I THINK you looked at this movie as acting and actors and at that time, a "professional" theater MOVIE. when if you looked at it as actual real footage the police department found in the forest, there's your answer as to why there's no pop ups or special effects or gore, cause if this whole shpeal were real..... there wouldn't be.

This movie is trying to be realistic. 3 students lost in the woods getting stalked by something unknown is scary.

I think that movies with no music in them are better. It makes it more realistic. Especially with horror movies.

this movie wasn't scary and was boring to death!, wasn't original cause there was a lot of movies like this before just watch 70's movies (cannibal holocaust the greatest of all times)...........the only thing scary about this movie was the black girl sat right next to me in the theater , her eyes were popping out of her eye sockets and she was screaming like if she was possessed, this girl got me so freaked out that i started to scream "the power of christ compels you"

i love films like this, inventive, scary, and original. these smaller films are usually more believable and brave. this film was a huge surprise and ill never forget the first time i seen it, alone up north at about 2 in the morning. love it

nice review. But the idea was not that fresh. This idea for the "found footage" thing was borrowed from Cannibal Holocaust, the Notorious Italian horror film, directed by Ruggero Deodato. If anything, go check out THAT movie. You'll have a nice film to review there.

Well the creators of The Blair Witch swore they'd never heard of Cannibal Holocaust. Frankly I believe them, if they had seen Cannibal Holocaust BWP would probably have been a lot better.

well so what? its not like Halloween was the first to have a stalking camera, body count, and masked killer but it managed to pull the elements together for a well done film, Cannibal Holocaust its alright but being probably the first "found footage" movies its still a rough product Blair Witch mastered the style, and at the end of the day its the more effective movie, Cannibal Holocaust is just an exploitation movie really, loved the music though

This and Last Broadcast were a potent combination back in 99 and still are concerning the found footage genre.

CH may have laid the foundation but Blair and TLB perfected it.

I was completely into this movie....up into the credits and saw "scenic designer"

If they hadn't had credits at the end then this movie could have been much more believable.

It is still by far the most heart pounding horror movie I've ever seen.
