looks to me that you had too many messages that you didn't delete - they stack up and it slows down your system - one work around it is to delete all received and all sent messages
or sony was having a network maintenance - like today on 03/09 - their website says that the maintenance will be on for 11 hours - as im writing this message, maintenance started only 25 minutes ago
dont flip the power switch like that hold down the power button thing on the front of your ps3 for a bout 5 seconds then when the green light turns red then you can flip the switch

I have had no problems with my PS3, the reason why the second time you tried to delete it is because you have to let the console load first, cause you just slow the loading time, which will cause a freeze and fails to delete your friends.
Nope...It has everything to do with my network settings. Somebody gave me a walkthrough and this problem doesn't happen anymore. You have to open up ports on your network settings.

Zipper became busy with MAG and had to dump the game onto another dev, which they thought would go well with /shit because they had experience with Socom on PSP.

It happens when you have a lot of friends on your list. The PS3 is really inefficient. I have about 25 friends and it runs fine. If you don't have a lot of friends, the PS3 slows down. :/ Its gay and irritating...

The last game I was truely satisfied with was Final Fantasy VII and most of its spin-offs. Actually, I still play that game to this day AND I have Crisis Core still in my PSP. Its why I don't really like consoles and I tend to stick with PC games. At least those are amazing looking and play great too.

i got mine when fallout 3 came out. The elite xbox. Maybe its the game than, my friends all had problems with that game. It froze at least once a day, with red bars going across the screen. Only way to fix it was to turn it off, which is what caused my RROD. Took it apart, put new thermal paste of the chip and it worked for another week than it happened again. Repeat this process 3 more times and than i sold the shit when i had it working. and its the heat sink thats the problem btw
Im not going to try & make excuses for the shortcomings of PSN ('cause there ARE a few), but I've NEVER had it freeze while trying to delete something. Do you have a large portion of your HD space used up (maybe w/ movies/pictures)? If so, I say delete shit until you have at least 10gigs of free space, then try this again.

I have 35 gig free space...I have the 80 gig ps3. I dont know where all the free space went. I dont have a lot of game info on there as far as I know. I have a map pack from Modern Warfare, about 25 photos, the Red Faction demo, one very short video and a fuckin boatload of Socom patches. Heres the deal i have 2 playstation 3's. Socrap has fucked my ststem up by causing it to lock up so many times. My other ps3 i have never installed socrap and it works just fine. Slant sux fuck you.
i have no audio but try waiting about two minutes after loginig in. if that doesnt help maybe look into your isp or router speeds. if that doesnt help it just may be your system. even though its way slimmer then 360 it tsill happens every once and again.

My problem is that my girlfriend will be watching a movie on the ps3 and I am playing starcraft online (yeah we still play it) and when the movie ends and the disk is ejected the ps3 tries to connect to the internet and boots me from starcraft battle network.

I just heard that Time Warner customers are having issues. If its a DNS issue like mine, then its an issue on your internet providers end. Im not sure if it has anything at all to do with my message screen freezing. If it is, then I need to make a new vid bashing Time Warner...LOL..

i got mine when fallout 3 came out. The elite xbox. Maybe its the game than, my friends all had problems with that game. It froze at least once a day, with red bars going across the screen. Only way to fix it was to turn it off, which is what caused my RROD. Took it apart, put new thermal paste of the chip and it worked for another week than it happened again. Repeat this process 3 more times and than i sold the shit when i had it working. and its the heat sink thats the problem btw

Im not going to try & make excuses for the shortcomings of PSN ('cause there ARE a few), but I've NEVER had it freeze while trying to delete something. Do you have a large portion of your HD space used up (maybe w/ movies/pictures)? If so, I say delete shit until you have at least 10gigs of free space, then try this again.
...if it still does this, your trey might be on the road to Brick-city :-/

I have 35 gig free space...I have the 80 gig ps3. I dont know where all the free space went. I dont have a lot of game info on there as far as I know. I have a map pack from Modern Warfare, about 25 photos, the Red Faction demo, one very short video and a fuckin boatload of Socom patches. Not sure what the fuck is going on, but this shit sure sucks hairy nuts.

My problem is that my girlfriend will be watching a movie on the ps3 and I am playing starcraft online (yeah we still play it) and when the movie ends and the disk is ejected the ps3 tries to connect to the internet and boots me from starcraft battle network.
