All of Paul's, Peter's, etc. letters were copied by scribes and sent to other churches all over Asia Minor. The only Gospels accepted by the early church as authentic were either written by eyewitnesses or by later converts who interviewed eyewitnesses. As a BOOK, it was "put together" centuries later. Doesn't change the authenticity. Bye.

The reason why those words are missing is because The Codex Sinaiticus and most of the oldest manuscripts of the Bible don't have those words. The Trinity in 1 John is not found in any Manuscript before the 16th Century. Part of John 8 is not found in any Manuscript before the 9th Century.
If you really want to "preserve" the Word of God, then you should present it in its Original form.
What the King James Bible is missing is "English". There has been many scrolls in the original language found and there are variants. Remember there was no printers in those days, new copies were made by one person reading the "text" while "scribes" wrote what was read.
Biblical translators do their best to get at what the original "text" probably said based on the rules of that language (Konia Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic ).
Where ever there is a possible variant there is a footnote.
One thing about the modern versions that disturbed me are all the textual variants mentioned in the margins. If we can't decide which phrase, word, or verse belongs in the text then the Bible is in a state of being "unsettled". When you read the KJV, you don't get that impression. God is not the author of confusion. The KJV, in my opinion, is the time tested, fullest reading, & best translation we have in English.
@berean72 I think it is too bold of a claim to say that the KJV translators had no difficulty determining the translation of the manuscripts they had at the time. They may not include them in the text itself but that doesn't mean they were 100% positive. KJV were translators just like the modern ones. Until God himself shows me that KJV is the ONLY translation worthy of study, I'll stick with translations that are more current and accurate. Men are men, whether 1611 or 2010.

If you are intending to determine the authenticity of a book like the Bible, you do not compare one translation to another translation. You need to go back to the original source material. Mr. Daniels does not do that, at least not in the video. Also, he would need to establish who wrote the original source, when, where, and under what circumstances.

A couple of key problems with this
1. On a basic level there's no understanding shown here of the real textual issues involved with the original languages.
2. more importantly, Daniels perceives a tension that is built on an over-simplistic view of the text. When you focus on the tiny details it allows you to side step actually following Jesus. 5 bucks says Daniels isn't a pacifist. Matt 5:44

The NKJV is the most reliable version I have found. My church uses KJV and I constantly check my NKJV with what they are reading and it is always accurate and much clearer.
I have studied many of the critiques of the NKJV and found it reliable. It corrects many of the errors found in the KJV and is a word for word translation not like many versions today which are twisted according to men's doctrine.

The KJV is based on the received text which is based on the majority of all Bible supporting Greek manuscripts {95%} of about 5,200 pieces and the mass-erotic Hebrew text which is different than the new bibles which are based on the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus and Alexandrenus which are totally tampered with and messed with and changed and corrected many times. Actually, the argument is tantamount to hair-splitting. Anyone with the reasoning capacity of a Nile River gnat understands that He said His time had not yet come. So when He appears in Jerusalem...guess what? It's time to be there. I recommend a good interlinear Bible to read alongside ANY translation. KJV or otherwise.
I use to believe in the KJV only version. But the word of God has no boundaries. There are errors in the KJV. I personally like using the ESV, but I study with multiple versions, and commentaries. If you really want a more accurate Bible then use the Greek and Hebrew.

My ESV is worshiping an unreliable manuscript? The ESV, KJV, ASV, NIV, etc. are all translations. They are translations! Why the KJV and not the Geneva or Tynsdale versions? Those are older english versions.

Yeah, the word is missing, but I think context makes sense of what is being said. This entire video is based on the premise these translations don't represent the word of God, but context would have clarified meaning as it usually does.

Daniel is absolutely mistaken, or perhaps lying. John 7:8 in the NIV, ESV, NLT, NASB, CEV, NKJV, and TNIV all contain the word "yet." The Message paraphrase does not contain the word "yet," but it does contain the same idea. Which modern translations is he talking about?
Some new translation put it in then turn around and basically say it doesn't belong there with a footnote: "John 7:8 Some early manuscripts do not have yet."
This changes constantly with each new revision, sometimes they add the word and put in the disclaimer the next time they might omit it and say nothing,so it depends when you're bible was published
ESV says, "You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come."
NLT says, "You go on. Im not going[a] to this festival, because my time has not yet come.
CEV... "Go on to the festival. My time hasn't yet come, and I am not going."
These verses obviously have Jesus saying He is NOT going. His time is not yet come but he is NOT going. Not the same thing as saying He is not yet going.
These are just a few examples. Your argument falls flat.
The TNIV says the same thing... He is NOT going because His time is not yet come.
Also, if you read Daniels book you would know he does not mention the NIV, NASB, or NKJV as versions missing the word "yet."
Daniels has done his homework; that is apparent to me. His tremendous amount of footnotes in the book makes it easy for us to research ourselves. I highly recommend this book!

