  • If your using a FF camera it's not trouble indoors

  • @jambandz just depends on the room you have.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie True true. In a studio with a FF camera room isn't a problem. If it's setup halfway decent at least. Thanks for the Vid.

  • What? this lens.... expensive? you have got to be kidding me.... This lens is VERY VERY VERY expensive!!!! LOL!!!!! i got the 70-200 L f4 IS USM... i wish i had more money... i would have gotten that beast of a lens.

  • @truknayr23 yes I agree very expensive. Resale value stays pretty high though.

  • @truknayr23 i got 1 for 664$ new i recommend it

  • If you are watching this, you probably don't have money to buy this lens.

  • tooo expensive!!!! :(

  • love ur video. but i had a few questions. so far i have done 2 weddings,( one indoors and the other outdoors) and would love to become a wedding photographer. i own a canon rebel xs ( 1000d), i know.... its not the best dslr. but im still wanting to buy the canon 70-200mm f2.8 is usm lens for it! i was wondering would this lens fit on my rebel?? and i dont want the 70-200 is ii usm lens do to the fact its way to expensive. can u help me out?? thamks

  • @mervie17 This lens will fit all EOS Canon bodies... on a 1000D this will get a 1.6x magnification. this lens is great.... that is if you have the money to buy it. well if you have the money to buy this lens... i suggest you get a better camera body first. but regarding your question...Yes this will fit your camera.

  • @truknayr23 agree that it will fit. Generally the rule is to invest in glass rather than camera bodies.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie hahaha... ofcourse... i have been following that rule as well... but cmon man... seriously... if you can afford to buy this behemoth of a lens... at least get a 550D to go with it... hahaha... cheers!

  • i have this lens... its amazing! i just did a review on it (:

  • That is a nice lens, but your filter looks like baby finger prints all over it. A lens is only as good as it weakest link. Clean that filter :) Wildlife you got to go for the Canon 100-400, 200mm is not good enough for wildlife.

  • you got great lenses and terrible video quality... uhhh unprepared!!!

  • @MrLukasDiSparrow webcam video in this one. Check out my other video where I use the lens

  • " u will know its in ur backpack when u carry it"

    HAHAHA

  • Outside it works awesome. extra range... its just a big lens

  • Nice lens and review. I can't decide if I will get one or not. I take Polka music video's. Indoors, I know it wouldn't work. But, I wonder about outside events.

  • a good bag for this sort of lens is the low pro sling shot bag

  • i'm totally touching myself right now :O

  • i am serious you can check it out on Save Here Digital.the price is good too but

    plastic mount

  • plastic mount or steal

  • @bigandsmalltree1 are you serious? this is canons flagship

  • @bigandsmalltree1 what do you think

  • Park rangers? Really?

Haha, I rented this for a football game because I have a media pass. I'm psyched.

  • T______T this is every little boys dream lens

  • "people photography" LOL

  • @donttrustany1 i might want to take that lol back as this is a very desired portrait lens among professionals

  • Comment removed

  • @quickshooter100 thats what she said!!!!! thanks for that

  • i like that you mentioned the (not so technical) down sides

it makes your explanation much more credible

    great lens for sure

  • @MisterShledge IS wont stop action, there is a difference between the two. IS is better in some situations and a full stop is a nice advantage because you can use it any time.

  • @MisterShledge A full stop is a considerable advantage too...

  • I have the 70-200 IS II...woooo...

  • @siliconsurf lucky you. I"m sure its nice.

  • @siliconsurf MEE TOO

  • it's good for stalking hot bitches

  • it amazes me that people spend 1k+ on a lense and they dont even put a lense cap on it. Even if your indoors, if your not using it i dont see why you wouldnt have a cap on it.

  • @DopeNoscope Because lens caps are big, bulky, ugly and another "STEAL ME" sticker on your lens. Plus, lens cap or not, you will have to clean the glass every now and then. If you're scared to damage them during transport, get a better bag, or just throw a good-quality UV filter on it.

