Most R500s have a plastic deflecter around the frame of the window to allow the driver to have a smoke or whatever while its raining (R500 hasnt got an ashtray lol) If you have the heating turned up a bit and the window down about 3 or 4 inches, there will be a nice flow of fresh air around the cab which will also help you to stay awake on the more boring roads

Listening to that all day would get old pretty quick. Have a lot of respect for Scanias but V-8 diesels just sound wrong to me. But I am biased because only some silly p/u truck diesels are 8 cylinders over here in the states. I've logged too many miles behind large displacement straight 6's to retune the brain I guess LOL

i dont like that 16L engine, but try to heard 14L that sound nice and sweet it is lot softer than this one , there are some benefits from v8 comparing to big I6 like fuel filter is on top of the engine and engine keep its warm that is pretty good solution for extremely cold conditions

i think main reason why you don´t have v8 in US is their weight for 12000lbs front axle limit , but there was even mack badged scania v8 in US

@Bevoin1970 It's easy, you put the lever in a desired "full gear", there are 6 "full gears" and they are divided into high and low which you control with a button on the stick, when you've put it into a full gear, you can switch between two half gears without moving the lever, you do this by pushing a another button on the lever, and then quickly press down, and release the clutch, and it lowers the RPM about the half of what a full gear would.

Blir slitsom for meg å høre:-) min første V8 var Ford med 3 usynkronisert gear, siden ble det Volvo Stark med V8 bensin begge med gromlyd. Da jeg fikk min første Scania V8 byget jeg gromlydanlegg på den. Har kjørt Scania/ Volvo oppgjennom årene, men ikke mer gromlyd, bare på Yoo Tube