Some manuscripts add "yet" (ouàpw) at this point in verse 8. Others do not. In translations that don't include the word "yet," they make a note of that.
If someone gives you a new TV and asks that you just take care of it and wipe the dust off it every week would any person be happy to accept the free gift? Sure. If after wiping the dust off once a week, it might be pretty natural if you found yourself enjoying and taking pride in the nice television and started buying compatible components and keeping the area even more tidy. Not to convert you but, I was just reading up on Islam and areas of thought, trying to find a great way to respond to you, but all I can come up with is that you would make an interesting (other than atheism) un-biased study partner on religious topics. We could do some self teaching and learning. I have a copy of the quar'an and a collection of various religious practices along with good and bad translations of the bible. :)

Found this video via a link on Jack Chicks site...I was shopping for Christian comics to give out for Halloween and found that my sons bible was missing a verse. I specifically chose to use his bible to research the verse in question so that I could make sure it was in HIS version. Yikes! It's missing some words. Not good. All of Paul's, Peter's, etc. letters were copied by scribes and sent to other churches all over Asia Minor. The only Gospels accepted by the early church as authentic were either written by eyewitnesses or by later converts who interviewed eyewitnesses. As a BOOK, it was "put together" centuries later. Doesn't change the authenticity. Bye.

The reason why those words are missing is because The Codex Sinaiticus and most of the oldest manuscripts of the Bible don't have those words. The Trinity in 1 John is not found in any Manuscript before the 16th Century. Part of John 8 is not found in any Manuscript before the 9th Century.
If you really want to "preserve" the Word of God, then you should present it in its Original form.

What the King James Bible is missing is "English". There has been many scrolls in the original language found and there are variants. Remember there was no printers in those days, new copies were made by one person reading the "text" while "scribes" wrote what was read.
Biblical translators do their best to get at what the original "text" probably said based on the rules of that language (Konia Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic ).
Where ever there is a possible variant there is a footnote.

One thing about the modern versions that disturbed me are all the textual variants mentioned in the margins. If we can't decide which phrase, word, or verse belongs in the text then the Bible is in a state of being "unsettled". When you read the KJV, you don't get that impression. God is not the author of confusion. The KJV, in my opinion, is the time tested, fullest reading, & best translation we have in English.

@berean72 I think it is too bold of a claim to say that the KJV translators had no difficulty determining the translation of the manuscripts they had at the time. They may not include them in the text itself but that doesn't mean they were 100% positive. KJV were translators just like the modern ones. Until God himself shows me that KJV is the ONLY translation worthy of study, I'll stick with translations that are more current and accurate. Men are men, whether 1611 or 2010.

If you are intending to determine the authenticity of a book like the Bible, you do not compare one translation to another translation. You need to go back to the original source material. Mr. Daniels does not do that, at least not in the video. Also, he would need to establish who wrote the original source, when, where, and under what circumstances.

A couple of key problems with this
1. On a basic level there's no understanding shown here of the real textual issues involved with the original languages.
2. more importantly, Daniels perceives a tension that is built on an over-simplistic view of the text. When you focus on the tiny details it allows you to side step actually following Jesus. 5 bucks says Daniels isn't a pacifist. Matt 5:44

The NKJV is the most reliable version I have found. My church uses KJV and I constantly check my NKJV with what they are reading and it is always accurate and much clearer.
I have studied many of the critiques of the NKJV and found it reliable. It corrects many of the errors found in the KJV and is a word for word translation not like many versions today which are twisted according to men's doctrine.

I use to believe in the KJV only version. But the word of God has no boundaries. There are errors in the KJV. I personally like using the ESV, but I study with multiple versions, and commentaries. If you really want a more accurate Bible then use the Greek and Hebrew.

My ESV is worshiping an unreliable manuscript? The ESV, KJV, ASV, NIV, etc. are all translations. They are translations! Why the KJV and not the Geneva or Tynsdale versions? Those are older english versions.

king james did not translated the bible, but he gave the command to do it, probably he didn't even believe in GOd

Daniel is absolutely mistaken, or perhaps lying. John 7:8 in the NIV, ESV, NLT, NASB, CEV, NKJV, and TNIV all contain the word "yet." The Message paraphrase does not contain the word "yet," but it does contain the same idea. Which modern translations is he talking about?