  • @DopeNoscope Thank you! I thought I was the only one who thought about that. That is so bad for the lens. It kills me that everyone does this to their lenses. o well, they paid for it.

  • @DopeNoscope I totally agree.

  • @kingocarina which?

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie Nikon and Zeiss

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie Unbeatable Olympus f2 lens series.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie Leica LOL.

  • @CreativeOutletHobbie i don't agree with that dude, canon lens are pretty much the best, but u can get a much better deal from sigma ( price / quality ratio i mean ).

  • @kingocarina I call bullshit

  • 70-200 f4 is is better than 70-200 2.8 is

  • @guess777

That fully depends on your needs. Will the f/4 allow you to shoot at f/2.8? No, so the 2.8 version is 1 stop better.

Yes, the f4 is said to be sharper, it's also lighter which also can be a benefit. But I need both IS and the wide aperture. So for me, the 70-200 2.8 IS is better.

  • This is a great lens I have one to

  • Whenever US people talk about large lenses they mention police officers, mall security officers, park rangers, etc. The United States must be the most closed-down country of Freedom in the world. :) No offence, but it's quite ridicules. In Sweden (among other countries) you can put a tripod nearly anywhere and take a picture of whatever you want, be it a museum, police officer, government building, etc. That's Freedom!

  • Yeah. It is unreal how much hassle I get for taking pictures of the most innocuous things. I was taking a picture of a COW!!! and a woman came along and started to give me the third degree. At first I tried to be polite and explain the "art" of it. She just gave a blank look and said "Well it just seems pretty odd" I lost my patients and told her to fuck off. At that point it was clear she was more interested in causing a stink in her boring life. Sorry to ruin photog's rep.

  • @newcoyote You should've shot her.... with the camera!

  • With the non mk II IS you are supposed to turn the IS off if it is on a tripod..

  • there is QUITE a difference between 5lbs and 3.4 lbs for camera lenses you know... the 300mm f/2.8 is what a 5lbs lens is. the 70-200mm weighs like 3.4lbs

  • He mentions Park Rangers dont like it, ha, I got stopped by the state police the first night I was out shooting with mine. Asked me a bunch of questions about it and why I had it out.

  • hey, is this good for soccer games, and night shots?? if not, what do you recommend?

  • I've never used it for any sporting events but I'm going to say it would be a great lens for that.

  • @tauan16 soccer games...eh maybe, 400mm 2.8 would be better, it's good in low light but also make sure your camera is good in low light, make sure you can go to high iso levels with low amounts of noise. I used this lens for night football games this past fall and the lens was great but 400mm 2.8 would have got me closer.

  • @tauan16 I've shot night soccer games with it, it's a great lens for that, granted it wont get you as close as a 400 2.8 but for closer shots it's great, image quality also depends on how good your camera body is, if it can handle high iso well.

  • @tauan16 hey bro, i use this lens for baseball, baketball and soccer. It is awesome for all 3. Get a monopod though, it makes the job a lot easier. Soccer is mostly under floodlights and at 2.8 it gives good shots. Likewise indoor no flash for basketball. Its a cool lens also because you can get pitch side at the soccer and down by the court for basketball because everyone thinks you're press.

  • how much did u pay for this ass-kicker?

  • This lens has just been upgraded 70-200 f2.8L IS USM II !

  • Pretty sweet.

  • and it carries a $500.00 increase in price

  • What would make is better vs my Tamron 70-300mm minus the f2.8 vs f4 and no IS?

  • Yeah but the background blur on the 2.8 is sweet.

  • It only weights 3.4lbs.

  • why does it attract attention from cops?

  • because you look like a spy

  • this is one of the very most overrated canon lenses. This lens is soft at 2.8 and even at f4 the 70.200 f4 is sharper. I would prefer take 70-200 f4 even if they would cost the same.

  • This is a top rated high end lens and lenses are based on preference .

  • @luciferi158 Its not overrated. Its not all about image quality. There are plenty of situations where the F/2.8 IS would take better pictures than a non-IS F/4.

