probably practicing robotic control of centre of gravity. Remember the robot that fell down as it climbed the stairs? That robot did not control it's centre of gravity very well. I'm guessing that they plan on making a human-sized robot soon, and once they do that, they can start making real androids, not those slow-moving ones.