Some new translation put it in then turn around and basically say it doesn't belong there with a footnote: "John 7:8 Some early manuscripts do not have yet."
This changes constantly with each new revision, sometimes they add the word and put in the disclaimer the next time they might omit it and say nothing,so it depends when you're bible was published

ESV says, "You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come."
NLT says, "You go on. Im not going[a] to this festival, because my time has not yet come.
CEV... "Go on to the festival. My time hasn't yet come, and I am not going."
These verses obviously have Jesus saying He is NOT going. His time is not yet come but he is NOT going. Not the same thing as saying He is not yet going.
These are just a few examples. Your argument falls flat.

The TNIV says the same thing... He is NOT going because His time is not yet come.
Also, if you read Daniels book you would know he does not mention the NIV, NASB, or NKJV as versions missing the word "yet."
Daniels has done his homework; that is apparent to me. His tremendous amount of footnotes in the book makes it easy for us to research ourselves. I highly recommend this book!

Your wrong...He is talking about John7:8. The NIV does removes "yet".
"The words of the Lord are pure" Psalms 12:6
"Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever" Psalms 12:7
Since the english world has so many bibles; let me ask you, which one did God preserve his word in?

That's why I stick to the King James, baby! Always have, always will. I've seen too many missing or changed verses in the NIV version to call it dependable.

Some manuscripts add "yet" (ouàpw) at this point in verse 8. Others do not. In translations that don't include the word "yet," they make a note of that.

If someone gives you a new TV and asks that you just take care of it and wipe the dust off it every week would any person be happy to accept the free gift? Sure. If after wiping the dust off once a week, it might be pretty natural if you found yourself enjoying and taking pride in the nice television and started buying compatible components and keeping the area even more tidy. If the TV fails and doesn't work, was it still a free gift? Yep.

Rather, I like to think someone is offering me a TV (Set of beliefs) , when I already have a computer (another set of beliefs) that has Youtube, and Hulu, and can change its software according to the times and tastes. My computer is freethought. The TV is accepted word, with all the commercials. I mean dogma.

So why not try Jesus? You must wipe the dust off once a week for a while (church on Sundays or Wednesdays) and go ahead and Accept the FREE gift of salvation(say in prayer that you know you're a sinner and want Jesus as your personal lord and savior, repent of your sins) and enjoy your new TV/(Faith). If after giving Jesus an honest effort and you still haven't found or felt like finding compatible components (ways to grow spiritually) consider where you have been looking.

. I still look forward to understanding more about Hinduism, Jainism and others, for now though I have to keep my chosen faith. If my path fails me and there is no God, I have lost nothing to believe in him/her. The circle of life will swallow me up or I will conquer the portion allotted to me either way. Just in case- I'll take all the free gifts I am lucky enough to get- including eternal life. :)

If you ever want to study together that would be awesome. Not to convert you but, I was just reading up on Islam and areas of thought, trying to find a great way to respond to you, but all I can come up with is that you would make an interesting (other than atheism) un-biased study partner on religious topics. We could do some self teaching and learning. I have a copy of the quar'an and a collection of various religious practices along with good and bad translations of the bible. :)

Might I add... being religious is the commitment to something, I can eat a sandwich every day at 1pm religiously. Christianity is a religion, yes; being a Christian is something different. It is a way to believe. I don't want everything to just end when I die, I want to believe I was created not evolved somehow

There have been street bikers turned pastors, not every preacher appears as a howdy doody yuppy :) Faith is hard. But you and I have more faith than even Jesus' disciples. How is that ...possible you might ask...because you and I have yet to meet him in the flesh. We believe. And if you don't believe, accept the free gift anyway....consider it a trial membership. p.s. once received (whole heartedly) salvation cannot be taken away...it can not be lost.

Found this video via a link on Jack Chicks site...I was shopping for Christian comics to give out for Halloween and found that my sons bible was missing a verse. I specifically chose to use his bible to research the verse in question so that I could make sure it was in HIS version. Yikes! It's missing some words. Not good. I will be buying your book on whats missing and appreciate your efforts to inform the public.

Well, either way, God doesn't believe in Atheists! Jesus loves you very much and died to pay for your sins. He bore them and everyone's sins during the three hours on that cross.