Im a sports photographer and IS is next to useless for me, I would rather have F/2.8 then F/4 but faster shutter speeds with overcast skies, etc...

  • why dont the cops like it?

  • @nickyisanicky no idea but 1 of the first nights I had mine I was stopped by 2 state troopers asking me questions about why I was out with it. Definitely does draw a crap load of attention.

  • They see it as "professional" equipment rather than hobbyist gear, therefore they tend to want to ask you about permits and rights to be in a certain areas, etc.

  • Only weighs 3.6lbs

  • I'm picking it up on monday!! :D counting down..

  • A 5 pound lens? That weights more than my 40D ! Way too heavy..

  • 3.4 Lbs NOT 5.0 Lbs

  • what do you think the best body for wildlife and landscape would be? i was thinking of buying the d3x and 24-105.

  • why are you buying such expensive stuff if you dont even know what body and lens to use for wildlife?

  • what L series lens do you think would be great for Landscape and wildlife

  • Any of the wide angle lenses 17-40, 24-105.

  • in my opinion. the 70-200mm L Family is best for those two types of art

    BECAUSE:

Landscape: This lens is pretty sharp but if you want to go for the sharpest non-prime zoom lens. The 70-200mm IS f/4.0 is the bomb

Wildlie: A big zoom would be needed since most animals will run away if they see people coming close to them

  • Yeah your right on the wildlife part of the question. I think I missed that. The more zoom the better wild life.

  • Yeah, I think the best "all around nature lens" for him is the 70-200mm f/4.0L IS USM :D

  • Do you reccomend this lens for Landscape and wildlife photography?

  • I've never used it for wildlife photography, but I think it would be good for this. The zoom is to long for landscape.

  • What purposes do you use this for? Is it better for car photography than a 24-105 f/4?? Please reply!

    Thanks!

  • I would say that the 24-105 is a better lense for car photography due to the wider angles and that you don't need all the zoom for cars. I use the 70-200 for portrait photography. You can see some examples on my flickr site, which I have a link to on my main page.

  • nice lens but heavy waiting for new stocks cant wait to have one>

  • Bummer, I didn't realize stocks were low.

  • I just got 1 on thursday, B&H photo has it in stock, Allens Camera in PA has it in stock too. Idk where you live though...

  • Any plans to trade-in for the Mark II version?

  • hah check out some of my newer "HD" videos..

  • they're coming out with a Mark II version?! what benefits will that have over this?

  • Hey, great vid! I am thinking on purchasing either this lens(70-200 IS L) or the 100-400 is L F4 to shoot my sons football games and scenic shots, such as Colorado...etc, which lens would you recommend? FYI, I own the Canon 5D Mark II.

  • I've never used the 100-400, but I've always heard better comments about the 70-200. The 2.8 abilities for me at least is better than the longer range. The 100-400 might make you too close to the action as well.

  • Is it good for the portrait shots ?

  • yes, the low F number blurs the backround beautifully. it is the perfect "all-around" lense. But make sure you get the 70-200 F2.8 IS USM.

there are other makes of it at a cheaper price, but nor nearly as good.

  • nice lens! just got my own NEW 70-200 2.8 IS off ebay for $1400 shipped, will do a vid soon as well.

    cheers

  • Well done. You will love it.

  • Great Lens, highly recommend it. I use mine for indoor sports. Works great with ice hockey. Good lens ?? My friend it is a great lens. Nice video..keep on snapping !

  • Just BTW, the lens weighs about 3 lbs. :)

Once you see the results, you'll get over the weight. Trust me.

  • Thanks for the correction. I've had this lense for years' and yes the results are amazing.

  • I have always loved the Cannon L sereis people do look when you have one of those to see whats going on.

  • just kidding lol

  • sweet i have a Canon - L-Series 500mm f/4L IS USM Telephoto lens

  • Our knife collection costs would be puny compared to the price of that lens.

  • it sure would lol but that lens you got there aint no small potatoes either thats one hell of a great lens. and not cheap either.I would love to have one.

  • At least they retain their value fairly well over the years.

  • wooow that thing is HUGE
