It's sad watching this because you can really see how the band wasn't into it anymore - especially Joe and Mick. They'd just fired Topper for his heroin addiction and were about to break up the band when Rock the Casbah went to number one, forcing them to re-hire Terry Chimes to play drums and go back on the road. By the end of this year (82) Joe and Mick were barely talking to each other.
No in the 1981 they said they have a responsibility to the fans concerning their music and making sure those who wanted to see them got to, they didn't mean they wanted to be anyone's parent or babysitter
He and Joe were friends with Pete Townshend. Townshend even got on stage with The Clash in early 1980. I am sure Mick probably wasn't that into The Who's records of 1981-82. Then again, even The Who weren't that into Face Dances and certainly It's Hard.
I think the helicopters are actually cable cars, but i thought the same initially. Joe's kinda got an Ian Dury haircut goin on there, shame they caught him on an off day. By '82 things were pretty volatile between these two, so i'm surprised to see them together. Nice all the same though.
@AikeaCine i was told by some who interwieved gallagher that jones and strum were travellin' with their own means of transporation...separate...but that could only be 1980/81 for big US tours. They weren't talking to each others much :"lost communication/we fell to egos"...THATS that...you don;t rewrite history. I THINK both felt terrible about it retrospectivily but Jones was on the ejectable seat.
Joe sounds like something bad happened... or something like that. Like he just got horrible news or what not. And I don't think I've ever seen Mick talk so much...
Mick`s on speed and Joe`s on heroin. That`s why Joe`s wearing the sunglasses, so you don`t see his eyes.

Is Joe just tired and bored? Was he a drug user as well? Who knows his bio better than me?
perkinso1 1 year ago
@perkinso1 he was a heavy drug user but relied he would die from it so he just tried to control it.

Haha Mick Jones is brilliant...
I still find him oddly sexy and charming as anything.
Poor Joe, he's not having fun is he?

1981 they say they have a responsibility to the fans and they have to stick to it basically. here they say they have a responsibilty to themselves,
big change in 1 year
punkinchavland 4 years ago 2
Could they possibly have a responsibility to both themselves and the fans?

Just miserably depressed about the state of the band. At the height of their success they were internally falling apart.

Weird. Poor Joe seems to be totally depressed, or at least having an awful day. And why are there like five helicoptors in the backround?

Uh, depressed? Flat-out wasted seems more like it.

Mick got the boot or left in 1983 after the US Fest. Whatever is the truth you hear.
